Great illustration video and great content Dami. I'd love to chat with you about the art of Architectural Photography one day. I bet it would be amazing context for your audience to learn about how important photography is to showcase an Architect's work.
Great videos! Clear and comprehensible without sacrificing comprehensiveness. Not an architect, just a fairly new hobbyist for digital art. Having most of my drawing experience with paper, I found using a “paper-like” screen protector has been a game changer in my ability to be more precise with my initial sketches fwiw. Only downside is they eat up Apple Pencil tips much quicker than other screen protectors, but the benefits far outweigh the cost.
@@DamiLeeArch - There is no workaround for the tip-consumption w/"paper" screen protectors. Fortunately you can buy third-party tips fairly inexpensive in quantity on Amazon. In my experience, after using an iPad Pro 12 for several years, I've moved off the paper screen protectors. Not because of the tip issues; rather, primarily due to slightly reduced sensitivity/accuracy. It's not a substantial amount but it's enough, particularly when I'm using conceptual massing tools.
How is this woman, an architect, which in itself is an extremely complex, demanding discipline... and still be able to produce content which really is of professional level quality.. truly amazing. She's a natural speaker, with incredible presentation skills... rare type of talent.. wow
That’s literally what I’m thinking. I’m a foreman currently going back to school to get my bachelors for computer science but one of the never even consider architecture till now will look into it I have a m4 iPad Pro tbh
I'm not an architect and I watch your videos just out of interest and your perspective but making your own templates and tools available to the public is super cool. Thank you.
I'm a network engineer by trade, but I love listening/watching these videos. Every once in a while, I need to submit propose floor plans for equipment like routers, access points, etc. Typically my job will be to physically be on site to map the locations, to then have the architects or whoever implement them into the proposed floor plans. After submitting mine, they usually send a response to the effect of "uhhh, these plans look completed, we don't know who did these. we don't have to touch them, they are good to go". I have my iPad to thank for that. Great video!
You helped sell me on getting an iPad. I’ve been on the fence about it but seeing how you applied it to work helped me see how beneficial it would be for me at work as well. It would honestly be a game changer. Thanks! Update: I did get an iPad/apple pen and it is in fact game changing.
I use my ipad all the time, even for work, and I work in advertising. I get so curious how other people in different professions utilize the ipad i.e. doctors, lawyers, design artists, etc. and never really thought that it would be also useful for architects or engineers! This is awesome! I just saw this video on my page and I’m so happy I watched the whole thing. Loving the vibe! :)
I've been contemplating on whether or not I should get one for work knowing I go on site visits every now and then. But seeing that I won't need to carry a thick stack of drawings on one hand and my phone on the other absolutely justified my decision. Thank you for this! 😁
My pleasure! Yeah I honestly hate carrying stuff and am always trying to reduce, so having to only carry around an iPad for most of my needs has been a breath of fresh air
Aside from using the iPad stand-alone by sketching or having out at a job-site, I keep it next to my computers (iMac 27" and M1 Max 16" MBPro). I'll be doing ArchiCAD on my iMac, Twinmotion on my laptop (the M1 Max Chip rules at this), and I'll use my iPad for ALL other apps so I don't have to switch out of the programs to do emails, or texting, Notion, or PDF review, etc., etc., (and of course, managing my music playlists as I work). I use the iPad natively, and "not" as an extended display. The thing that brings it all together is "Universal Control" which enables me to use a single keyboard, trackpad and mouse across all three devices. It's amazing how well it works! When out at job sites, I actually save CAD plans/elevations out to high-res JPGs and use the Autodesk Sketchbook app for marking up, dimensioning, etc., while on-site. I found doing these tasks in a raster-based mode is much easier than marking up a PDF with vector annotation tools. It's basically like Photoshop or Procreate on the iPad as well. Keep up the great channel!
As a practicing architect and a fan of hand drawing I have never been able to find the correct work flow process for me while considering time, quality, order etc until now. I can now see how an ipad is a GAME CHANGER for my career and am excited to go all out! Special thank you to your videos, your content and your advice I can finally take that step for my future. I also appreciate the available templates as well 😅
In Procreate, Turn on “drawing assist” on the layer option when you have perspective grid on so you don’t have to draw a line and hold for straight line ;) Love your videos and I’m also Korean, a Architecture student studying in the US. Good to know you on TH-cam!
Super duper ultra mega game changer, thank god for technology!!! I'm in interior design and I've been using this technique for almost a year now. One thing I hated the most when using pen and paper was the effort of erasing and sketching it all over again.
This is so informative! I am an architect in the Philippines and have my iPad as well but only used for watching movies and document editing.I never thought this could be very helpful to our profession! More videos to come! I enjoyed it a lot 🥰
i am an interior archi student and no one of our professors explain to us how the job work and how to work efficiently. I just bought an ipad because I knew it was easier than paper etc and i need it because i am really slow, I love trying and trying, I have always too much ideas, but i was lost with it ! Thank you a lot for your explanations !
Ive just stumbled on your channel from a random monitor review on my front page. Now i am going down the rabbit hole of your art/architecture and design videos. You're incredible ,and im hoping you stay motivated and keep putting out this dope sh*t.
I’ve been watching almost all your videos, I’m still in my early years of high school (sophomore year) but I’m trying to get a sense of what I wanna do in college, and architecture has always been up there! You’re videos are extremely helpful because they give me a perspective about being an architect that is literally impossible to find online. Anyways thank you! (Btw I’m still stuck between architecture and industrial engineering)
As a 25 years old as of now in his laster semester before I need to write my master thesis I just can say: Try it out ! If it is possible/affordable for you to try out these types of work do it. If this is what you really like than let nothing stop you from going that way. And if you find out midway, that it is not what you want to do in the long run then this is also an important lesson and you can try something else. Just now that sometimes there are hard days everywhere. I wish you all the best on your way and that you will be happy with whatever route you might take.
Many architects in the past also made and produced commercially available furniture and other items...choose architecture if I were u, because it's more design driven, industrial engineering is a more manufacturing-driven field
@@PTSG77-yy8lk Yes! Surprisingly even 8 months later and it’s still me trying to decide between the two! Haha anyways thanks for your input, it’s always helpful having comments like them!
Yo, I'm loving the floofy hair; it looks amazing! 💅 Thank you for the templates! Another reason you can feel confident on site is the fact that you simply have the iPad. Having tools on you says: "I'm here to get stuff done!"

It’s insteresting to see we all project designers share some common challenges in the industry, like time! It happens to me all the time: it was for yesterday! You are already late and didn’t know about it 😂 Me and my boyfriend have our own structural engineering company and we are moving to Montreal to open our first branch in CANADA! I’ll keep watching your videos and hope we can meet some day.
Love my iPad pro! Aside from the usual drawing/photo editing work flow, it also got me exploring 3d sculpting. Touch controls *just* made sense. Also, hair ✨amazing✨
Your content is so flawless, I really don't understand how you haven't achived 1M yet. Please, keep the hard work. I love architecture and your approach amazes me!
Perhaps because you say you're a "new architect," you don't realize what rock-solid good advice you're giving to be "well-prepared" when visiting a jobsite. Lot's of "seasoned" architects could also benefit from such a work ethic, I assure you. Keep up the good work. I very much appreciate your perspective on the move to iPad. I've spent *countless* hours in the field with a tape measure, camera and clipboard and I'm just beginning this transition with high hopes.
I have been using Ipad since 2018 and it has changed my work ( design process, reviews and more) I also use Procreate, Notability and acrobat alot and i will definitely buy those Procreate brush set ! Thanks for a great video : ))
i had a dream as a kid to be an architect, i was always bad at maths, and told i could never be an architect by my school and college, so i went down the artistic route, i use a lot of the same processes for designing of products, and now after seeing this great video, its making me want to pursue architecture, i have sketchbooks filled with buildings ive imagined over 20 years, maybe i can actually see them built who knows. thanks Dami Lee :)
You dont necessarily have to be good with maths, but you need to know some basic math at least anyway, it will depend on the focus of the architecture school you choose, go for it!
I love this video! I love how you talk about different topics and really convince anyone to make more use of their iPad. You keep producing dope sh*t. Keep it up.
Moved up to a pricier version for better screen resolution and processor th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA , but battery drains faster, and not having a button for control of apps turns out to be a problem. Touch ID is harder to use than with the old button on the front. Can't really see the better screen resolution or see increase in speed, etc with better processor
I'm an older architect from abroad who works as a senior architectural technologist in Calgary. To discover your channel was like opening a window to a beautiful and sunny landscape, receiving a strong current of fresh air. I love it. A technical question, do you know if we can use the same apps having the same result with a Samsung Tablet? Cheers.
I’m a former autocad operator back then, procreate is way too easy than autocad but I’m still on process on how to use it. Thanks for sharing and giving us some suggestions!
As an old school architect, its superb for work flow and colabs worldwide but old school sketches are still the best and beautiful on tracing paper, using china ink pen. Free hand sketches like Oscar Niemeyer, Siza Vieira, or late Barry Berkus which has good sketches tutorials on youtube are the way to go. When you are drawing, your brain feels more the process and the space awareness than digital and templates. Its like using real buildings models than Renders 3ds.
I got an iPad to help study and organize my notes for the ARE and have also used it to sketch over plans, since we mostly do interiors. I found that it’s a helpful tool for myself to get ideas down faster than on trace paper. I still find it hard to sketch details and other dwgs of that type on the iPad as opposed to a physical sketchbook and I think it’s due to the constraints of a physical page as opposed to a digital pg you can manipulate. Hope to get better at that
I just recently bought a iPad pro and I am pretty new at designing on it. I am planning on designing a Environmentally Friendly Animal Shelter and this video is extremely helpful I will definitely be watching your other videos.🙂
I'm not architect but I love your videos so much. Interesting enough I bought a big android tablet couple days ago to do sketches either for my woodworking ideas or 3D stuff for my 3D printers. Its better than paper just for iterations and also cloud save to have it backed up just in case oh and transferred to my pc for future work.
Not an Architect but a designer and yes even owning the cheapest iPad actually saves our work tons of time especially the iteration/conceptual process.
You're just amazingg, as an architect I can understand how much iPad has changed my life... will definitely use your brushes and paper sets 💕 you're amazing , Loveyou ❤

Good job Demi!! Can you give me an advice on where to start studying Procreate in the field of architecture and interior design? I have procreate. The problem is that I don't really know how to use it independently.
I am currently in high school I would like to study architecture but their are many things that throws me off about it . But I always come back to it since I enjoy doing the drawing and sketching of it Eventually down the line I will like to also study building engineering I will be finishing high school at a younger age than usual So am still quit young and confused 😕 about curtain things But thx much for your videos they have helped me clear up some stuff
Thank you for all the tips you gave us in this video. I study product design and I use so much my Ipad, especially when I need to create moodboards or sketches.
This is a great video. I’m still trying to make the most of my iPad at work. I want to know more about how you use ClickUp and how you manage the project design phases. Trying to manage 4 or more projects at once and deadlines and managing others is a pain point for me.
Couldn't agree more. I'm an architect and iPad has been a life changing device. Couldn't work as efficiently now without one 😂. some of my fav apps are goodnotes, Sketchup and BIMx. all my projects drawings, 3d model and notes all in one for presentation, portfolio and everything. Couldn't wait to play around more with Procreate as well. Thank you for sharing
This reminded me of the time my boss made me print an ungodly amount of plans for a site review, like, half a pack of A3 papers lmao. And of course it was me, the intern, who got to haul them around on a gigantic clipboard while walking up and down stairs for three consecutive days😂
Epic video!!!! Im an architect and illustrator, an iPad has been awesome for my workflow. Haha. I feel the same as you when using the iPad and it's been an EPIC tool for meetings and modifying plans on the go. Cheers!
@@DamiLeeArch haha... yeah! is so versatile. I use it in meetings a lot, sharing screen into a TV so everyone sees what im drawing is awesome. Im drawing a comic book also on it haha. mindblowing.
Can you please please do a detail video of how to use notability in context of making notes taking photos for dimensions and how it could be used to record client meetings notes over floor plan drawings.

It is such an amazing video 🌻 I have been thinking of getting one but can’t really decide which size to get. Would you prefer 11” Ipad or 12.9” one to make drawings?

Thank you for your inspiring video! I'm an architect too and want to make a step forward in buying an iPad for all the work steps you mentioned (sketching, markup, internal reviews and site visits). Would you recommend to go with a 11" or a 13" iPad Air? I'm not sure about the best size for all these different use cases... thank you for a short feedback and regards!
Thank you for sharing the links of what your using! I love this idea but everyone just say they use an Ipad as you know there are many options and I didn't want to purchase a Ipad and then regret not getting one with other feature. I am looking a Sketchup. Can you let me know why you went with the software you did? Ill watch this video more to find out if you say why. Thank you for sharing!
Are you using LIDAR on the iPad?😊 Also what do you use if you want to draw to scale, as in recording measurements in the site by drawing the plan. Can you tell I just got an Ipad for my birthday? Also our office is exploring the next CAD solutions (Mac and Ipad).
If this would have been available during my college days, life would have been so different... I recognize all the struggles though (and the miles of tracing paper!) 😉 Awesome solution to use your Ipad for this instead! Thanks for this upgraded journey back in time. ✌️
I'm sorry, should have come out saying how much I'm a fan of your presentation and content. I'm going into landscape design, but there's a ton of overlap that I'm gleaning from you. Thank you for taking time and energy to make great content on yt!
Hey! Amazing video and helps a lot. I am also an architect, and I wanted to know as of this moment what is the most recommended iPad in your opinion? Thank you
Hey not sure if you ever mentioned it before but what ipad do you have 12.9 or 11. I'm an architecture student and i would like to buy one just not sure which one is more comfortable.
Kia ora Dami and Mānawatia a Matariki / Happy Māori New Year from Aotearoa New Zealand. Love your videos! What are your thoughts on what physical size, memory size and iPad version to get as a minimum, and do you connect it to your PC? I use Revit and I'm about to buy a PC because I Bootcamp my MacBook Pro but it cant handle everything and is a pain to go from Mac to PC.
so your collection of trees, figures, furniture were produced by you on procreate to form your library? i have a whole collection of these on autocad 😅. can i convert my cad block library to procreate library?

When you are drawing, your brain feels more the process and the space awareness than digital and templates.
Its like using real buildings models than Renders 3ds.
The best elaborated explanation so far. Thank you very much 👍
I got an iPad to help study and organize my notes for the ARE and have also used it to sketch over plans, since we mostly do interiors. Hope to get better at that
This is really helpful for me because I keep trying but the areas of lack, I never stick with it. Been waiting for it to get better..
How to make yellow paper in the procreate app? Looks so good
"...but usually the needed that information like... yesterday!" ahhh yeah, the beautiful construction business. Always on the run... feels like home!
ASAP everything 😃
Thanks Dami for this priceless information. I am currently planning to buy the ipad to help me in my workflow in architecture. What a gem!
Nicely done. I'm beginning to see the appeal of using an IPad for architecture. But you have to admit that pen and paper still comes in handy.
For sure, I don’t think iPad can ever totally replace pen and paper, both for function and feel
What kind of apps do you use?
@@DamiLeeArch 🤣I think TH-cam is broken again, I have replied to this twice and I think it gets filtered out. in summary I'm using sketchbook.
I can't explain why my heart is pounding uncontrollably.
Have you found a cheaper alternative to the Apple Pencil? Great video!
Absolutely pretty (Masha'Allah)
Intelligent
Knows how to draw
Creative
AND knows how to teach others too
Just came across dami and she's already my insipiration fr
Contemplating getting an ipad for architecture and this video pretty much decides it. 💸💸
Good job Demi!!
Can you give me an advice on where to start studying Procreate in the field of architecture and interior design?
I have procreate. The problem is that I don't really know how to use it independently.
Intresting 😶🌫️❤️
I am currently in high school
I would like to study architecture but their are many things that throws me off about it . But I always come back to it since I enjoy doing the drawing and sketching of it
Eventually down the line I will like to also study building engineering
I will be finishing high school at a younger age than usual
So am still quit young and confused 😕 about curtain things
But thx much for your videos they have helped me clear up some stuff
Henry Gao creates amazing content based on an ipad workflow!
I'm first year in architecture but i learn lot of things your video and i really enjoy, thank you for giving us Valuevable knowledge..
I'm currently in school for Architecture. Thank you for the advice
i don't watch ur videos, not an architect, subscribed and will watch hopefully regularly. Nice Video, thanks
I don't own an ipad or study anything related to architecture but this video was so helpful.
This is my dream job…turned out to be a self taught graphic designer for over a decade…
I have always wanted to become an architect, here in a few years hopefully that will be my full time reality.
Great video.. I will start to learn and sketch on my iPad for my field verifications..make it more fun
Thank you for telling us the best app used
So helpful, thank you! Really liked the site visit stuff you showed
Very interesting approach. Have you ever tried using Sketchbook? To me, the app is more geared towards the building design field.
Cheers!
Genuinely changed my life? 😆
@@DamiLeeArch haha... yeah! is so versatile. I use it in meetings a lot, sharing screen into a TV so everyone sees what im drawing is awesome. Im drawing a comic book also on it haha. mindblowing.
Love the drawn little people.
Can you please please do a detail video of how to use notability in context of making notes taking photos for dimensions and how it could be used to record client meetings notes over floor plan drawings.
Great video! Where are your templates to download?
Your video helps me motivate myself for architect im just studying 12th but still I'm fixed i wanna choose architecture and ur videos helps me a lot to make my decision ❤️💜
Very interesting to see an example professional iPad workflow. I know zilch about architecture so double that
Me, not an architect / engineer : This will definitely help me in the near future.
It is such an amazing video 🌻
I have been thinking of getting one but can’t really decide which size to get. Would you prefer 11” Ipad or 12.9” one to make drawings?
My predicament exactly
Same
Thank you so much for spending time to making these incredibly useful videos! If I may ask, what app are you using to mark-up the pdfs on your iPad?
Hi Dami, great work, you finally helped me decide to buy it! The thing is I dont know which one is yours? And which memory card you recommed me? Thanks a lot
Thank you so much for the links and I’d like to see more videos like this🙏❤️❤️
Very very good video. very helpful.. i am a "Self Taught Maniac" lol lol
I am into many things.. one of my favorites is Design.. specially Architecture, Interior and Industrial Design..
Specially since Im a Photographer... and A dancer and worked in Hospitality for a few Decades... lol among many other things I do... or Love to do!...
Also... In Your "Video Description" Can you list the Apps you use in This Video! please
Such a great video!!!
Practical and useful even if iPad is not the preferred tool. Loved it. Thanks so much for this.
My pleasure 😇
Thank you for the video. Would you recommend the 12-inch version or smaller for our field of work?
Thank you for your inspiring video! I'm an architect too and want to make a step forward in buying an iPad for all the work steps you mentioned (sketching, markup, internal reviews and site visits). Would you recommend to go with a 11" or a 13" iPad Air? I'm not sure about the best size for all these different use cases... thank you for a short feedback and regards!
Big documentation flexibility. Great video Arch.Demi. useful, helpful, convincing.
01:14 that was genies 🤯
I’m architech and i loved your video
If this would have been available during my college days, life would have been so different... I recognize all the struggles though (and the miles of tracing paper!) 😉 Awesome solution to use your Ipad for this instead! Thanks for this upgraded journey back in time. ✌️
I would love a walkthrough of your process with ClickUp. That looks essential
I'm sorry, should have come out saying how much I'm a fan of your presentation and content. I'm going into landscape design, but there's a ton of overlap that I'm gleaning from you. Thank you for taking time and energy to make great content on yt!
Thanks for this video, I bought an IPad, and it have been really helpfull, but I dont know how to pass the information between the IPad and my Pc
Hey hey Dami, have you tried Morpholio? I personally love it, but would like to hear your opinion! Love your channel!
No I haven’t really used Morpholio but I’ve been getting lots of recommendations, so I think I will try it out
Kia ora Dami and Mānawatia a Matariki / Happy Māori New Year from Aotearoa New Zealand.
Most Beautiful architect❤❤
so your collection of trees, figures, furniture were produced by you on procreate to form your library? i have a whole collection of these on autocad 😅. can i convert my cad block library to procreate library?
Dami, can you please make a video about what Architecture is like to study at uni, and also how people can prepare before starting a course.
I have several videos on that topic, check out my videos under the ‘School’ playlist
