    I’m always amazed at how stunning these timber frames look on the inside…the wood is so substantial. So many homes are pretty on the surface, but are flimsy, poorly built and start to fall apart quickly. Timber frame look like they will last hundreds of years with minimal maintenance.

    All your videos have drywall interior (except for ceilings with tongue and groove). What if you wanted walls with pine tongue and grove? What do you do then? Or can’t you?

    How’s the cost of this build compared to stick frame?

    • @zebwalton979
      @zebwalton979 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question. Unfortunately it’s more expensive than stick framing. Didn’t used to be.
      Lumber prices went up dramatically in 2020, yet timber frame companies, which raised their prices during that time, never decreased their pricing when lumber came back down to normal levels.
      You can contract with your lumber yard and lock in pricing which is half the cost of timber frame companies. They’ve done it to themselves.

    Kits are WAAAY expensive. I thought timber framing was less wood and therefore less expensive?

    So your paying others to build your house.

  • @bobcat9314

    Timber framing is not a more sustainable option than platform framing.
    That must be why building developments are full of timberframed homes.
    I've been in the building industry most of my life..I would never build in 2023..are you nuts!...
    Buy an old home, and make it what you want...even if it means ripping 3/4 of the existing structure down...dont give in to this stupid, over priced dream..
    Trust me...
    Do you want to own a home?, or do you want it to own you...
    Every home I've seen a couple build is a nightmare for them by the end ..it beat the living hell out of a marriage, your finances, and blood pressure ..
    Avoid this life headache, and keep on truck'n.
