    Great video.. I have a 2009 S8, and I just put on the wheel spacers, and it looks great.. I got the VCDS & Cable and plan on adding these changes as well.. Thanks for the other videos you have posted they have been very informative. After some other changes like the X-pipe & Intake Manifold spacers (Part# JHM-07L133074B-07L133073E) I'm going to use the VDCS software to advance my timing a little bit.. Thanks again for the great videos..

    Hello. I did pretty much the same thing to my A6 via VCDS. As you probably know this results also in a lowering of the HIGH position with the same amount of mm. Have you found any tweak , something to change in the numbers so that the HIGH position stays the same as before, or that you can actually define the height for it, independent of the LOW position?

      When you work on lift.. Does the car been in lift or dynamic mode?
      Thankss

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm not sure I quite understand the question, but changing the ride height will affect all modes equally. If you lower 20mm, then lift mode will be 20mm lower than normal, and dynamic will be 20mm lower than normal. I hope that answers your question.

    I am about to do very similar with my 2008 S8. Do you know if it Is possible to make individual height changes to different suspension modes with the VCDS system?
    What I am after is to lower the car in Dynamic and Comfort modes while still keep the original ride height at High-mode. (It is needed with the high High-mode due to a high curb to access my driveway.)

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, unfortunately. Lowering the car using VCDS will lower all setting the same amount. Lift will still work, but it just won't lift as high as it did stock.

    • @ronnystaberg2742
      @ronnystaberg2742 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the quick reply, even though it was not what I wanted to hear ;-)
      Unfortunately I am just able to clear the curb with the original "High" mode so I will then run into trouble if lowering the car. Since I will install a smaller body kit as well it will not make it easier. (On my Range Rover I can do completely individual settings of each ride height via computer and had hoped this could do the same.)
      Well it seems like I will have to spend some time and money to modify the curb.
      Again, thanks for a great channel, it certainly inspires me and others.

    I have an '07 S8 so I'm glad I found you. My question pertains to the suspension setting within the MMI system. When you adjusted the ride height, did you use the comfort setting or the dynamic setting as the placeholder?

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man! Thanks for watching! There is no ride height difference between comfort and dynamic. The only difference is the stiffness of the dampers. Lift is the only setting that changes the ride height of the car. So, to answer your question, the changes made to the ride height will apply to all settings, including lift. So, even lift mode is 25/20mm lower than stock with my settings. I hope that makes sense.

    • @lpratt3
      @lpratt3 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks

    • @AutoDetour

    I'm planning on lowering to European height (down 10mm or so from U.S. requirements). I'm also about to have an alignment done. Does lowering change alignment specifications? Should I lower and then align or align then lower? I lowered my VW Phaeton with no problems throughout 150k miles, but that is a D3 platform, my A8 is D4. Thanks for any input you can provide.

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are only going to go down 10mm, it shouldn't change the alignment specs, but since you are having it aligned anyway, wait until after you lower it. It is best to have a car aligned when it is at the final height that you want it. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching my video!

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you shouldn't have to do anything with your ride height sensors. They should be calibrated to your current ride height during the process. Bending them will mess with your ride height. The headlights should be unrelated to this process.
