Wasn't transfering for myrmidon better? You'd still require a scam, but you could invest far less resources into it. Both scam and cleave, it made no sense to me why you'd skip them

maybe they should change Nomi to give you an elemental at the end of turn or discover one at the start of your turn. something like that.
