Mazda is the most brilliant and yet most underrated car company on the planet. It makes no sense that the CX-5 does not sell better than the RAV4. Consumers just do not know what they are missing by not test driving Mazda cars when considering a reliable Japanese make. My niece has a CX-5 and she might be the smartest person I know. I lust after a CX-50 and would recommend the Turbo version to EVERYONE! I hope Mazda will enjoy the sales success they deserve without ever giving up on their love a great cars.
We did consider the Mazda CX-5 but a few things changed our mind when we compared this to rAv4 and CRV. The back seat in cx5 so cramped, cargo is too small and MPG is not impressive.
@@jj5515 If you haven't bought yet, I'd wait for the new CR-V. Not only is it good looking, they've improved it significantly. If you can afford it, the Rav4 Prime is the way to go. It's the FASTEST Toyota you can buy and it looks great in white with the blacked out roof. The red is spectacular!
CX-5 is cramped on the interior compared to RAV4 - if you want to dominate global sales, then you want to offer the masses what the masses need - spaciousness. Not to mention 99% of the CX-5's are black interior with no panoramic sunroof. The whole thing adds up to feeling cramped like a dungeon compared to the Rav4 for families.
The CX-5 is better looking, nicer interior, more dynamics... But the RAV4 is larger, more practical and a really nice car. I like the exclusivity of driving a Mazda
One of the most exciting cars from Mazda for a little while. Featuring new Skyactive X engines, New ethos, new drivetrains and layout. Plus it looks great IMO.
Lovely looking car. I have the Mazda CX 5 with all the bells and whistles all as standard. No paying extras for satnav, folding mirrors, lane departure, blind spot monitoring, reversing camera, electric seats, reads SMS and emails via the infotainment etc etc and it’s a 2016 model. Mazda much better value and I love it.
Had the 2017 Mazda 6 and then a 2018 BMW 4 series and the thing I missed the most from the Mazda was the infotainment rotation wheel. Bloody brilliant in the Madza an no fingerprints.
100% agreed on the scroll wheel. I have over 900 mp3 songs which I could not safely scroll through them on our bumpy roads. I would not be able to watch the road and find what I want. Besides, it's too far from my short arms. So people that complains about the lack of touch screen is a bunch of followers because someone was unhappy with it.
I have had a CX5 for 18 months and it is a great car. I have ordered the CX60, and have been informed that I can expect delivery around 23rd of this month. Sorry, but I don't really care about rear passenger space as I never sit in the back, and haven't ever been a passenger in the front either.
Totally agree on bombing out the bloody dangerous use of touch screens. In amazed safety ratings don't downgrade ratings for feature rich touch screens, theyre so distracting
Believe it or not but what are you going to do when it can't pick up your voice or it can't understand what you're saying after a year or so of having that system it is common with android platforms
All mazda have long hood (higher hood length : total length ratio) makes the styling looks more fantastic and sleek but sacrificing usable cabin length - especially 2nd row leg room
The reason for the long engine bay / hood is that the will release in line 6 cylinder longitudinal petrol and diesel engines soon (3.0L petrol and 3.3L diesel) - rear wheel drive by default but I'd be surprised if a AWD version is not offered. 6 cylinder engines placed fore to aft in the engine bay need a bit of length.
I can't be the only person that thought he said "I've got to be honest, this is not my preffered driving position, so I'm just going to SHIT myself" between 3:13 and 3:20 😂
when you say ship, are you saying the cx60 is huge? i was hoping the cx60 would be similar in size to a rav4. im in the market for a compact suv and i hope the cx60 isnt too big
I really like Mazdas and am currently driving my second 6, and while i find this interesting, i overall don't like "SUVs" or hybrids. I only like manual petrol saloons and sports cars and most want a still manual petrol fourth gen 6! :D .
At last. I've been waiting on this. It looks great. Excellent Mazda quality. But is it me or does it kinda looks like a BMW from the back with the lines and a slight angular square of presence?
Nah it's a new smart multi clutch 8 speed that is (for the most part) pretty much imperceptible when it changes gear. You can catch it out a bit with the demand to add ICE power to the EV power train suddenly and that can be a bit abrupt if you are abrupt but I'm sure you can figure that out in your driving style (I only had a 1 hour 30 min test drive prior to ordering one). The EV / ICE / transmission setup is interesting... both the EV motor and Petrol engine feed power into the same gearbox (non of this EV on one axle and ICE engine onto the other) - the gearbox then owns power distribution across the AWD system. Neat solution and makes a lot of sense as even if the battery is depleted you still have full AWD capability....Or if the battery is well stocked you can still potter about in EV mode in snow (for example - or mud) with AWD.
You agree with not being able to touch the screen but then in the next sentence you say its super easy to touch the Aircon controls below the screen????
Have you driven any skyactive Mazdas? I drove a 2015 Mazda 6 2.5l like a madman for 4 years and it consistently returned 12.x km/l. That's better than some of those tiny 3cyl turbos you find on many cars these days!
Did not know that there was a Mazda CX-60. The only Mazda suvs that i know are MAZDA3, MAZDA6 MAZDA CX5 CX30 CX50, not a Mazda CX60. I didn't know mazda made a cx-60 🤨.
Which colour is the most popular? White or Red? Can I see a thumbs up for Red and thumbs down for White? I see choose thumbs down for White because I am leaning towards the Red one.
And depending on the reviews you read - putting aside the correct comments about phone mirroring being touch based - the screen is active as a touchscreen for the Mazda built in stuff whilst stationary...Did not try it on my test drive but that is what some reviewers say. Worth remembering that often (can't say for this review) press test vehicles are pre-production so what you see here might be production or pre-production... I am pretty sure the suspension got worked on after some pre-production press vehicles generated a bit of criticism...
As a journalist you should have mentioned the mother of suv phev's the outlander when introducing the other banch , for that reason you'll get a dislike
I’m afraid you’re mistaken. Completely different drivetrain design. No eCVT and in the Mazda, whether driving in e mode or not, you’re always passing through the 8 speed auto gearbox. This has pros and cons (I’ve tested both cars). RAV4 is very smooth, not really engaging but better fuel economie. Mazda the opposite. Wouldn’t have mind to get the Toyota hybrid system in the Mazda though. I’ve chosen the Mazda over the Toyota for its interior and exterior styling then for its driving experience
We bought a MAZDA CX-60, and it has been a terrible experience. We’ve had problems every day. In just six months, we’ve had to bring it in for recalls and software resets five times. The value has already dropped by $10,000. Please don’t buy the CX-60. My wife spoke to the General Sales Manager, Robert, Mt Gravatt but there was no resolution. He was polite, but nothing was accomplished.
I have bought this car. It has a pathetic 30 litre fuel tank (I mistakenly thought that this was because the stated MPG was 188) hahahaha it can’t do that if it is going down a 100 mile slope with the wind behind it. The MPG is a joke. I am averaging 45.
Touch screen are not bad at all, also they dont have to be mutually exclusive to physical controls...... excuse to cheap out at this price range. Physical controls only means apple carplay and android auto will be a shit show.
I am afraid Mazda will be the next old Nissan flooding the market with unprofitable model with little different between them . I love Mazda and own 1 myself , however this is bad decision by Mazda.
