Todd is a tricky player with old school type game who didn't give you pace, a la Manarino. Winston, you returned very well, and did a good job extending the points... patience won the day.
He plays exactly like my coach friend. Just content to keep the ball in and let me miss. Sometimes when he gets a sitter he will put some pace on it and put it away. It's really hard to beat these guys unless you are consistent and have weapons that can move them around. Oh anytime I play singles with my friend, he's a 4.5, I might get 1 or 2 games where he is fooling around.
He’s indeed a pusher.
Gold content. Todd's effortless style is addictive and looks very effective. Would love to see him get into it and see his improved version later on for sure.
Winston, would love to see some older guys like Todd still hittin' some good balls.
Thanks as always for the awesome content.
M
Todd footfaulted like crazy 😭
that's not a fault, that's a feature at that point.
Winston wins from all the footfaults alone
Absolutely not relevant at this level.
More of "whole body fault".. Geez
@@TenisAmadorYes, it is. There are rules. How about touching the net on a volley? Perhaps reaching across the net to hit a volley winner? Or maybe you prefer hitting on a double bounce/not up? Where do you draw the line “at this level”? Get out of here. 🤣
Like to see us experienced fellas on court still banging. Like the deliberate play of Todd, and you can see where the strokes are. Good to hear he is building back. And good play as always Winston. Cheers fellas.
Todd gassed out in 10 minutes
Decent player won't do that.
Winston been watching for a long time. You have really been working on your game of late. Forehand bend is beautiful and the backhand is flat and hard. Enjoy your hard work.
I like Todd’s effortless one hand backhand…makes me want to try it (again 😂). Winston, you are improving with every video!
Love the mature tennis of Todd! When we age, we have to rely on efficiency of motion, old-man spin, and other tricks!
By old man spin do you mean backspin
😆
Jeeez Winston your backhand has improved so much since your old videos!!
@06:05 Dang Todd!! That SABR looked GREAT!!
Aw! Baby Tis! Looks just like daddy ‘Tis! This is an excellent video my dude. You are a great dude my friend. If I ever visit California I want to get together for a fun match. I would have so much fun playing tennis with you, win lose or drawl, we would have fun in our match. This was a great match Winston thank you for posting this video my dude.
Todd foot faults on every. Single. Serve.
And I thought I was the only middle-aged dude playing with a Head Instinct MP 😂 Love that racquet!
We would like to see a rematch after Todd gets in shape!
Oh yeah
Todd has one of the smoothest and effortless forehand strokes.
Well played by Winston, some smooth tennis at times from Todd. As an older player who used to play with multifilament and switched to poly, the groundstroke consistency with way more power and spin is off the charts in comparison, I can hit sooo much harder now -- and so I wonder how it would be if Todd switched to the Hyper G Round or at least like mains with poly and crosses with multi if concerns over the arm. I feel like he would have made a good deal more of his attacking shots, playing with multi it feels so much harder to consistently make aggressive groundstrokes thus the impetus for more slicing, taking the ball early and getting to net.
@7:47 serve was in
He said let.
He definitely said no, not let otherwise they would have replayed the point
Hey Winston your video audio is always so clear, what do you do to remove/reduce wind noise with your gopro, do you have any accessories or mufflers that help with that issue?
I don't do anything
Just out of curiosity How fast is the wind going there? I live in Florida and I was practicing my serve yesterday and the wind was in the 20 mph range and my toss was blowing everywhere. Did the wind affect your serve today fellas? I am just wondering?
Todd is smooth, and his old school style is refreshing to watch. Liked this video a lot!
Nothing surprises me more as a significant oldster than the forehand grip serve...all the way to Roger.
Yes it's a mild Eastern (not always), but far removed from the old "do it this way" days.
Hey Todd, didn't you use to live in DFW? I think we used to play with each other. You're still killing it!
I did live in DFW for a bit! Small world.
You should try doing a doubles match with todd, dylan and trey. I think that would make for some fun matches since you all are similar levels (except dylan of course lol)
todd’s game is inspiringly smooth
Yes
Great competitive match! Todd has a great slice backhand. Like the previous video, Winston's backhand is on fire.
Hey Dub, you really are playing better.
Winston, you need to increase Karue’s coaching salary. You are playing some brilliant tennis. Todd, your strokes are silky smooth, effortless power.
7:47 that's sooo in Winston :D
Lol
I thought that was in too, but found it was likely out after checking the slow motion.
@@zlzhao1104 You must be right, that was soooo totally out.
it was a let
I thought I heard him say let
Toddster did well. Kind of hard when the fitness levels of both players are so far apart.
Todd got a beautiful game
Good defense and returning
Winston if it hits the line it’s in
Todd was a very smart player.
One glaring thing is that Todd comes close to the baseline after hitting every shot, then when a shot comes to him, he backs up and hits. He looses power and penetration with this back up footwork pattern.
Instead, he should recover by back up after every shot and then come forward into every shot. This will give more natural power and consistency and add heaviness to the ball.
*loses
you have so many opportunities to come to net you should take
your forehand is such a great weapon its unfortunate you return to the baseline after some really good attacking balls
Exactly my thought
@Winston Du Awesome are you sponsored by Lacoste?
Winston, my man, a Lacoste polo and no socks that’s pushing it 😂
🤣
Todd is a smart player.
More one-handed bach-hand players! Fed next
Clinical 1 backhander drop from Todd
This guy is definitely not a 5.0. He’s a 4.5 and that’s perfectly fine. His body language was very poor which led to him somewhat tanking. Maybe he was feeling the nerves of being filmed, but his mechanics, footwork & shot selections were not of a 5.0 player.
Winston, I actually would like to see you use the reverse forehand more when you’re behind the baseline. You’re creating more revolutions on the ball and can hit some tricky patterns with the reverse.
Todd looked rusty and out of shape or maybe just tired.
He said *was*
As an aging grinder (early 40s), I'm interested in adopting/learning a less grueling style at the 4.5/5.0 level. Todd looks like me, especially the unforced errors.
Loved all of his backhand slices ✅♥️
But seeing none of the complete backhands is boring 🥴
todd is one cool cat
Random question, what camera setup do you use? Footage always crispy 💪🏽🙌🏽
Dang Winston those groundies are looking 5.0. Other aspects are still in the 4.5 range
Hi everyone, it's Todd. Quick shout out to Winston for having me on the channel even though I had no business being out here. 🙂
It was a fun experience, and a little surreal having the camera there and a reminder that this could get a lot of views.
I learned a lot from playing this match and watching it later and realizing I can't be so passive. I have to keep focused on my strategy and getting after my shots.
I look forward to our rematch!
And yes, all your comments are true!
The serve at 7:45 was in.
He is just out of shape for competitive tennis. Tennis is all about footwork. I'm his age and in similar shape. I can play really well for like 3 games and then my game drops like crazy
From this video, Todd's strokes are smooth, but he doesn't have the mobility to get to the ball and keep a rally going. In his current physical shape, he would lose to most 4.5 singles players (like Winston) who are steady and move the ball around the court. He was out of gas after 10 minutes of singles and won almost none of the rallies that went beyond 3-4 shots. He might be a bit better in doubles, but otherwise, pickleball might be a better option.
For context, I was a computer rated 5.0 from 2015-2017, which was the last time that I played in USTA leagues (So Cal section), so I'm commenting from my personal experience here.
USTa ratings must be tougher in Miami
Should really be USTA Section rating. I've heard it expressed that different areas vary.
Good win Winston! By Todd is in no way a 5.0 player… he doesn’t have the stamina. Way to many errors
I would to play a match with you
Did he say he strings his racket at 34lbs?!
Yes
Yup. Bumping it up a bit after this match. 34 is toooo low.
@@toddmueller I’m impressed that you can even get the ball in the court with such low tension
Todd is a 4.0 in my estimation; so let's get aptly titled here..lol good job though, getting out there...36 lbs tho?, eesh i'm 60 and I'm still at 53 lbs, poly on mains plus wilson-sensation on the cross
Это чет такое из 70-х,в леворучный немного Борга напоминает,плоские удары.
UTR 8 is like a good 4.5, this guy looks more like a 7
He just looks very out of shape. You can see the vestiges of a true 5.0 in there.
Surprised about the 5.0 self rating of Todd
He’ll be here in south Florida a 3.5/4.0 player for sure
You'd be wrong
It's not a self-rating. Was a 5.0 a few years ago by the USTA.
Winston won just by the amount of foot faults by Todd.
Todd is a solid 4.5 def not 5.0
7:49 Todd being robbed
Played in college? Not so sure about that. You’d quickly learn not to foot fault. I’d call that shit on you every time!
Todd just needs to work on his fitness which he knows. You can't get fit by playing tennis, you need to be fit to play tennis.
WInston is such an ohio skibidi rizzer with his gyatt out so bad
on skibidi he goated
brodie's not 5.0
Was going to un-sub if you lost this one, Winston 😂
Kinda hard to watch 😢
Fr
I like how relaxed Todd hits.
U 2 go play pickle ball instead 😅
Lol 5.0 footfalting all serve
Thats alot of foot fault
