    ALL legacy carmakers have had 20+ years to advance their technology, but have worked in cahoots with each other to release incremental upgrades over this time to the public, globally. Tesla enters the market and releases ground breaking features, technology and 'advances' in technology that all other car companies should have over this time. Now they are paying the price and are at least ten years behind. NO sympathy whatsoever. For example, the new Toyota BRx4 - a complete joke of a vehicle. Even previous market leaders like Mercedes, BMW, Audi and others are struggling and desperate to catch up, and they can't. They are relying on their reputation and brand names to fight Tesla, and they are failing. Again, NO sympathy. Go Elon!

    FSD will sell itself once people try it. I received the V12.3 update last weekend and I can attest that it is mind-blowing over prior versions. I was critical of V11 and almost never used it on city streets as it was too unreliable. The new version really feels human like and I can’t wait to see how it evolves in a relatively short time period. I paid $10K for FSD in 2022 it is starting to feel like a real bargain!

    When Elon and Tesla set out to produce EVs, they knew it would be difficult to break through the ICE oligopoly. Elon focused on 4 areas. (1) off course the EV itself incl batteries and car efficiency(2) digital revolution ( fully integrated and self originated software incl FSD), (3) Manufacturing - moving away from the Toyota Production System [TPS] to a a new vertically integrated digital manufacturing ( Tesla Digital Manufacturing -TDM) and (4) Other areas to create advantage such as superchargers and no dealerships. Legacy ICE are struggling to compete against the Tesla juggernaut.

    The challenge for Tesla in the USA is to get people that are afraid to even use cruise control to want to use 'self-driving' cars. Many American drivers are barely capable of driving safely at all, and this stems from their lack of confidence that they are in control of their vehicle. These are the people that should be getting driven by self-driving cars. In my fairly rural community I see people taking wide turns (as they are unsure where their wheels are), crossing center and shoulder lines (even on straight roads), cutting corners severely as they are afraid the car might skid if they turn the wheel more (despite only driving at around 10-15 mph), travelling at erratic speeds, both above and below the posted limits, and so on and so on.
    I'm sure my local citizenry are no different from yours, so it would make driving so much safer if everyone has and uses FSD.

    • @tedmoss
      @tedmoss 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok with your observations, but not your conclusions. Ability to drive or not is determined as all things by training and experience. If you copy the drivers around you, which you obviously did not, you will be a poor driver if they have bad habits. Training is what is missing from the equation, this is solved by Tesla's FSD, the perfect example compared to a human because it is trained from the best data. This is setting the example for retraining other drivers. Wait and see, we will get better.

    I disagree, FSD without RoboTaxi will become cheaper than it currently is, much cheaper. When used as a RoboTaxi it’s price will be built in to the revenue a car generates. The big question will be is the Gen 3 car (which could outsell everything in history) only going to be sold as a RoboTaxi or will it be sold to consumers as passenger vehicles. There are good cases for both. However, I do not believe that the people will willingly give up personal ownership of vehicles, to ride in RoboTaxi’s.

    Thrilled to see Musk’s FSD message! I am looking forward to getting the update here in Canada. While I think FSD V12 is amazing from the videos I’ve watched I can’t agree that the $200US (~$280 CDN) is cheap or even worth it for a private user. Maybe for a senior executive with a long commute but the majority of drivers currently, this is the first thing to be cut from the family budget. It’s just not worth it for the everyday driver at that price. It has to come down a lot for wide spread private use to take off IMO

      Actually the price reflects the service. Is Elon is driving away long time Tesla buyers with his X antics and creating a demand headwind that he keeps having to drop prices to counter. He needs to pull his head out where the sun is shining and work with the politicians on the side of EVs rather than those against him. Such dumbf**kery would get most CEOs fired. Lars, I use my FSD maybe 20 miles per month right now. If I went on a road trip I would use it the whole time, but I really don't drive much and for quick trips around my area I don't always bother with it as it is not like I need it for fatigue, etc. Right now the big annoyance with V12 is it always drives too slow. It accelerates nicely from a stop, but the slowness has to be resolved. I have cars behind me and I can't get it to go faster turning the speed up. So, for me, $6/day is not something I would pay for if I didn't opt for the whole thing at purchase. I thing they should redo the whole pricing structure. Start with either $19 or $49 subscription to have access. Then, you get charged per mile of use with tiers encouraging more use. Start with US.07 up to 500 miles during a calendar month. The next tier would be perhaps .05 for the additional miles up to 1500 or 2000. Then drop it to .03 over 2000 FSD miles. And then a final tier for the road warriors or road trippers of .02 over 3000 FSD miles driven. Now that is a lot of miles considering it's not always on FSD. Sorry I can do it in the metric system for you. Those are just examples of pricing to get the idea. But I firmly believe this should be available to everyone and the way it is priced now, only the rich would use it. Tesla would at least get the subscription amount from most people. Now that I've used it and can appreciate where it will be in a year, I would not pay $200/month for it for the little utility it provides me except for road trips. I would subscribe for a trip and cancel as soon as I got home.

Now that FSD is proving itself, they need to jump in as soon as possible so they can begin the long, difficult process of updating their vehicles for the FSD hardware. 3-4 years to get that done? Ford will be first again but just like Volvo’s seat belts, Tesla’s FSD will become a standard feature in all cars eventually. In the meantime, vehicles that have it will have massive sales appeal compared to those that don’t. Not to mention, Tesla will be able to capture a month's worth of FSD data from nearly all of its cars and take FSD to near perfection. I'm not sure I will be willing to fork out @200/mo for FSD, but we'll see. Then Tesla will probably do something really dirty after the one month trial and offer it for $150/mo... It will be nearly impossible to resist!

As for me, there is no way I would pay $12K on top of the $52K I've already paid for my 2023 Model Y LR. That is too bad, too, because this technology has the potential to greatly improve traffic safety for all - but only when the masses can afford it. When my hands are on the steering wheel, I 'pretend' to drive and do not allow my hands or arms to move beyond the amount which I would have moved had I been controlling the car. It doesn't take much of any counter force to have the steering disengage and a slight tap of the brake pedal brings everything into control quickly. Maybe you should simply not use FSD, since I don't believe you are using it correctly as the level 2 system that it is?

    Why not like in the past have a Tesla volunteer service of current V12 users come to Tesla service and delivery centers.
    Just like before help and explain features.
    There also many Tesla clubs on FB that could do like wise.
    What does this do? Well it saves money/ wages and time consuming hours for Tesla sales and service centers staff.
    Elon has already said in a email yesterday that yes this will take extra time but it is extremely important for new customers and service center staff to show old and new customers V12 versions.
    But more importantly many people like to hear from a non sales person....real users within the Tesla family are and have been very very useful in the past.
