Be warry of the firmware update. The ANC is destroyed after the initial FW update. The ANC in my right ear bud, crackles and pops. The problem isn't isolated, there are reddit threads. The Gamebuds work fine with ANC disabled.
@Ghost88o9 they make a update yesterday , they fix the ps5 low volumen with the xbox buds version!!the anc is another issue that they have to solve soon
Thanks a lot for the detailed review! Do these have bluetooth multipoint at all without using the dongle? I assume not, since I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.
I cant work out how to do a firmware update at all. I've put the usb dongle in the laptop, I've plugged the usb-c cable into it, and again into the case with the gamebuds in at the other end, I've downloaded the steelseries app and gone to Engine section, but it doesn't 'see' my gamebuds. Any ideas?
Nope. I'm in the Engine section and it just says PLEASE CONNECT A STEELSERIES ENGINE ENABLED DEVICE. The USB dongle is in the back of the PC, the usb-c in that, and in the case with the earbuds in, but nothing. This is one of the worst firmware update methods I think I've ever seen if my computer can't even detect the bloody buds.
I do find it interesting you need to download the firmware from a PC, considering many don't use a PC nowadays. I'm guessing these aren't designed for just milling around listening to music on the go, but rather for gaming while sitting at your PC? I like the look of them, Steelseries' branding always looks quite slick. 😊
Something that most people aren't mentioning about these is that the volume level through a PS5 is far too low. Even with the volume turned up to max and the volume limiter off you can barely hear anything. A fix for this though is to create a custom EQ on PC and crank up the levels. However I had issues saving custom EQ's to the units. So instead I used the Baldurs Gate 3 EQ which for some bizarre reason massively increases the gain and solves the issue.
