18:40 "I'll never underestimate the motivational effects of Terran greed again", Fenix said while raiding a neutral nation, killing their defenders and infesting their command centers so their miners can be used as living bombs in a war they aren't part off. The swiss should be thankful Fenix wasn't an Allied general during WOII.
Fun fact: if you destory or infest all 5 command centers, you win this mission without actually floating 10k minerals. The AI cannot rebuild command centers. The mission has a trigger that give you +10k minerals instantly when enemy terran players have no command centers remaining.
If your units are getting killed by cloaked units with no Terran detection around, just burrow them until your overlords arrive! You never use burrow!!
If you ever watched pro-games usually noone researches Burrow lol, so no wonder he didn't think of it, pros don't use burrow at all in fact, since it's not even required for using Lurkers :)
Actually if you don't want to control your army frequently against wraith, ultralisks will be good. But for lowko style he may feel hype about protecting guardians against wraiths.
You can only keep the Infested Command Centers for the next mission if you start it right after this one. You lose them if you go back to the campaign menu. You should probably go to a saved game from this mission and then proceed to the next one after completing it.(The Infested Command Centers aren't essential to the next mission but it's cool to have them right in your base at the beginning and put the Infested Terrans at defensive points.)
Even if you go this route, and have what, 6 infested command centers at the start of the next mission, is it really WORTH it being able to make infested terrans? The problem is their 100/100 cost. The first time I played that, I tried using the infested, and ended up using up waaaay to much gas. Also the infested are far to easy to get killed I found.
The HUD console is a belated gift for people who attended BlizzCon or got the Virtual Ticket(or worked as a host, in Lowko's case). You can turn it on or off in the options. The Protoss HUD was touched up a bit but it's more recognizable.
I remember reading the mission objective "collect 10k minerals", I said to myself = well that's a piece of cake and spent almost nothing but turtling on minimal bases as possible (attacking only the red base cause it's right next to the expo) Reached about to 9500 and got nuked to death, was trying save/reload/save/reload about 10 times or so, got about to 9850 :D After about 15 or so "near attempts" I decided to replay it completely and actually assault bases and take the CCs instead, was challenging indeed but miles easier, the conclusion ? = never turtle with Zerg :D
You can use the queen skill "Spawn Broodlings" to get rid of those tanks, or droping a few zerglings and a single infested terran just in front of the bunkers are good choices too
Fun fact: Tolkien's work was a huge influence on StarCraft. Yes, the mines of Moria were also one of the richest places on Middle-Earth, just as planet Moria here is one of the richest places in the Koprulu Sector (StarCraft universe/portion of the galaxy). There is a Baelrog Brood. And the Overmind was depicted as a big eye, like Sauron.

I still don't comprehend how Raynor and Fenix think the UED would be a greater threat than Kerrigan and the zergs... Seriously, at worst it's some kind of confederate-like dictatorship vs UNSTOPABLE ZERG SWARM Plz Raynor.
UED was going to wage war against protoss if UED had beaten all terran factions. In adition, they look down on terrans from krupulu sector. Thus it is not irrational that Raynor and Fenix choose kerrigan.
Do you mean the "unstoppable zerg swarm" that got enslaved by the UED? If Raynor, Mensk and the protoss hadn't allied with Kerrigan the UED would've taken control of the entire sector.
Jesus, that one was almost as painful as dungeon crawling missions... I love Lowko's multiplayer and casts but give him a mission objective and he won't stop twisting it until it doesn't make sense to him anymore. You don't need to save money when you have like 40 k minerlas on just half of the map.
The best strategy for this mission is actually to go all out, build a big army and roll over the other bases, same as always. There will be plenty of minerals left and you can mine in peace.
no, Kel-Morian combine is one of the major terran faction other than confederacy, umojan, UED, and dominion(which is based on the ruined confederacy) in starcraft universe. In Guild War era (decades before the event of starcraft), the Confederacy and Kel-Moria are the most powerful, and both are claiming planet in the sector to enrich themself, and when the war between them erupt the Kel-Moria suffer loses due to Confederacy military and technology superiority, even the Kel-Moria ghost program ceased to exist. After the war, the kel-moria is reduced to more like private mining group that also work for confederacy. They are now mainly depends on Mercenary group to bolster their military strength. So it is quite different than the Dwarf of Moria
Arif Sentana The planet Moria is named after the Mines of Moria from LotR. The Mines of Moria are extremely rich in Mithril. Where as the planet Moria is extremely rich in minerals.
What kills me is SC2 players that are scout-a-holics when they play in SC2 and literally do not use their overlords to scout where they are going to attack or all the black on the map around where they are leading their units in remastered.
Lowko, please go back to the terran campaign and play ass ult on Korhall but after destroying the Tech labs. The start of the mission when you have to fend off nukes is so much more fun than when you are vs BCs!
LOWKO! Infested T's DO 500 DAMAGE OR MORE!!!! INFESTED COMMAND CENTER WOULD NOT BE THAT DIFFICULT TO GET FOR NO REASON! YOU ANGER ME! Love your channel.
From what I observed and learned from lowko's playthrough in SC1 is that he is the player that goes for the brute, slightly muscle-headed (type) kind of gameplay... Not effectively using spells, no overlord positioning (if that's even a word), and very rarely adapt to the situations at hand(i mean will you go for a composition that's effective last mission for the next mission without scouting what your enemy(ies) has/have?) Sorry for bad English so there might be some misunderstanding to what I'm trying to say to what will you comprehend from what I'm trying to say. Anyways I love lowko's videos it always makes me smile 😊
+LowkoTv question: which overlord do you like the most? StarCraft one or two? Personally I like the first starcraft overlord. It is more flexible and versatile as it is a detector by default and you don't need to morph it into drop lords or overseers. The starcraft 2 overlord is needlessly tedious and inflexible.
It was actually 2nd Optional mission objective, during the UED campaign you were given the choice to take out Dominions battle cruiser production, or their nuke silos, depending on which option you chose to complete, DRASTICALLY changes how the next mission plays out.
I don't buy that, sure you need one or the other to win, but the option is still there, you either chose to kill the nuke silos or you chose to kill the physics labs since you don't have to kill both it makes each one an optional victory since it directly affects the next level, infesting command centres was a bonus mission objective which gives you and advantage in the next level.
That UI might be the Blizzcon bonus UI mentioned in the patch. I believe you can disable it. Also if you had infested all 5 command center you'd of insta-won.
So this like when Raynor picked up Swan from co-op since Hyperion is flying over Moria? Thought they mention something about Kel Morian in WOL, but been too long can't remember. I also remember a SC2 co-op youtube video saying Horner joined early back in the first Terran campaign, he was like one of the dropship pilots that sprang Raynor from Confederate jail, in one of the SC novel tie-ins or something like that.
I think I went with guardian / hydra for the most part. Also, I ditched the main objective and focused on destroying / infesting cc's. Went brown, orange, red, blue, white. Treat it like a 1v5, and you should be fine.
The reason why infesting command centres is an optional mission objective is because you get them as a reward at the start of the next mission that you can use in your attack on Korhal. You can get up to five of them but you've got three, so that's fine, I guess.
Actually, you can get a lot more or them. If you infest CC and fly away, but leave the SCVs alive, they will rebuild CC and you can take it again. So you can have as many Infested CCs as you have space in your base. I usually started with 10, just for additional tanking and path-blocking.
Some hand wave explanation of: "Even the zerg require minerals to harden their carapaces and develop strong teeth." and: "The zerg have adapted themselves to use raw vespene as a source of nourishment to drive their greatly accelerated metabolisms due to the gas's high-caloric capacity,[2] raw vespene exposure resulting in enhancement of the ultralisk's physical capabilities,[10] and increasing the aggressiveness of the roach."
Infested Terrans in SC1, are fast moving suicide units with the damage output of a nuke and splash radius of a scarab. Armor upgrades are helpful. 5 CC exist on the map, if memory serves You can win with just the home base, but it is in some ways harder (although I think they might have reduced the mineral field amounts in this), since it means you likely haven't gone on the offensive, thus constant attacks. The tanks sight range isn't greater than the sunken so without spotters (which you killed), they are stuck.
Mass hydralisk is fine. Its actually the best way to clear the final mission except for the red base. All you needed was a ultralisk buffer in the front to soak the shots
Do you know that siege tanks can't hit units next to them in siege mode? You need to micro your hydras right up against the tank. It will force it to de-siege and in that time it will basically die and your units will have lived. Or just send lings with speed upgrades.
Looking back at it, I really don't know why I never built defilers during this mission. They are gas focused, maximize Crackling and Sunken potential and are better at defending stuff rather than attacking (great for this). Its just one of those things that younger me didn't see.
Blizzard modeled many things in Starcraft after their favorite Scifi & fantasy series such as Aliens(lending it likeness to the zerg), DnD(Torrasque being inspired by the Tarrasque) etc. Im sure the mineral mines of Moria was entirely intentional with LoTR in mind.
So, for every infested command center you make in this mission, you start with one in the next mission. Along with all those minerals you just mined. You can start the next mission with as many as 5 infested command centers and just drop infested all over the next mission. I never managed more than 4 I think.
Actually, you can get a lot more or them. If you infest CC and fly away, but leave the SCVs alive, they will rebuild CC and you can take it again. So you can have as many Infested CCs in the next mission as you have space in your base. I usually started with 10, just for additional tanking and path-blocking.
Open your physical copy of any volume of the Lord of the Rings to the map at the front. Find Khazad-dum. What's that, you can't? But you will probably find the Moria Gates. There's at least one American edition from 1965 that has a different map on which the place isn't marked at all, but I think most editions have a de-colored version of the original map (originally the text was in red ink) that has it as Moria. Now repent of your false hipsterism.
Hope you got a bunch of infested command centers every 1 u get comes with you to the next mission pro tip let them replace their command centers u can infest them aswell XD lowko try a leap frog technique with your sunkin and spore colonies u can do same with bunkers and turrets and pylons and cannons works ridiculously well love you bro hope you have a fabulous thanksgiving XD
What i really loved during the sc1 campaign, there are very few timed missions. I always loved to take my time and swoop all over the map. Of course the sc2 missions are waaaay more elaborate, but the timer on many missions i really disliked. Of course i know sc2 is about speed. But at the campaign, why don't go breezing through it? Still great though.
It just seemed like he saw the mission objective to mine minerals, took it at face value, and opted to go really low-effort all throughout. Made such a thing about completing bonus objectives early on (when they didn't exist) and then half-assed that too. Meh.
Actually the Terran bases aren't that hard, but he never builds over 100 supply. If spent all his resources up front on a 200 supply army, he could win easily with just about anything.
In retroperspective, I really feel bad for wanting to know so bad how the story would continue back when I played it for the first time, that I decided to simply skip the level by typing "show me the money"... But, well, in defense of myself ... I was still a kid...
This is important !

Lyonsbanner I didn't know that tip that you can earn 10k minerals, even thought I played this game loooooooooooooooooong ago x)
Lowko experiencing the life of the man in the Terran missile turret

If your units are getting killed by cloaked units with no Terran detection around, just burrow them until your overlords arrive! You never use burrow!!

Pro tip of the day: ALWAYS go for guardians!
Ádám Szentes or pretty much any higher tech unit than just hydra ling
chaoswurm hydralings are high-tier units! ... comparing with the drones & snow ursadons
Actually if you don't want to control your army frequently against wraith, ultralisks will be good. But for lowko style he may feel hype about protecting guardians against wraiths.
Going mass air is a pretty good strategy here because the map is really maze like.
Playing this game when I was a kid, I always went air, all the time. Except, ya know, early missions when I didn't have air yet.
Lowkos intuition to go directly to expansion sites every map is incredible
You can only keep the Infested Command Centers for the next mission if you start it right after this one. You lose them if you go back to the campaign menu. the better part though is = 10k minerals right at the start :D
every video he starts on the campaign menu, he never plays the next immediately.
and one of them did actually burn our with the help of terran wraiths and editor guy
Even if you go this route, and have what, 6 infested command centers at the start of the next mission, is it really WORTH it being able to make infested terrans?

Yes. They're great to clear clumped up ultralisks.
Let’s grab the popcorn and just enjoy!

Lowkow doesn't even noticed it.
Units die.
Lowkow doesn't care
You can use the queen skill "Spawn Broodlings" to get rid of those tanks, or droping a few zerglings and a single infested terran just in front of the bunkers are good choices too

He hadn't even researched it I think hahahahah
What kind of zergling/hydralisk are those queens you speak of?
But that would make him a dull boy.
Queens are amazing against enemy zerg and terran or a toss that uses tons of dragoons. Rapid fire spawn broodlings is really strong.
Dangen9 xD Maybe next mission if he read this ... it hurts so much to see all these armys go to waste Dx
What rhymes with orange? Kel Morian Combine, that’s what.
This level was screaming "Muta+Guardian".
I still don't comprehend how Raynor and Fenix think the UED would be a greater threat than Kerrigan and the zergs...

Watching this while drunk and high at 4:30 am on a weekday - best decision ever - Can "highly" recommend :>
this might have been my fav one yet just for the chair spin hahahaha
Ah, Raynor, Raynor. Where will be your "I don't trust her" in WoL and HotS? The things we lost forewer.
He drank away his mind.

There are game speed keyboard shortcuts. Pressing the '+' key will speed it up, the '-' key will slow it down.
I love your funny chair Lowko, better put bolts to stick it to the ground xD just for safety haha
Remember that Queen's spawn broodling are a good counter to tanks.
“How do you younglings say it? “Throw down with the best of them.”
What kills me is SC2 players that are scout-a-holics when they play in SC2 and literally do not use their overlords to scout where they are going to attack or all the black on the map around where they are leading their units in remastered.

The start of the mission when you have to fend off nukes is so much more fun than when you are vs BCs!
That was just an midd aged Brood War fan talking, I played this campaign first time when I was 9!!! :D
LOWKO! Infested T's DO 500 DAMAGE OR MORE!!!! INFESTED COMMAND CENTER WOULD NOT BE THAT DIFFICULT TO GET FOR NO REASON! YOU ANGER ME! Love your channel.
Lowko! This interface is given to everyone who has blizzcon ticket! You can disable it in settings
Remember to spawn broodling those tanks! :D
20:36 Good reference Lowko!
I wish this command bar model would be in the game because for a retro fan like me, i love it
From what I observed and learned from lowko's playthrough in SC1 is that he is the player that goes for the brute, slightly muscle-headed (type) kind of gameplay...
Wow that troll SCV cancelling the infestation, I didn't even know they could do that! LOL
Also the Ghost that decided it was a good economic decision to target a Zergling with a nuke!
Lowko the queens can oneshot the tanks! anyway that ending was so good xD
"Hmmmm i m not sure what it means"
You bad lier lowko
Lowko: "What rhymes with orange?"
Eminem: "I put my orange 4-Inch door hinge in storage and ate porridge with George"
It is the blizzcon surface, if you change minimap position you will see blizzcon icon on right bottom cornor.
It was actually 2nd Optional mission objective, during the UED campaign you were given the choice to take out Dominions battle cruiser production, or their nuke silos, depending on which option you chose to complete, DRASTICALLY changes how the next mission plays out.
It's not optional. You need to complete one of it in order to win.
Optinal mission is a mission which is not required to be completed to obtain victory. That's why they're called "optional".
That UI might be the Blizzcon bonus UI mentioned in the patch. I believe you can disable it. Also if you had infested all 5 command center you'd of insta-won.
So Lowko chooses the hardest strategy to succeed in every map. Although he still does win
I wonder if he can win the last mission with mass zerglings.
Lowko, you can use Ensnare on cloaked units. After doing so they become visible for the time the ability goes.
So this like when Raynor picked up Swan from co-op since Hyperion is flying over Moria? Thought they mention something about Kel Morian in WOL, but been too long can't remember. I think I went with guardian / hydra for the most part. Also, I ditched the main objective and focused on destroying / infesting cc's. Went brown, orange, red, blue, white. Treat it like a 1v5, and you should be fine.
Did he lose his Comand Center to that single ghost? I think we'll figure it out in 2 days :)
He did, you could see in the minimap that the ghost was persistent and Lowko forgot to look back into it.
no. CC was killed by someone other. But indeed, single ghost did about 1499 damage to that CC before it flew away
he actually threw a nuke on it XDXD
When you press + or - on the numpad it increase or decreases the game speed respectively.
The reason why infesting command centres is an optional mission objective is because you get them as a reward at the start of the next mission that you can use in your attack on Korhal. You can get up to five of them but you've got three, so that's fine, I guess.

I'm curious what the Zerg need minerals and gas for. Who are they paying them to?
Some hand wave explanation of: "Even the zerg require minerals to harden their carapaces and develop strong teeth." and: "The zerg have adapted themselves to use raw vespene as a source of nourishment to drive their greatly accelerated metabolisms due to the gas's high-caloric capacity,[2] raw vespene exposure resulting in enhancement of the ultralisk's physical capabilities,[10] and increasing the aggressiveness of the roach."
Ireally wish that Blizzard could add in SC2 units to this campaign just for fun.
Having Broodlords here would be so awesome!
Infest all 5 command centers and you don't even need to go for the mineral quota.
Everything will be explain in the next one Lowko, you will enjoy it xD
Infested Terrans in SC1, are fast moving suicide units with the damage output of a nuke and splash radius of a scarab. Armor upgrades are helpful.
5 CC exist on the map, if memory serves

Lowko, you should try lottery defense in sc2 arcade. Addicting!!
i get you're having fun in achieving the extra's, but BOY you took a long time to finish this mission!
Lowko chair spin OP.....
Do you know that siege tanks can't hit units next to them in siege mode? You need to micro your hydras right up against the tank. It will force it to de-siege and in that time it will basically die and your units will have lived. Or just send lings with speed upgrades.
You don't have to take control of any CC. But the ones you infest, will be available for you in next mission.
Looking back at it, I really don't know why I never built defilers during this mission. They are gas focused, maximize Crackling and Sunken potential and are better at defending stuff rather than attacking (great for this). Its just one of those things that younger me didn't see.
Turtling doesn't work, you'd get nuked to death on this mission, I remember trying it myself at first lol
*NOT ENOUGH MINERALS*
Blizzard modeled many things in Starcraft after their favorite Scifi & fantasy series such as Aliens(lending it likeness to the zerg), DnD(Torrasque being inspired by the Tarrasque) etc. Im sure the mineral mines of Moria was entirely intentional with LoTR in mind.
I'm doing a 2-1-1 5 min stim build wondering what your thoughts are of having 2 tanks and 8 rines stim 2 medivacs instead of 16 rines stim 2 medivacs
The mission will only get better from now on Lowko. :)
Infested terrains are great against static defense!
So, for every infested command center you make in this mission, you start with one in the next mission. Along with all those minerals you just mined. You can start the next mission with as many as 5 infested command centers and just drop infested all over the next mission. I never managed more than 4 I think.

And they call it a mine. A mine!
what's that interface? I don't have it, and I preordered the game, even in that exact mission, I don't have it.
2:14 oh i think we can be very sure of what she means >:D
Spin to win!
I enjoy so much that u just spun in your chair until it was over!!! hahahahaha
This mission in retrospect is quite sad foreshadowing as throughout it Fenix gives dialogue before the events 2 missions after.
we need 10k minerals, but it will be hard
fenix: jokes on you im into that shit
Mines of Moria is for movie plebs. Khazad-dûm is where it's at for REAL Tolkien fans! /neckbeard
Nathan Brown nicely done brother. Nicely done.
Chair spinning ftw!
should've put dr. evil as the thumbnail. we hold moria ransom for 10000 minerals!
>> 4:09 - this is prolly bcuz of ur blizzcon ticket; i didnt get any, but seems logical
No thanksgiving in Europe man.
"lings are not cost efficient" lowko 2017
33:41 whoa whoa that's a bit too hardcore for my liking
Cheaters actually never get infested command centers
They dont need them in the next mission lol
Mutalisks, Lowko. Mutalisks.
. . . If you can build them. I'm actually not sure.
1:44 Moria. Wait, could that mean the new hero from overwatch was based on Starcraft?
Edit: nvm it’s Moira not Moria my bad
How did you get that sweet UI?
That UI is no glitch, it's animated and it's not a Protoss UI
I thought you would pump out some Ultras
What i really loved during the sc1 campaign, there are very few timed missions. I always loved to take my time and swoop all over the map. Of course the sc2 missions are waaaay more elaborate, but the timer on many missions i really disliked. Of course i know sc2 is about speed. But at the campaign, why don't go breezing through it? Still great though.
The mines of the Moria ? Is that it? XD
Against the endless heavily turtled Terrans, why doesn't Lowko just make Guardians?
It just seemed like he saw the mission objective to mine minerals, took it at face value, and opted to go really low-effort all throughout. Made such a thing about completing bonus objectives early on (when they didn't exist) and then half-assed that too. Meh.
cold fusion because Guardians are not hydralings, obviously
Actually the Terran bases aren't that hard, but he never builds over 100 supply. If spent all his resources up front on a 200 supply army, he could win easily with just about anything.
Moria is a mining world so the connection to LOTR is apt.
In retroperspective, I really feel bad for wanting to know so bad how the story would continue back when I played it for the first time, that I decided to simply skip the level by typing "show me the money"...
But, well, in defense of myself ... I was still a kid...
RIP Khaleesi, mother of Zerglings
