I think that Ajax will be good as a support card for another archetype such as high Evo or hazmat. In order to add another win condition but not only gravitate around Ajax
I think the small package will be more versatile, leaves more room for control/wildcards. I'm going to try an Ajax/Darkhawk deck with Mystique to borrow whichever one gets played. Easy enough to fit Hazmat and Man-Thing in there some where and maybe some more ongoing cards to give more options for Mystique to grab. Enjoy your vacation, you deserve it!
2 days ago I commented that Ajax would be better with more support, but now I think (without playing the game) he should go in a small package with itself, Hazmat and one or two of Yellowjacket, US Agent, Man-Thing or Scorpion with the possible addition of White Widow if the deck wants another 2 cost.
I said he would only be worth playing if he goes to 12 power while keeping the rest of the cards in the deck good. By that I meant investing in his power shouldn't sacrifice too much power of the other cards (like Typhoid Mary, High Evo cards or 1 power Lizard). However, when writing the rest of that comment I completely forgot the second part of that sentence.
So now I recognise the only good way to consistently get him to 12+ is with Hazmat. But I think he needs one or two other good affliction cards to prevent him being a dead draw without Hazmat. For that reason I now think he should be a small package with Hazmat and maybe one or two other negative afllicting cards put in mostly clog or Annihilus decks.
I think Ajax will be better as part of a small package based on past history and successful decks. As this will give you more ways to win than going all in.
Death of a Thousand cuts should be the way to go with Ajax. I hadn't thought of using Scorpion and Master Mold. That's quite ingenious.
I'd prefer ajax to just fit in an normal affliction deck, but he might just be better as a combo with him and hazmat under a an invisible woman.
I think that a small package will be more competitive, but the all-in will be so much more fun and goofy!

Hope you find some time for a holiday this summer glazer, my favourite thing to do in snap is brew + try new decks. With work it’s often hard to find time for both so I really enjoy checking the channel each day for decks.
Snapping aside, as a young professional who frequently worries about how the world is shaping geopolitically I very much appreciated the end of your last video. It’s easy to get carried away with the chaos and sensationalism so it’s sobering to be reminded there’s still plenty of good people out there with rational and well nuanced perspectives of the world.

Because he is only concerned with the number of cards being afflicted with negative power rather than how MUCH negative power is being put out, I honestly think him being in a High Evo or just running Hazmat in normal decks makes the most sense. Going overboard with the Hazmat/Wong/Odin combo is just overkill, and can be comped out by Luke Cage (remember when he got nerfed? maybe now is the time for that again lol).
another cool video. I think Ajax should be played in small package with card like hazmat, surprizing the oppenent on last turn (in ramp deck or turn 7), shifting the power distribution on the board.
Going all in on negative is to risky, but a package of smaller things that work on thier own could be the way to go with him. Especially 1st week
I think Ajax will find a home in High Evo. I don't foresee it becoming a strong 2-3 card package like the Sentry/Annihilus one.

I think Ajax needs to be in a small shell similar to Anni Sentry. We've recently seen the power of small packages (think Angela, thena, kitty) take over the meta as they get played alongside generically good cards.
My gut says that you need to go all in with Ajax but it often seems the optimal play is to just run a shell of the best cards
I prefer to put him in a small package with already strong archetypes like High Evo and Arishem. High Evo for direct synergy and Arishem because I can run a bunch of tech cards to address counters to Ajax. The Arishem archetype can already go so tall so it's just a bonus if I don't pull my big boys.
Ajax being ongoing instead of on-reveal means the power can go away at the end. So with less control than Gilgamesh I would say a package of 3 or 4 cards... Maybe Lizard?
Clog affliction with Ajac seems great against Arishem, which I still see quite a bit of.

The meme potential is very strong with an all-in negative deck for Ajax. I think you're correct that he'll be a sleeper that will inspire rage in the middle of next month.

I think Ajax will need an all-in strategy with things like rogue to counter Luke cage. It's going to be like arishem and dark hawk if he's good enough.
In High Evo, where you can add a very good amount of power alongside Ajax, I think he is OK, and probably hence his buff. Other than than that, I really him shine when you fully exploit his power, in a Hazmat Mystique deck, and I strongly believe that if it's not properly answered in a shell like that he's coming back to a 5/5.
I think he will be great in a supergiant deck as a replacement engine for Ronan and will be ok every where else.
I'm really curious how Cassandra is going to work, but a clog affliction deck seems fun.

At least initially it'll be better to have Ajax as an alternate win condition because there will certainly be a lot of Luke Cage around so going hard into affliction won't be a good idea. Using Shaw Surfer or HE Hulk as the other win con will give more outs.
I would prefer a small package with 3 cards such as Ajax, Hazmat, Typhoid Marry. You can combine that with other small packages such as Mysterio, Mockingbird, Sasquatch, HE-Package etc
Running Ajax I think will require running a Rogue to remove the opponents Luke. Also for the release week grabbing the opponents Ajax will be cool. A last turn Rogue and Hazmat will be game winning.... maybe :)
I think I prefer an all in approach, build around Ajax to make him so tall and can fight Darkhawk. I would just run Rogue or maybe Cosmo if I often see counters to him.
This card would seriously pop off in a hela deck
I was glad Ajax got the buff before launch, surprised it didn't happen almost as soon as they buffed Gilgamesh.
I'm definitely taking the card a little more seriously, plus after skipping Bob I think I will open for him.
Deck wise, I prefer packages than going all in (unless I'm doing missions or abusing hot locations).
My personal problem is I've never enjoyed the affliction based decks, well aside from when I first unlocked Hazmat which feels like a million years ago now.
I like to play High Evo but it's not a deck that does well in the current meta, I like the sHEnaut flavours but Ajax may push me to give Abom and friends another run out.
At least in that shell, it will feel a bit like Gilgazoo does. Sure a lot does pump up Gilgamesh but the deck is using those parts for it's plan A anyway.
Same for affliction based Evo, you're still playing high stats and efficient cards, they just happen to zap the opponent.
I think a small package with something like hazmat will be more effective, just because it gives you more flexibility with still competing when someone has luke cage. I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak
Ajax synergizes with some cards so i guess will see him in a few decks,i think some decks will be based on him and in some others he will be a fill the deck role.
Congrats on 12k! Also I think Ajax will be found in all in decks first which has a higher ceiling but there might be fun builds that will work later which I think will be better.

tough question, but I believe that creating a small pack of cards that have synergy with Ajax is the best way to play with him, he is a card that is easily countered with Rogue, Luke Cage or Enchantress. Not to mention that it can increase the card's versatility, whoever gets him will be able to play in other types of decks.
I'm thinking make it a package in a Spectrum build. With Luke being such a hard counter if the opponent has it, you want some other way to go vertical yourself.

For Ajax, I think a small package will be more affective because there is so many ways to stop Ajax from doing his thing and you need a backup plan.
Like Annihilus, a small package will probably develop around Ajax. Right now that might be Hazmat and Scorpion.
Ajax will be good in small package with hazmat turn 6/Luke, but you can Also go all in on affliction, that's why he's a spleeper!!
I think Ajax will settle into a smaller package eventually. maybe a wong hazmat shell, maybe in High evo decks or a shell with with scorpion and typhoid. Not sure the optimal package yet, but Snap is all about packages > all in decks.
I believe it's better to go all in on a card like Ajax as I think it will catch players by surprise
For the video question, definitely first week when Luke Cage is everywhere it's probably not best to commit to negative power synergy too hard, but I'm interested to see how the card ends up working out I do hope it's good but as always we'll need to wait and see. Personally, not to be a hater but I doubt it'll ever be too crazy because if ever it gets too strong or meta you just throw in luke cage and play him late
Finally got around to playing that surfer deck with Wong sera onslaught and cutting red guardian for ironheart for the hot location and everyone sending me widow's kisses and man it's such a blast the sera Wong onslaught package with magik is just unbelievably strong and it's so easy to tell like a few turns in advance if your opponent has the tech they need or not and a lot of people don't know what to expect in a Wong onslaught lane then boom all of a sudden a 50 power sage and taskmaster drop the next turn lmao

I think he will be better in a small package deck like annihilus/sentry/hood. You will pair him with scorpion cassandra and hazmat for a 4 card package. im sure he will make a dedicated deck like high evo better, but my guess is he will shine best in a mixed affliction clog deck. with cassandra + darkhawk he will dumpster arishem decks. and in luke cage free metas he could be an easy climb to infinite.
For Ajax I see at first a mid range Annih & Debrii deck with Hazmat
I'll slot Ajax into my high evolution Scorpion deck.

Probably a small package is better. Toxic High EVO with Annihilus or Ankh's deck. I think Ajax will be better if we don't use him as our biggest card of the deck. But like you said, Ajax will be good in a few weeks.
I’m leaning towards more so making it with cards like man thing , USA agent , Selene, rouge , mystique, c. Nova , rather than HE or hazmat . If I did hazmat I may mess around with no Luke cage and going super tall and mystique him on another lane and basically win off of those two lol
I think Ajax will work better with a small package, like annihilus (with the hood and sentry) or darkhawk (with korg and rockslide), but i don't know which will be the third piece (the second is clearly hazmat): maybe scorpion, or debrii, or even typhoid mary!
I think it could work going in on like a HE deck or might fit the 5 spot in something like a toxic surfer deck. seems fun and excited to give it a try!

☣ I think Ajax will be best played in the Evo deck: Cyclops, The Thing, Wasp, Abomination, well, Scorpion and Spider-Woman can be added to them. Also, do not forget Rogue/Enchantress against Luke Cage, and then Cassandra Nova will appear in the game.
I think Ajax would be better in an all out affliction high synergy deck, but of course you need Rogue to take their Luke Cage!
Ajax all-in attrition deck! Just bring Rogue as insurance.

Love the videos. I try to watch everyday. Keep up the great work. I think Ajax will be pretty good in an all in negative power deck. I like the idea of running with a red guardian and/or rogue to counter Luke.
I don't think going all-in is the way to go, as long as Luke exists.
I struggle to think that this can be an effective package since you lose the shock factor of not playing Ajax + Hazmat in the same turn. It's almost like you have to carry the package with Sera or a ramp card for turn 5.
I will be playing it as part of a sera control or anihilus shell.

Ajax will probably be my skip for the month. I'm low on resources and I got Hydra Bob cause I was getting Galactus (took me only a year and 8 months to unlock him) Copycat though is a must get, her deck is already made and waiting
My first idea is put Ajax with my toxic high evo deck
I like him for Hazmat decks, ongoing us agent / man thing decks, and not much else. I don’t think that a little extra power is going to make him worthwhile to play as a 5 - so if you’re only getting incidental power in a Cassandra deck, I think I’d rather play, I dunno, Claw.
I would like to fit Ajax in a small package with Hazmat, you play more unpredictably that way

All-in Ajax might be too risky without a backup plan. A mix of 2-3 packages might do better.
With a card like that: I want to do the small package and just have counters in hand.

I think a package is the way for cubes here. Dropping hazmat & Ajax last turn, possibly looking like a different deck until that point. Just don't see high value with people expecting it.
Man thing and hazmat seem like the best fit for ajax, adding scorpion and typhoid is gonna be leaning too hard into one game plan imo
I think we've seen the folly of going all in on a card, for example with junk, so small package with hazmat is better me thinks

Not a talented deck builder by any means, but my take is that a small package will be better. Think something akin to 3-card splashes we've seen before of 'good stuff': Samurai, Black Bolt, Stature; or Hood, Sentry, Annihilus.

I like the small package, to encourage things that could stop this card from being played
I think we're not yet at enough just situational but mostly good negative power cards that you want to play anyway (man-thing, us agent, scorpion) because right now the problem is your not gaining power from your own cards your just moving it around

Typhoid Mary and Selene could have synergy with Ajax. Do goblins count as afflicted? Ajax is probably good with High Evo, but with Hazmat, I would probably also play Luke Cage.
I think Ajax is only worth playing if it goes past 12 power and the rest of the cards played are good, since other 5s are very strong. Because of this, it probably wouldn't work well in a small package and needs a decent amount of support. This will definetely be Hazmat, probably High Evo and Abom, maybe The Thing and Wasp, Spiderwoman, Scorpion, Man-Thing, US Agent and junk/junk synergies. Ajax is bad with Luke Cage, Typhoid, Lizard and Yellowjacket without Annihilus/Viper. I don't see Ajax being very good though without another buff to high evo or itself.
