    i didnt like when they traded ron for metta. yeah. they have identical everything, but it caused ron to disappear. Nobody has seen him since. worldpeace has to have suttin to do with it the scouting agrees with me as when they look at his paperwork it says "player has a playing ability similar to Ron Artest"
    well done baskbabest

    The problem with Dwight is 1. He never added anything to his game since he came into the league, despite working with McHale AND Olajuwon at some point & 2. after the 09-10 season, he didn't seem motivated anymore. As much as I don't care for Kobe, he was right about Dwight, he doesn't have a winning mentality.

    With Charlotte, Dwight is back with a coach that he had the most success in his career with. Steve Clifford. I think Charlotte is hoping they could at least see half of that. They really don't need him to be 100% like he was in Orlando.

    During his time as a Laker, the core of the team never played together for full season, Nash, Gasol, Kobe, and Dwight all took turns treating their own injuries, which is the main reason they were able to win championship. In fact the lakers made a strong push to finish the season as 7th seed in west, was largely due to Dwight put the team on his shoulder. Although they got swept by the spurs, if Dwight never had a winning mentality, I bet the lakers would not make the finals; and at Houston, his numbers looked decent was largely because "James Harden" was still sharing the ball with him. Only God knew the number of times where Dwight had firmly established position at the post and to be waived off by Harden. There isn't or wasn't any player could be in rhythm if they only touch the ball once every five or ten possession.

    I agree with almost everything, but you know that dwight plans on shooting the three-ball? He said that he is gonna develop it in the offseason. And you said that he would not shoot threes

    • @basketballsbest1858
      @basketballsbest1858  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't recall saying he would not shoot 3's. I heard that news Bence and I'm doubt he could do it. He's just not a shooter, if it were that easy he should have started focusing on it long ago.

    • @runakiller
      @runakiller 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, this year he started to hit some mid-range shots, which he said he would develop. So i guess, he will start hitting some threes next season, but i guess we will have to wait to find out.

  • @PureChaos20
    @PureChaos20 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Honestly, I don't think this is a fair assessment of Dwight. You left out the injury aspects, which as much as anyone can try to downplay that, back injury can screw someones career(Tony Romo? Larry Bird?), I think that is to big a reason to ignore. Also take into account his teammates and teams. The last time we saw Dwight Howard happy and succesful, was when he was the number 1 option... in Orlando.... Where even you made no mention of issues for dwight. His entire "lack of winning drive", could purely be discouragement he brings on himself, for not being the player he knows he could have been. Just a theory.

    • @parkinsaw
      @parkinsaw 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yep which is crazy. Howard all he needed was a sky-hook, dream shake....something his height and hops should have been close to unstoppable. But he always just seems to be there. i feel he should have been given a bit more time on the Lakers though. He's kind of like prime Vince Carter, so much potential just never materialized.

  • @TheSlyfoxgame
    @TheSlyfoxgame 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    lol Whoever is narrating this didn't mention him having BACK SURGERY not one time,, which can decline ANYBODY'S career.. Its a reason why his career declined..Do you think that might have been the reason why?

    • @basketballsbest1858
      @basketballsbest1858  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The video wasn't really meant to focus on his decline. I even said he's still pretty decent.

  • @TheSlyfoxgame
    @TheSlyfoxgame 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    lol Dude whoever you are talkin on this video your logic on this is so bad on this its not even funny,, He made the lakers worse!? smh first off he was coming fresh off BACK SURGERY which can set anybody's career back ,CLEARLY you'd be a step slow after going through something like that (Which you didn't mention once in this video) secondly that team included an aging Kobe Bryant (who's not the most willing passer in the world) and Steve Nash who didn't play AT ALL THE WHOLE YEAR because of injury..which you didn't either, and coached by Mike D'antoni..if you know the NBA mike D'antoni's system is about pushing the pace getting up & down the court, that's why they brought in Steve Nash, so him getting hurt threw everything off, So Dwight Howard going to LA didn't go as planned like everybody and their uncle thought it was going to,yet they still made the playoffs, not sure how Dwight is making the team worse in that regard, Clearly you made this video to Bash him rather than praise him, but thats perfectly fine because he's going to the hall of fame.

  • @crimsonfartable953

    Dwight can't shoot and that is necessary for today's big men of the nba. If he played in a different era he would have averaged more and have a much better career.

    • @basketballsbest1858
      @basketballsbest1858  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree about the lack of championship mentality. But Howard seems to have it less than all the other players. There's just no drive there. The players that come to mind right now that have that mentality the most are Westbrook and Draymond Green but Howard seems to have it the least.

      My video on the Clippers covers his time on the team and the question of him leaving. As for his success on the Rockets, it's so uncertain. They have 2 great point guards now which seems like a conflict but they must have a plan for it. Doubtful they'll compare to Golden State but not sure if I have too much more to say about it.

      By the title of the video alone. 6:07 "he's bad for his team". Also, in the end when you said that there's a pattern that just tells me that you're basing everything you said on pseudo-scientific bullshit.

    • @basketballsbest1858
      @basketballsbest1858  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry you get that impression. I don't mean in the locker room, I mean on the floor he's bad for his team. Just my conclusion from watching him over the years and looking back at all the facts I stated.

    • @ballinboxer3676
      @ballinboxer3676 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've watched him over the years as well. I'm not the biggest D12 fan but to all but say that he is not valuable to an NBA roster is ridiculous. First of all, the Hawks gave up so little for him because they're trying to rebuild. The Lakers were a disaster in his 1 year there. Nash and Gasol barely played, Blake was his usual injury prone self, they had Earl Clark start some games, and their bench was nonexistent. Houston had coaching and management problems. I'm pretty sure you knew all this but still chose to ignore all these facts.
      Also, what do you mean by he leaves every team he joins worse off? Houston is having one of their most successful era in a long time. Atlanta, as I've said, has been falling apart even before Dwight was there. Lakers paid Kobe only to get injured and topped it all off with a no fucks given ceremonial last season for Kobe. And the Magic has just been making terrible decisions (why tf did they get Ibaka again?)

    • @basketballsbest1858
      @basketballsbest1858  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Again WormChemistry, I'm not sure why you get such a negative impression from my video. I agree with most of what you said but stand by the fact that Howard did his part in harming the Lakers that year and became a problem for Houston in his final year. Of course there's other factors in all this but Howard was a big part of all of it.
