...and that my friends is how you get your name on Gibson guitar for all eternity. Sullen blues... Smooth jazz... & the power of rock... all 'rolled' into one set of fingers! Absolutely excellent... especially for a young Greek kid from Boston!
Holy SH*T This has got to be some of the most amazing and perfect camera work on close ups I've seen in a live performance. What does it reveal? How unbelievably talented Johnny is. You can see close up the passion and skill this guy has! I've seen him live, met and talked to JA and he's a joy to behold. Catch him when you can. He's the best.
Bruce, He's self taught and that guitar is a Signature Les Paul made just for him !!! He can make that guitar talk, Seen him Live up front, Simply Amazing and a Boston Boy, Believe he's Greek and reeks w a creative side you gotta listen to how clean and articulate the finger work is !!!! Johnny A is at the top !!!
The first and only time I saw Johnny A live was in Toronto at a small club on Spadina Ave. Steve Vai and Dweezil Zappa were sitting behind me in awe. Johnny was seriously impressive. He didn't play loud and did everything whilst sitting on a stool. I got a chance to chat with him after the show and he was both humble and engaging.
Johnny A is a Boston born Native self taught guitarist amazing talent seen him 2 times and his sharpness and creativeness is as good as Ive heard ! ! Go see him , you'de be amazed !
I have collected a dozen versions of Red House by different bands and my two favorites are by Johnny A with Buddy Guy coming in second! Johnny A's guitar work is phenomenal!
All about the controlled tone and reverb and tasteful timing oh yeah! My wife wants the bagpipes at her funeral for her swan song and as she is Welsh, I so will dutifully be oblige and carry out. Red House and Riviera Paradise and Clapton’s version of Hard Times is my dedication to the Trinity of this life. Ahhoooo!!!! Semper Fidelity
They made 30 of those guitars for Johnny .I actually recently met a guy who was going to buy one of the 30. Became really good friends with Johnny and a day before flying out to meet with him and purchase the guitar he had a heart attack and never got the chance . 25 k for one of those babies.
That was wonderful! I just got turned on to this guy and WOW. Personally I would love to see an equally talented vocalist join his band. Amazing stuff!
Respectfully, I think that the fact that it isn't focused on vocals is what makes it great. I'm a huge fan of guitar instrumental music. Vocals just diminish the focus on the guitar work.
kyle h don't exaggerate. Best versions(multiple) are by Jimi himself. Royal Albert Hall, San Diego and Randall's island are the besst versions. I love this one too though.
The biggest unsung hero of southern rock to me is Steve Gaines. He was one of the most technical southern players as well. Right up there with Dickey and Duane for his out of the box stuff.

WoW amazing guitarist! 🎸 I could listen to this 24/24 ! Just perfectly executed! ROCK ON

Master of hybrid (pick plus fingers) picking.
Johnny A. gets tone better than 99 percent of all the guitar players on TH-cam. Also phrasing and innovation.
Just amazing ..... ☺

your right ..amazing..someone actually got it right...HELLO
I have seen him twice once in Foxborough Massachusetts where I live, he somewhere on the North shore.
Johnny's level of talent comes from a place beyond.
super
always amazes me how a particular artist can bring his/her own sound to a classic -- a sign of a true artist
Man that guitar sounds great and Johnny A. is tearin it up on those string, what feeling yeah
His style, tone, everything about him just defines perfection. The vast majority of "guitar gods" could learn a lot by paying close attention.

This is incredibly well-recorded. You can hear every nuance in each of the three instruments.
Never heard of him but his phrasing and tone is awesome - really outstanding.

Nice to see a bassist (Taylor) getting the bass-as-rhythm-guitar part right.
Absolutely the best version EVER

Johnny A......just WOW
What beautiful sound!
Johnny A is a Boston born Native self taught guitarist amazing talent seen him 2 times and his sharpness and creativeness is as good as Ive heard ! ! Go see him , you'de be amazed !
Sweet, soaring, and sublime.
Nice and smooth!
Like that he `plays' the lyrics--instead of soloing--thus saving the actual solo for after the 'lyrics'. Really nice touch !!
Great drummer too!
Nothing but the best for Johnny A
Good God DAMN!!! Never heard this tune before, but Johnny rocked the FFFF out of it!Drummer was smokin', too!!!
RED HOUSE BY Jimi Hendrix....1966

Jimi would be proud.

Istenem,de jól keni a száját neki! Na,e' mán döfi! És micsoda szuper zenészekkel játszik!!!
So ironic that such a Strat song is now Gibsonized - -
Best version of red house ever. Fuckin a right johhny,
kyle h don't exaggerate. Best versions(multiple) are by Jimi himself. Royal Albert Hall, San Diego and Randall's island are the besst versions. I love this one too though.
This guy is in the "none better" category. Fattest tone I've heard in a while.
You can see the entire show on the WDR site. www.wdr.de/tv/rockpalast/extra/videos/2011/1111/johnny_a.jsp

Wow I grew up on Southern Rock and thought that Rick Medlock was barr non the fastest most accurate guitarist ever until I got turned on to Johnny!
The biggest unsung hero of southern rock to me is Steve Gaines. He was one of the most technical southern players as well. Right up there with Dickey and Duane for his out of the box stuff.
2:04 He's human !
yeah.... happens in live music, but the man can flat out play
Happens to everyone.
Red house with red shoes!
Good Lord can he play
This sounds more like Zep's version of "You Shook Me" than it does red house
