Nice job spencer you have been pushing me to train so much more and I am so happy for you.The sub 4 story was so fun to watch. I’m 11 3 months ago my pr was 7:25, not great and now I have training almost every day wanting to break six. Right now I am at 6:02.Thanks to you I have been wanting to run so much more
@waqy gamin' wooosh because obviously the plot twist is a fiction, but this guy took it at face value missing the fact it was a joke so therefore woosh
This sub 4 story is an outstanding series and has given me great motivation to be a better runner and start a youtube channel. I believe by your story that anything is possible, with my running, my TH-cam channel, and getting through tough times. I know I’m not the only one you have effected keep it up and I wish this serious never ended!
Bro, I loved every minute of this. Please, when you see your pops, give him an upper grip handshake, close embrace, 3 pumps on the back, slaps on both sides of the hand, with a spin move and snaps to finish it out. He seems like an amazing dad and I'm happy to hear you express appreciation for his guidance.
this series has given me so much motivation. my pr for the 1600 is 5:12 and on tuesday i have a time trial and i’m going for a sub 5. thank you for everything spencer!
I recall in an earlier vid your Dad saying he thought you might have done it sooner given your predictors? This series showed the many bumps on your road to success and your perseverance. Kudos
If u are one of the few that disliked this video. You need to get out of your parents basement and go running to even to begin to realize how much of a grind it was to be a sub 4 miler.
I followed all videos ... summary, you do not know when you will do well performance works in odd ways ... perseverance hard work, and relaxation are key to performance. Failure is a must for success! great video thanks for sharing!
I saw an ad for the sub4 story and I was like I am going to check this out. So I started watching all of the series. I liked the story about how Alex Ostberg was. Your friendliness throughout the videos allowed me to get to know you and I feel like you have become my friend. Thank you for that. After writing that last 2 sentences, I have tears in my eyes. I saw this video and I liked the beginning where everybody was smiling and happy. I liked the whole thing really. I liked your race. You made up some ground on the leaders in the last lap. That was a really fantastic kick! Congratulations on that! I stopped the video 3:59.7. I tried to get it right on. I tried over and over and that was the best I could do for now. Congratulations! I make a picture of it so I can show it to you later. Thanks!
And for our non-Spanish speaking friends, Sergio said: "Tremendous story, it motivates you to keep trying to improve day by day! Greetings from Argentina!" See, that college minor in Spanish actually paid off - just took 40 years.
Bro this is amazing!!! I'm truly inspired by how you never gave up after all those set backs and difficulties. Everybody would of understood if you retired and threw in the towel but you decided to pick yourself up and to keep trying no matter how impossible it seemed. I kind of gave up competitive running after high school but now I am finally training hard again. My mile in high school was 5:03 and now I'm training to run the mile under 5 minutes.
Great storytelling and editing. The most impressive part of the whole thing is how resilient you’ve been when it would’ve been very easy to just move on at certain points, and no one would’ve blamed you for doing so.
This was really great loved it such an inspiring story loved the whole series and this finale helped me through my 20x1 minute hill repeats yesterday - Just wanted to let you know you have at least two older fans that graduated from Michigan... LOL Keep grinding, and look forward to seeing you out there racing again soon!
Fantastic series. Lived the high and low moments the past years watching your videos and racing you a few times in those epic BU races. I hope you're proud of your college career and this whole channel because it is superb.
Absolutely awesome Spencer! Keep the commitment going. Keep raising the bar. The climb to the top is slow and hard, but it is worth it. I look forward to watching your progress.
Like I’ve said before the inspiration behind my channel and his videos have yet to disappoint! His story shows that it takes trial and error to become good in this sport
Awesome series man! I just finished my first year running in college, and while I'm nowhere near ever breaking 4, you really do inspire me to keep grinding and do my absolute best. Good luck with whatever lie ahead!
Showed my 16 yr old daughter your complete Sub 4 Story last night. She's never had an interest in running, but last night after part 3 she looks at me and was like "dad, make me a running schedule...I mean it. I really want to start running!" "I want to start tomorrow."
This vid was what I needed! My training is not going how I want it to go, so now I'm going to try to have fun even if my coaches and some teammates do not like it. There has been a lot of change that I do not agree with. Thanks Spencer We need more vids like this. #RoadTo100kSuds
If I have learned one thing through this series and in my own career, its that NO major success will be attained without first encompassing the 7 circles of hell and continuing to press on. This year WILL BE my break out year

This video is... well.... It’s enough to make a grown man cry....
One of the best videos I've ever seen. I often see the Athlete Special on long Sunday runs at the Trumbull trail. He's like a celebrity!
