    I have two Yamaha MDF 2 and 3 drives. This question.
    To MDF-2 ... 720KB, can I connect Gotek station to 1.44 MB ( Sfr1M44-U100K ) + 24pin/34pin adapter? Do I have to buy a GOTEK 720 station, e.g.
    SFRM72-FU? + 24pin/34pin adapter? Greetings.

      Actually you will need to use a 720KB Gotek Drive because your Keyboard has a bus capacity limitation and it can only host a 720KB DD Drive. Also make sure to get a good quality adapter because I had bad luck with many Chinese adapters that wouldn't work.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101

      You are very welcome, so it will be just like as if you had a floppy disk. You can load all the or some of the files from the floppy disk on to the Roland MC80 internal memory to be visible on the screen. You can only do one floppy disk at a time. For a 720KB floppy you can only load up to 720K at a time, then you have to push the button the front of the Emulator to switch to Floppy Disk 2 and so on

    Thanks for this great video. I have one question though. I want to use this on a Brother ULT series embroidery machine. The machine came with a drive that looks to be a PCMCIA card reader to upload images to the machine. If I wanted to install the emulator that you demonstrated, do I have to upload the images via emulated floppy disks or will the machine recognize a USB drive that isn't partitioned with emulated floppies and just added to a FAT formatted USB stick?
    I hope this makes sense as to what I am asking

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but the Flash drive must be FAT32 format and not FAT, FAT16, NTFS, Mac or eXFat. Also each file must be on Root directly not inside any folders, and files must not exceed 1.4MB in size. On some machines even the file name must not exceed 8 characters "Old DOS File Name Length Limitation"

    Sir, I am impressed by the clarity of the concepts reviewed by you in this video. Normally the videos about this subject talk about the adaptation of this unit to the Amiga owners.
    I have dreamed to upgrade my CASIO wk1800 keyboard to this USB drive. But since a lot of those videos on the net make me doubt about my capabilities. I say so since most of them assume that flashing the microcontroller in the gottek drive will be piece of cake or worst they send you to a site where the driver to flash it will cost more than the keyboard itself. Some keyboards owners even complain that their machines has to be resetted or turned off every time you select another virtual drive. I just wonder if I follow the procedure that you explain in the video will this work for my CASIO or I will be looking for another brand with similar characteristics than the gottek offered by Amazon or Aliexpress. And of course where in the net there is a table that could help with those jumpers that are so famous because of the problems they produce during many faulty convertions.

      You can make a Bootable USB flash drive with DOS 6.22 in the Boot Sector, however your device must have the option to boot from the USB Flash Drive in it's BIOS Boot Priority settings.

    Hello, sir. Thanks so much for your video. If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you for a bit of help...I have a Mitsubishi CO2 CNC LXP laser with an LC10BV controller. I'm trying to replace its Citizen LR102061 MN 3.5 floppy drive with a recently purchased Gotek SFR1M44-U100 USB SSD Floppy Drive Emulator. Can you offer any suggestions for how I should configure the jumpers on the Gotek? It appears the old Citizen floppy drive has a jumper on what is labeled as "DS DS0", but "DS DS1" does not have a jumper on it. Thanks for any help you might provide.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on what I see on eBay the Citizen LR102061 is a slime 26pin drive. If that is the case then the SFR1M44-U100 will not be compatible with it.
      Is this the correct drive that you have www.ebay.com/itm/223589336267

    • @mrau92me
      @mrau92me 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 No, sir. Although the LR102061 number is the same, the drive I have is a 34pin drive (2 rows of 17). My laser controller's cable is 34pin as well and connects just fine. My drive's physical dimensions are also larger than what's indicated at that ebay link. The label on my drive is very similar, but it has "OSD" where the one at your link reads as "XID*-***". Also, both are 5V, but mine is rated at 930mA instead of 700mA. I'd like to add that there's a bar code label on my Citizen drive that reads "B25L 000794A-7Y". Thanks so much for your reply.

      @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Ok, thanks. In case you need it, here is some information about my old Citizen drive's pcb jumper markings. There are 5 rows of 2 pins. Each row's marking reads as follows: 1. |DS|DS1| 2. |DS|DS0| 3. |MD2|H| 4. |MD1|H| 5. |MD1|L|. Row 2 |DS|DS0| is the only one with a removable jumper installed. However, Row 5 |MD1|L| appears to be jumpered with solder on the backside of the pcb. Also, rows 3 and 4 do not have a pair of pins available to receive a jumper, only a pair of holes in the pcb. I believe my Gotek should have a jumper at S0, but I'm not sure what jumper on my Gotek would correspond with the |MD1|L| from my Citizen pcb.

      Sorry, but this vid has A LOT of misinformation. Just go online to HxC and/or FlashFloppy firmware websites for the REAL info, and after you educate yourself a bit, ask questions on the forums there. DO NOT WASTE ANY MONEY ON EXPENSIVE GOTEK DRIVES! They are currently as low as $16 USD on Aliexpress (and a bit more on Ebay) shipped directly from China (takes about 2.5-4 weeks to USA) or about as low as $25 quickly shipped from third-party Amazon Prime sellers. Flash the firmware yourself from either website above, you'll need correct cable (choose 1 from 2 different styles, about $2 each, the USB-USB types don't require buying & soldering pin headers into Gotek). You can "mod"/enhance Gotek with replacement text/ alphanumeric display (OLED is best & most popular, as low as $2.50 shipped), a rotary/push button dial (KY-040 most popular, plus knob, about $1 for pair shipped), plus piezo buzzer for simulating floppy drive sounds (less than $2 for 10-pack). Good to buy some Dupont-style female-female wires for mods, too ($1-2 for 40). Good luck!

    Man, no wonder some charge $300 vs $13, if you want it to work, pay for what is needed. My need is for a 1999 Barudan BENT embroidery machine, bios & format means everything, so I'll start with the $13 one then likely cough up that $300, so I'm sure it will work.

      That would depend on the file system in your Operating System disk. This is a DOS System Emulator and most Mills and CNC machines are also DOS System so technically it should just work fine. @@raphaelibuzo3549 Try reading it on the emulator with the selector switch set to 000 and if you can read it normal, it means that you haven't formatted the flash drive correctly. Also files must be on the root directly in each bank, you can't put them inside folders.

      Greetings,
      Your device was originally manufactured with 4 different types of Floppy drives, and they are not interchangeable. Some of them came with a 26 Pin 1.44MB Drive, some with 26 Pin 720KB Drive, some with 34Pin 720KB, and some with 34Pin 1.44MB Drive. This will only fit those ones that originally came with a 34Pin 1.44MB Drives. We also carry other types, but I need to know the exact floppy drive that your machine came with. Thank you

    JUMPER SETTING FOR CNC EXECELLON CENTURY 2001 MODEL.

    • @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101
      @TECHNOLOGYTIPS101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greetings sir, the jumper settings depends on the current configuration of the system utility software in the CNC machine. Just like the Bios Settings on a PC. So there is no fixed setting that would work for all CNC EXECELLON CENTURY 2001 MODELS. The best way to tell what the current settings are is to look at the jumpers of you existing Floppy Drive.
