Joined! Question for you Thomas, what if I’m having some of these symptoms while I’m fasting and haven’t eaten, or all I had was a Sun Warrior protein shake and a light workout (and then some ACV 1 hour before bed) Waking up to pee once or twice, fall back asleep, then bam 💥 I’m waking at 2:30/3am. Dr. Berg says it’s high cortisol or cortisol resistance… hope to hear your thoughts! Thanks!
Hey Thomas, I’m a 45 yo male…. Athletic 5-10” and 188 lbs. I exercise regularly and I am a Master Electrician. Very active job. I was in an accident on the job 10 weeks ago. I was electrocuted. Horrible deal. I died and was revived. Long story short I have been drinking 10 sodas a day… Dr Peppers at that. I also binge eat ice cream. Again, my body doesn’t look like it but I have poor eating practices. Well after this accident I started having these huge anxiety attacks. How I got here up until Last night I had been looking up anxiety and depressions not Hyperglycemia. When I found this material…. When I read this and listened to some of these symptoms I can’t lie. I have them. My shins were broken out in a red rash. They were itching so bad I scratched them up. Waking up many times in the night. Also, peeing a lot at night….. so today was my first day 24 hrs with cutting out all the soft drinks and I’ve tried to eat healthy today. No sweets no ice cream. I don’t have a BCM yet I’m buying one tomorrow when I go into town. So I haven’t checked but I’m saying you helped lead me to a solution. I thought something was crazy wrong with me and I wa gonna die these anxiety attacks at night have been so bad. I’ve even woke up having one now that I’m writing this thinking among what all signs have been there. I plan on going to the Dr and getting properly tested. Aside from me giving you kudos I guess the question I have is what do you think the odds are I keep up with my exercising I’m already doing and completely cut sugar and eating processed foods 100% out of my diet. I can already tell you just this 24 hrs has helped a lot. I’m not feeling any anxiety as I lay here and I also can concentrate on typing this. I couldn’t do that feeling that angst I have been having. That’s other symptoms I’ve had. Poor concentration, feeling overwhelmed etc. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you for doing what you do bro!! Regards, Randy G
1. Running in the bathroom 2 or 3x or 6x to pee 2. waking up frequently at night 3. thirsty (also at night when waking up frequently and being thirsty 4. overheating (even if the aircon is on and really cold) 5. waking up at night with headaches (pounding and tight headaches) 6. waking up hungry seems i have several of this signs, especially sign #1 # 2 #4 and #5😢
Omg!! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I literally had a conversation about this today with my Dr. I only sleep about 3 hours at a time. I wake up and pee so much. Sometimes my mouth is extremely dry. I did start a keto diet recently. I have subscribed to this channel a few weeks ago, so here we are. I havent been eating sugar, low carbs, trying to get more fat, etc. its still happening. Im not sure how to stay asleep longer. Im definitely a stressed out person. So yeah.. cortisol. All of this.
i went full on sugar last night (get together), and i was awoken at 4am with massive acid reflux, sweats, and just really irritable. i felt like i needed a long walk but it was still pitch-black outside. This, after months of strict keto. What a coincidence this video is
Excellent video. It's incredible how you were diagnosed as Diabetic and changed your life 100% for the better. What was the very first thing you started to help yourself? Adding exercise or cutting back on carbs? The nighttime thirst was important to learn about...l thought l was just not drinking enough during the day and Soo at bedtime it was hitting, but it's completely different mechanism of action going on. The morning headaches etc. It's great to finally start learning what's going on. 🙏
wow, now that I am fasting I am frequently going to restroom. This is crazy, I didn't know my body is trying to get rid of the glucose. I started two months ago. I used to weight 203 pounds and I am down to 187(without eating). I am supper happy with the results.
It's not bcs of that in this case. You are fasting and bcs the body doesn't get any insulin spikes from eating the kidneys can't hold on to the minerals as well as they normally do, including sodium and that's why you lose fluids. Also, glucose binds fluids to the tissues and since you are not eating that either...water loss.
@@cammieklund there are foods that increases my metabolism . Yes , fasting does decrease my metabolism but you can counter it with certain foods. If you can decrease it, you can increase it. Besides, I prefer to decrease my metabolism to help me lose weight.

A lot of sweating and a lot of feel good endorphins from running 🙏🏽
Had four ice creams, half a pack if biscuits and some mint chocolate sticks about two hours back and now it's nearly 1AM. Gonna be in for a rough, pi33y , hot night. : (
totally random question Thomas, What your take on derma rolling for hair growth? I see you have a nice hairline and im wondering if you have had any hair issues in the past etc.
omg, I already suspected I was insulin resistant (no obvious symptoms like thirst or peeing at night rhough) but wasn't sure if regular waking up at night almost every night and being hot was part of it... And so now I know it is! AND it looks like you've enlightened me as to why it seems that out of the blue my eczema wakes me up at night! I had no idea that it's high glucose triggering histamine. Does alcohol increase glucose levels too? I don't drink usually but if i go out and have a lot to drink, I'll go to sleep and you'd think I'd be sleeping through the night, but no- I'll wake up after 2 or 3 hours after falling asleep unable to go back to sleep for 2 tp 3 hours 🙄 Also feeling hot: It's not like I'm hot and sweaty after a workout. Yust my body seems really hot and sometimes I feel my feet are so hot i need to uncover them. My hubby keeps saying that my body is exceptionally hot at nights and he struggles to stay cuddled as it makes him too hot- which sometimes I don't even realise. Thank you so much for your straight forward explanation here, it's definitely clarified some things for me. I am not obese, just some stubborn belly fat despite working out (strength/weights) for 2 yrs. Last Autumn I noticed dark lines under my knees and recently stumbled across a video mentioning it as a possible symptom which made me start investing in this direction. Now more and more things clicking in place and looks like I'll be going for glucose/insulin tests soon to confirm.
Here's a quick and easy 'at home test'. Not the same as official tests, but a fairly accurate indicator. Take a measurement of your waist. Don't suck it in, be honest with yourself. Divide this # by the number of your height. ie: Waist 38" divided by height 62" = 61. If the # is below 53, no problem with insulin resistance. If it's between 53 - 58, you need to pay attention and take some action. If it's over 58, you're in trouble; need to get serious about changing your diet & habits dramatically before it's major Type 2. An even quicker way is to stand up straight, don't suck in your gut, and look at your toes. If you can't see them, that's a pretty good indicator. :-)
Sleep apnea is also a very important factor when dealing with high blood sugar at night... I'm dealing with alot of these symptoms...been doing keto and have sleep apnea... even though I don't like doing it I have to start using my CPAP machine every night... I believe that will be the complete fix. 🙂🙏👍
Yeah the overheating I've had quite often after I had a binge, just sweating my ass off. Super thirsty, waking up a lot if I can even sleep to begin with, lots of peeing and also burning eyes and blurry vision. And being very hungry in the morning indeed even though I just ate 10k calories. Too many binges, know the symptoms all too well. I always reckon it's probably less bad to have an evening drinking alcohol or doing drugs than binge eating to the degree that you have these extreme symptoms. I'm starting get it under control more but it's a process I still sometimes do it. It's one of those things that you become much more susceptible to when you actively start to exercise, watch your food and reduce calories etc. Every time I get to a certain weight I just get these impossible to resist urges to eat garbage and I know every trick in the book but the urge doesn't go away and even if I manage to resist it for days or weeks that urge stays. Nothing I eat is satiating and eating 1 bag of crisps or candy/cookies etc doesn't cut it. I basically need to eat till I'm sick and then I'm cured for a while lol.
I have all these signs but don’t see a bedtime spike on cgm. Will need to get another one and monitor what is happening during my middle of night awakenings. Very helpful.
I’m thirsty all the time and no amount of water satisfies me! I’m not overweight I don’t eat the way I believe i should. I’m going to check out the glucose monitor.
In addition to the doctor visit, definitely add some electrolytes and a good pink salt or sea salt to your food or water. Drinking too much water can flush out too many minerals and electrolytes.
I agree with everything here, but was sad not to see recommendations on what to do about high glucose. I already follow much of the other advise he gives so not really sure what can be done to get rid of the high glucose
Recently I would get up many times a night to go the the bathroom. I am exercising more these days and not getting up as much and sleeping for a bit longer stretches, however, I can`t seem to get to sleep if I wake up at 3 a.m. or later. I am not getting enough sleep but I am working on it. Wintertime was really difficult.
I use a Dexcom G7. When I saterted A1C was up to 11 at the endof covid. Currently, my readings this weekend I am at 5.73 I ti s great being able to see the effects of foods. I am a Tpye 2 Diabetic.

Hey Thomas, Can we get Signos in Australia? In regards to sleep unfortunately my kitten keeps waking me up and he is now 1. No doubt this affects me in every single way :(
I have every symptom mentioned. I also notice increased muscle cramps at night in muscles I didn't even know I had in my feet. I guess that means it is really bad. I think I have to do a fast and go keto for a while.
I always wondered why my stomach felt warm or indeed burning after a big meal. I thought that it was due to digesting a heavy meal. I also have seen that eating ice cream or cake has made me feel hotter. What an irony.
2:15 I am a type one, and I have noticed this myself. I tend to wake up in the night if I am at 8 mmol/144 mg/dl keeping it low does resolve that issue.
Nice video as always. Quick question though, isn't it a bit difficult to workout with the CGM attached to the triceps all the time, it would honestly annoy me 😅
Well, many people I know wake up at night when they have eaten meat on that day, and does not happen with carbs. I guess everybody is different. Also coffee will make you wake up in the middle of the night.
Any Idea how expensive those Dexco6 CGM's are? If you have to buy it your self the costs are as follows. 495.99 for the reader. 416.99 for just a 30 day supply of the sensors. 298.99 for the transmitter and it only lasts 3 months. The Dexcom is good and very accurate but it is also very expensive.
I guess what should be happening is that blood sugar should be decreasing the first half of the night, then increasing until you wake up, due to what is happening with cortisol
I'm nitpicking BUT its inaccurate to say your body/kidneys are trying to get rid of glucose. its much more accurate to say your kidneys are overloaded with glucose and are unable to do their usual job of reabsorbing as much glucose as possible from the filtrating fluid....
A little unrelated, but do you have any advice or studies about migraines and fasting. I FINALLY found something that works for me (weight loss) which is doing a 24 hour fast every week or two weeks. However, it triggers terrible headaches.
@booheinz1 Do you have any idea why butter would trigger a migraine? Anytime I eat some I just get it a few minutes later I basically stay away from it which sucks cause I love it
You forgot another reason for waking up and that's bcs your bloodsugar actually goes too LOW and the body releases stresshormones to force the body to produce glucose. This happens all the time when I'm low carb and it really destroys my sleep.
It could take as long as 6 -7 months depending on the severity to get the A1C under control. I’m presuming Type 2. The benefits should be noticeable earlier on.
@@neil_digital My HA1C is really really good... but for some odd reason I had a spike in the fasting glucose... just came off a 5 day fast, ate a carnivore day then did the test... perhaps an anomaly.
With a Continuous Glucose Monitor, I wonder if it’s water proof. I swim at least per week in the pool. Also I surf ski paddle in the beach/ocean. I sometimes surf and occasionally board paddle. I do whatever is required during voluntary beach patrols. I keep thinking the monitor on the arm will rust out or fall off. Am I wrong?
It is not, I wear one. I've been diabetic since my teens and have used a CGM for quite a while. When I need to protect it, I put a waterproof tegaderm occlusive dressing over it. It stays on for days. Showering or a quick dip in water is ok, but for longer exposure you need to cover it.
@@ThyGirlnextdoor thank you for your reply. I sometimes spend very long periods of time in the water - that’s moving water like shore dumps, waves, etc. So a CGM may not be suitable for my lifestyle.
@@pokeypickle3 Hi! With Signos, you can take showers, exercise, and even swim with your sensor. The sensor is designed to be able to work in up to 8 feet of water and at altitudes of up to 13,800 feet. You can also use it in a hot tub as long as the temperature does not exceed 107.6°F. Live somewhere tropical? No worries, the sensor can function in up to 95% humidity.
My mother AND grandmother scolded me for two solid weeks to NEVER take food to bed. Grandma was an R.N.. Inhalation of flakes or bits of this and that can lead to serious problems. A nagging cough from this can last MONTHS. That is enough reason. Pneumonia in the elderly can be fatal. The other issues are equally important. Don't do it.
Prediabetic is the presign for it, you can't be that much stressing out for as little as every now and tgen glucose elevation, it'll probably good for our brain especially when you are getting old. PS: your face looks tired
Im a diabetic and had this issue before, i eat a keto meal before bed and about a liter or more of wine wich helps with sleep, just try and keep it white wine and dont keep drinking after the meal

Nice video as always. Quick question though, isn't it a bit difficult to workout with the CGM attached to the triceps all the time, it would honestly annoy me 😅
Honestly, you don't even notice it
Jeeeeeeeez, now I’m starting to think getting the beers might have triggered diabetes or some other sort of metabolic disorder
Well, many people I know wake up at night when they have eaten meat on that day, and does not happen with carbs. I guess everybody is different. Also coffee will make you wake up in the middle of the night.
I only have the awakening at 5 am part.
I quit drinking coffee after 2-3 pm and whizz less in the evening!
I'm having the opposite problem, glucose too low at night 53-55 🤔
Any Idea how expensive those Dexco6 CGM's are? If you have to buy it your self the costs are as follows. 495.99 for the reader. 416.99 for just a 30 day supply of the sensors. 298.99 for the transmitter and it only lasts 3 months. The Dexcom is good and very accurate but it is also very expensive.
I get mine through Levels Health and it's $199/month for 3 Dexcom sensors and a new transmitter every 3 months.
Hi! Currently, our 6/mo plan is $149/mo, 3/mo plan is $179/mo and our 1/mo plan is $336/mo.
Is it not best to eat a large amount of your daily calories before before you go deep into a parasympathetic state for 6-8 hours?
Cancer LOVES sugar !!
I drink lots of water but have learned not to do it close to bedtime so I don’t go titi overnight. 😊
A little unrelated, but do you have any advice or studies about migraines and fasting. I FINALLY found something that works for me (weight loss) which is doing a 24 hour fast every week or two weeks. However, it triggers terrible headaches.
You getting enough hydration….salt?
@@jodyjackson5475 yes on hydration I think..but idk a out salt. Is that a thing, will look into it
You probably need electrolytes and/or your blood sugar is very low. Try putting a pinch of salt in water to drink during your fast.
@booheinz1 Do you have any idea why butter would trigger a migraine? Anytime I eat some I just get it a few minutes later I basically stay away from it which sucks cause I love it
Are you abstaining from caffeine while fasting? That can give you a caffeine withdrawal headache if you normally drink a lot of it.
You forgot another reason for waking up and that's bcs your bloodsugar actually goes too LOW and the body releases stresshormones to force the body to produce glucose. This happens all the time when I'm low carb and it really destroys my sleep.
So... how long on a low carb diet does it take to reverse these things?
It could take as long as 6 -7 months depending on the severity to get the A1C under control. I’m presuming Type 2. The benefits should be noticeable earlier on.
@@neil_digital My HA1C is really really good... but for some odd reason I had a spike in the fasting glucose... just came off a 5 day fast, ate a carnivore day then did the test... perhaps an anomaly.
@@davidzaharik5408 I hope you can get to the cause of this. Is it possible that your test kit needs to be verified?
@@neil_digital Possibly the lab messed up. They missed a good half dozen tests they were supposed to do as well. Hard to get good help these days! LOL
Am I wrong?
I forgot to say that I have part time manual job that requires some light to medium lifting. The only time I sit down is when I eat.
Oh, I improved my diet by eliminating some unnecessary carbohydrates. I still need some but as much as I use to eat.
Hey V-Shread made a new video! 😅
Also sounds like someone who had one (or two) too many drinks 🍺 🍷

My mother AND grandmother scolded me for two solid weeks to NEVER take food to bed. Grandma was an R.N.. Inhalation of flakes or bits of this and that can lead to serious problems. A nagging cough from this can last MONTHS. That is enough reason. Pneumonia in the elderly can be fatal. The other issues are equally important. Don't do it.
😅I drink wine on the weekends and I wake up less to pee than I do on the weekdays at night
Yes dormancy highly impacts glucose levels
Sweating at night waking up wet through ?
Keto creats a lot of urination, too!!!!
I wish the cgm's weren't so expensive. Keto mojo is reasonable but you have to prick yourself constantly
Act right, is being first your goal?
Were you able to reverse your diabetes?
Glucose makes me sleepy.
Thanks
Prediabetic is the presign for it, you can't be that much stressing out for as little as every now and tgen glucose elevation, it'll probably good for our brain especially when you are getting old. PS: your face looks tired
❤
I lie down at night. Only a hen lays at night.

A lot of protein for dinner can make you hot at night.
Wait 'til you hit 60, high-maintenance big time.
whoops I'm doomed I got most of these
One last thing. If you die you won't know it, so don't worry about it. Get saved, and you get resurrected to immortality.
If your peeing more than once at night its suspect of issue
Not if you finished two bottles of wines.
@@majuscule8883 no. Wine dehydrate, but beer, yes , makes you pee a lot
What if I just drink a lot before I go to sleep
Im a diabetic and had this issue before, i eat a keto meal before bed and about a liter or more of wine wich helps with sleep, just try and keep it white wine and dont keep drinking after the meal

A litre of wine ??

I’ve always gone to the bathroom 3-5 times a night since I was 6 years old so idk about that one.
