    Some ideas:
-Maybe a turtle of some kind with a temple or pyramid on its back. Could be a legendary.
-A coyote. Anything goes, but maybe mix it up with an odd type. Psychic or Dragon come to mind first, in terms of obscurity.
-A manatee that lives in marshes or swamps. Could be Grass/Water
-A chihuahua that can evolve from Normal Type into either Fire or Ice, giving a realistic Ice Type for a generally hot region.
-A more accurate Rattlesnake or a Sidewinder. I’d love to see a Sidewinder.

You should give this line an ability that Mr buddy created, called "Charged Feet", this ability makes it so that all kicking moves have a 20% chance to paralyse the opponent, so this line should have a lot of kicking moves.

    • @eliasmagus5086
      @eliasmagus5086 4 ปีที่แล้ว +40

@@Falinks31 Thats a really cool idea i also have an idea so basically raptors all have a sickle toe that help them with hunting and killing larger prey. Its signature move could be a technique were it kicks and paralyses by super charging its feet and then slashing and stabbing at its prey with its sickle toe.
Note: You would need to add a sickle foot to the design, the move is electric type so the pokemon would have stab, and it would have an increased chance of paralysing its prey because of the extra super charge to its feet, so the percentage of paralysis would be from 50-80% whichever you want

I have immediate love for roadraptor its such a fun design brimming full of energy and pep. As for a bug pokemon I'm reminded of my childhood, particularly any time my family went to Florida. Every single time I've gone to Florida, and of course its tourist shops, I would always get mexican jumping beans. After a bit of research I found out what makes them jump is a little caterpillar or grub. What about a splitting bug line that goes from the basic "bean grub" to a pupa of some sort to either a beetle or moth/butterfly depending on...maybe whether it evolves in the day or the night to keep with the vaugely celestial theming that goes with the current line up.

  • @michaelhitchcock3615
    @michaelhitchcock3615 4 ปีที่แล้ว +314

    Hello, Subjectively!
If you're wanting to stick with the Mexico inspirtation, Mexico has an enormous array of beautiful moth species you can easily turn into Pokemon Designs. For example,
    - Achemon Sphinx: This one gives me ground and psychic vibes due to its patterns and pink coloring.
    - Arched Hooktip: if you like interesting shapes, what this moth lacks in color it makes up for in style. The hooked wings already give it the shape of a jet, so it could easily be made flying or style type.
    - Arcigera Flower: with a fuzzy head and light pink wings, I dont think there's a better fit for a bug/fairy type.
    - Bent-Line Dart: turning those markings into a face is an easy step for making this moth a ghost type.
    - Black Swallowtail: has the same appeal as the previous moth with a different color scheme
    - Blinded Sphix: most of the concept would come from the name, but along with the shape and colors of this moth I think ghost would fit best
    - Dark Marathyssa: another excellent candidate for a dark type with a unique wing shape
If moths are not what you're interested in, there's also a few other noteworthy bugs.
    - Pelecinid Wasp: already a crazy bug with a design aspect that screams ghost/dark. Turning that massive tail into a giant claw or hook would make for a very neat design.
    - Arrow-shape Micarthena Spider: this spider is already so out there in looks. Its coloration can lead it easily to being fire or electric type, and the black-tipped spiky design makes it a good candidate for a dark type as well.
    - Blue Dasher: blue dragonfly if you want a water type
    - Candy-striped Leafhopper: about the same coloration as Bruxish on a bug, nice for any psychic type
    - Dogbane Leaf bettle: the iridescent exoskeleton could be used for a variety of types depending on which direction you go. This is also true of the Festive Tiger beetle and Golden Tortoise Beetle
    - Fiery Skipper: bright orange bug with fire in the name, though it may not be that interesting
Flat-faced Longhorn beetle: mix this with a bull for a Pokemon with some sick horns
There's a ton more bugs out there but I wouldnt want to make a comment a mile long.

    • @chrispoznich
      @chrispoznich 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

My vote is definitely for the pelecinid wasp. I commented about it before seeing your comment and it just seems like such a neat design. Ideas for the bug:
    - Mud dauber. These wasps look so weird with the narrow "tube" connecting the abdomen and thorax. I get the feeling a more Special oriented bee Pokemon (already unique), and with a name like mud dauber, it's gotta be Bug/Ground
    - Vinegaroon/whiptail scorpion. Despite the name, not actually a scorpion.
    - Trapdoor spider. How have we not already gotten this?! Probably another Bug/Ground design, but could also be a Bug/Dark. Oh! What if we play up the Dark angle and replace the usual ground trapdoor with a wormhole? Could even be a way to extend Hyperspace Hole/Hyperspace Fury beyond a certain mythical Pokemon...
    - Panda ant - just learned about this while looking up weird bugs for this prompt.
    - any of the super-furry caterpillars
    - Humminbird moth. Wow. That moth really looks like a hummingbird. And IIRC, hummingbirds to the Aztecs representing the souls of great warriors? Some sort of humminbird would be region-appropriate.

Some suggestions based on Mexican animals I had:
A two stage dark/poison type big cat, with stage 1 based off an ocelot and evolving into a larger form more like a jaguar.
On a similar note there could be a 2-stage canine based on a coyote or Mexican grey wolf, with the 2 evolutionary lines having a zangoose/seviper rivalry over territory and food.
The Vaquita Porpoise is a Mexican porpoise that's massively endangered, and could serve the inspiration for a mythical or 1% encounter mon that's extremely difficult to obtain in-game, Water typing obvious, but maybe psychic/fairy for a secondary type
For one of the fossils, it could be a rock/steel where the base form is an armadillo that evolves into a glyptodon - think a giant armadillo meets tortoise with a spiky tail the size of a small car. Ability could be Rock Head, or an ability that would increase the accuracy of multi-turn moves like rollout. The key item needed could be the Scale or the Shell Fossil
The other fossil could be the Tooth/Fang Fossil, and it's pokemon would be a Rock/Dark cub that would evolve into a Smilodon, or sabre toothed tiger, it's ability would enable the 'fang' moves - thunder, fire, ice or poison - still gain STAB or always guarantee status condition of paralysis, burn, freeze or poison respectively.
There could be a chupacabra-esque single stage pokemon that changes forms based on the time of day, resembling a Xolo (a large hairless dog) in daytime and a more vampiric form at night which gains a secondary Dark typing. This could also be accompanied by a new signature move 'Eclipse' which changes the time from day to night mid-battle, changing this pokemon's form. It's ability would increase it's evasion at night, but increase it's accuracy in daylight.
Final suggestion is a Water/Fighting type 3 stage based on a fur seal, which becomes a sea lion that gains the fighting type and finally an Elephant Seal, the final form would have a much larger male form than female, and a longer 'trunk.' Males would have the ability Rivalry, and Females would have Cute Charm.

Manatees were also the basis for the mermaid myth, and are genetically similar to Dugongs - both called sea cows, so I could see a regional variant of Seel and Dewgong which keeps the water typing but gains fairy on evolution, or just a regional Seel that gains a new water/fairy evolution, similar to the new Meowth evo Perrserker compared to Persian

    The Spiderling Pokemon
"During ancient times, Honhair have roamed the earth, scavenging and evolving as time grows. Despite their intimidating demeanors, Honhair are considered to be the perfect pokemon for young and starting trainers to work with, as they are guaranteed to be docile in nature. They have grown to be non-confrontational most times, burrowing into the ground to avoid any fighting or attacks from predators. Sometimes they use their sporadic hairs to either camouflage themselves into their environments or to fight."
// This idea is strongly based on the Honduran Curly Haired Tarantula (Brachypelma Albopilosum), a new world tarantula that could be located in Honduras, a country in Southern America. I own one myself and what I’ve researched about is that slings (baby spider/tarantulas) and juvenile tarantulas tend to hide away in corners and burrow themselves into the ground. Rarely has there ever been a case of a Curly Hair threatening or attacking their owners, which led me to think that this bug type pokemon tend to be very docile and loving towards their trainers. Whatever their evolutionary line is, is up to you. I’m just giving you the base as to what you could work with for this bug type lineage.

    Here's two bug ideas:
    Pelecinid Wasp (personal favorite)
    - this bug has a really long "tail", while not used to sting, does burrow into the ground to lay their eggs. They use their tail to look for grubs in the dirt, and once they find one they stab it and lay there eggs in it. Once they hatch the larva eat the grub. The narly tail could also be fun to play with in terms of the silhouette.
    Candy striped leaf hopper
-this leafhopper has bright blue and red striped going down its back. Its commonly found in blackberry bushes or rose/rhododendron leaves. They apparently emit a sweet tasting liquid that other bugs like to eat.
Love all of the designs so far. Keep it up and hope your staying safe!!!!!

My idea for a bug 3 stage was an Ant 🐜 where it’s third type (like some starter bug Pokémon) can split depending on if it’s male or female. While the female grows wings and the male can be a soldier ant. While there is tons of types of ants I found one called a parachute ant. Cephalotes varians- googling this helps give the idea

Here's an idea for a 'Mexican' bug Pokemon (that could also tie into a early Grass Pokemon).
    1. A beetle that looks like a bean, that sporadically jumps to avoid danger.
    2. An enlarged abdomen in which it can fire itself like a rocket (think bombardier beetle but in reverse)
    3. A locust/cricket with a literal jet engine on its rear to help it get away from Roadraptor.
    Grass Pokemon
    1. A bean of similar design to the beetle, but has a small spout whereas the beetle has antenna.
    2. A chili/jalapeno pepper, that's Grass/Fire. They evolve if Burned with more than 50% HP.

I've always had two ideas for pokemon that would fit the mexican motifs:
    - A Dark/Electrick type Chihuahua based on an alebrije. Apart from the generic jumble of different animal parts present in the pokemon (while mostly still looking like a Chihuahua) the gimmick is that is normaly coal black and then lights up with colors whenever it has to use it's electricity. They normaly hunt at night but because of their neurotic and energetic behavior they usually can't control their usage of electricity and light up sporadically wich alarms the prey they're hunting so they group up with their (insert evolution here) and other (insert the name of this pokemon here) to have a better chance at hunting their prey.
    - A Flying/Ghost type Stork loosely based on La Llorona. It's also a two stage evo pokemon like the previous one. A basic pokedex entry for the evo could be "This pokemon is feared across the region because of their uncomfortable songs that attract rainstorms and instill a sense of dread and sadness to any that hears it. However, theese pokemon are solitary by nature and prefer living in unpopulated areas where they cannot be disturbed." I also have an idea for a unique hidden ability called "Waterworks" wich functions like Dhelmise's Steelworker ability but for water type moves because of the expression and it's correlation to the pokemon's characteristics and pokedex entry.
I've already drawn multiple sketches of both of theese pokemon but I prefer for you to decide how they could look.

Making it Normal/Steel type to represent its sharp claws and tough hide could work, or an evolution that shows its isolation from its hunting group as it ages, like happens to the males. The evolution could replace Normal with Dark type, being distrusting and angry always.

  • @LightingtheDraghog

One idea that would be interesting would be to include the “legend of the 5 suns” somewhere. I think Pokémon based on those could be more like the wandering legendaries/ the trio legendaries Pokémon
I also notice there are a lot of space and otherworldly connections in all the designs we’ve seen so far. I think that this might be a good idea to connect everything. Sadly the “Sun” and “Moon” have been taken, but maybe “Comets” “Meteors” or “Asteroids” might be a cool idea.
This could tie into the main legendary being tied to the Aztec idea of the end of the world and tie into the fact that the meteor that killed the dinosaurs landed in the Gulf of Mexico.
Overly Sarcastic Productions does a great video on explaining the myth and the kind of Pokémon that could come out of it

    Ideas:
    - Bombardier Beetle (Bug/Fire): A small beetle with an explosive spray
    - Mosquito (Bug/Dark) or (Bug/Poison): While I love Buzzwole, we need a more traditionally insectoid Mosquito Pokemon. Maybe you could play into the blood rituals of Ancient Mesoamerican culture - They could have fed these Pokemon blood to prevent them from spreading diseases
    - Tarantula Hawk Wasp (Bug/Dark): Because 1) That name and 2) They are MEAN, hunting spiders, paralyzing them, laying their eggs in them, all for the spider to be eaten alive by the young - Very dark, just like a Pokedex entry (Maybe would need to be toned down though)

4:31 I actually heard this rabbit story as a Japanese myth.
An old man, tired and hungry was walking through a forest when three animals saw him. A fox, a monkey and a rabbit. They wanted to help him so each used their talents to grab something for him to eat; The fox hunted a bird for him to eat, the monkey got him some fruit from a tree but the rabbit? It looked and looked until it got tired but the most he could get were some berries. It thought this was nowhere near enough so it decided to offer itself to be served as the old man's meal.
The old man turned out to be a god in disguise and he was so touched by the rabbit's act of selflessness and self sacrifice so he decided to honor it's bravery by collecting the remains and throwing them to the moon, which is why the moon has a rabbit on it. From that day onwards every single rabbit jumps around in an attempt to reach the moon in order to reach their hero.
The mexican sun/moon myth I heard was as follows: One guy was chosen for an important task and had to throw himself to a bonfire in order to become the new sun (something happened to the old one, I don't remember) but he panicked and couldn't bring himself to do it. So another guy had enough of this and ran straight to it so everyone could get done with this, this caused him to become the new sun. The guy who was originally destined to become the sun got jealous of the praise the new sun was getting and threw himself in as well, which caused him to become a second sun. This in turn caused a never ending day cycle which eventually brought a drought so people were desperate. I don't remember who but someone had the idea to put off the new sun's flames so they picked a bunny and threw it to the new sun, extinguishing all the flames on impact and thus creating a moon.

A possible national bug can be the monarch butterfly, since they migrate from canada to Mexico. It can also be given both a sun motif and a fire type due to its vibrant colors and the other 2 pokemon having celestial bodies theme. When it is a Caterpillar, it is yellow white and black. It may not be fire type yet but the sun motifs stands. When in cocoon form, it can take either a eclips or sunset attribute, like the sun going away but will come back. Finally when it is a monarch butterfly, it can be fire bug with both a sun motif and royal themes because it a monarch. It's just an idea but hope you like it

The mosquito could start out really thin and scared looking, but could evolve into a more buzzwole looking pokemon. I would suggest it to be a bug-ground or bug-flying type. A mosquito would really fit with the Mexico theme because there are many mosquitos in jungles. Another idea would be a ghost-fire type based of of the day of the dead skeletons. Possibly a one stage pokemon. My last idea would be a waterfall pokemon loosely based off of a wonder of the world in Argentina.

There’s an artist I watch on deviant art that did this really cute Pokémon based on those honeypot ants you’re talking about. As for the bullet ants, that would be something I’d love to see

-Now that I think about it, it is odd that there isnt a housefly pokemon yet. For a lot of people, when someone says "Bug" a housefly is the first they think of.
-I'm pretty confident that if we ever see a dung beetle in the actual games it will be less "poop rolling dung beetle" and more "Egyptian Scarab amulet", so I'd prefer to see the former, personally.
-I've seen a pretty cool design on deviant art which literally made an ant into an amazing bug/dragon type, lemme see if I can find the link.....

Yeah tho, its a huge shame that the massive variety of ants has been wasted so far. Maybe that honey producing ant could be a regional variant of the beedrill or vespiquen lines.

Maybe a bug type around the Monarch Butterfly, they are native to North America but they do this cool migration thing in the winter where all Monarch butterflies fly to Mexico and hibernate. They clump together on trees and if you look up pictures it’s actually breath taking how many there are.

A bug/fire line themed around a scorpion and the many hot peppers found in Mexico might be cool. But these 2 ideas could be split into 2 lines
