I agree, tactical isn’t it, as when you set up the perfect ambush, waiting until the ultimate moment to hit an enemy tank flank right into its weak side armor, hit it with a round that is 2 to 3 times the penetration power of the plate armor and it just goes, “bounce”. It’s arcade at best, just as rigged as any circus carnival game I’ve ever encountered.

I’ve had tanks sitting in the base circle well within my view range and be completely invisible with no objects to hide behind. Crazy. Also have experienced tanks going invisible after shooting my first round, re-aim and shoot exactly where they were sitting only to ghost round, then have the tank reappear in exactly the same spot, shoot me then disappear once again. It’s plain and simple as the game is either broken or rigged, believe what you will, it’s not right.

In all seriousness though you should look up the spotting mechanics. Learn to use terrain to close the distance. Try blind firing tracers sometimes. Learn where tanks like to hide. There’s plenty of ways to skillfully deal with stealthy camping tanks that can out spot you. The spotting system is perfectly fine and within your ability to control.

I first downloaded this game in 2016, and didn’t like it, so I uninstalled it, and didn’t come back to it until just before Christmas last year. By then, CW mode was in full swing, and I enjoy it thoroughly. I have recently, thanks to Riki’s Arty Party stream, become an arty convert, but that’s about all I enjoy about WWII mode. Yes, the tanks in CW are way more expensive, but they are generally faster, have larger health pools, better guns, and earn way more silver than those in WWII. And as you pointed out, the vision systems in the two game modes are completely, frustratingly different. True Vision seems to be more realistic and more fair. If they were to adopt it into WWII, I’m sure those of us who play only occasionally would indeed play more. I hate to say it, but unless WWII mode adopts the same vision system, I agree with you, CW is the future of this game on console. Looking very much forward to the German and Israeli lines coming this summer.

Absolutely agree. Tru vision allows the players to actually use a tank more like it is in the real world. Long distance death. TD players rejoice you can snipe and support properly! WW2 vision is far more of video game feature then Tru vision, and mechanically is far more inspiring of yoloing. You can't detect the enemy unless it's in your bubble. Despite the player clearly seeing the bush the enemy is hiding behind from afar. I love watching a tank blink in and of existence because it's hiding behind a rock half a meter outside my view range. But WW2 is recommendable to people who prefer a competitive, but slower paced, game. I also prefer the era tech tree to the tier tech tree because a Maus facing an Strv 103B doesn't make sense to me.

@@wot1fan885 a td hiding behind a bush at 500m-700m, especially in Era 1, can go undetected ( CW tds still have the broken camo that was once shared by CW light tanks) and deliver quite a lot of damage. Obj. 268 and FV4005 can sit back and impede enemy tank movements well before anyone has been spotted. It's nice being able to actually set up an ambush outside of the enemies effective firing range. WW2 mode is playing chess with the handicap of seeing your opponents pieces when they're one square away from yours.

    Great perspective video Riki
Been playing since day 1 launch, so 8 years ago on Xbox 360
I'm totally hooked on Cold War, pretty much left WW2, apart from trying to grind the wheeled lights.
Agree the vision system and lack of artillery makes, for me, the CW game mode more enjoyable. Over time now variety has been introduced, primarily lights and anti tank missiles. ERA 3 has a problem with variety given heavy tanks are fast and powerful, rendering the limited lights and TDs useless, but it is still an enjoyable game mode albeit it gets tired quite quickly. ERA 1 is similar in play style to WW2 except for the vision system, whilst ERA 2 is just a blast, anything goes arena - Armadillos, missiles and the overpowered FVs.
On the CW costs, I started off just playing stock and not upgrading and, for the most part, it doesn't make a great deal of difference.
I wish more people would take another look at CW...

  • @thackest2k
    @thackest2k 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

The only comparison I can put ww2 and cw is like cw is Rock Paper Scissors and ww2 is Pokémon both have the same mechanics but one has effective value stats
Long are the days of where a vanguard can be hiding in a bush 50m away from a chieftain who is proper bricking it wondering where they are being spotted
ww2 there are a load of major factors that kick in to it with speed, camo, vision and effective skills/equipment to improve your overall stats and so many different versions of that can be disrupted
cw is more balanced where tanks are nearly all similar to each other and even with upgrades from skills and equipment it’s not going to be a massive factor other than the heal mechanic in the mode
With the first battle at the end you had line of sight but your sixth sense never went off so they could have been outside your proxy detection with em being right at the edge of the cap with the leo and t-43 might have the silent engine skill if they wasn’t moving it’s gonna be hard to pick up which that skill is meant to work
At 5:23 you was out of the heavy tank/they was out of your radio range so you don’t know where they are the only thing you know is they are alive
In ww2 every skill, equipment and load out matters in cw you can be picky in what you have on your tanks that’s going to benefit you more than the others
End of the day they are 2 different 3rd person shooters with the play styles some enjoy one flavour some enjoy the other some enjoy both or some don’t like any at all :)

    • @Chris_73618
      @Chris_73618 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Even tho it’s true vision u realize that good players actually use the bush to hide in or behind when shooting. Soooo view range actually matters to see some tanks it’s not all pick whatever u want. Mr ww2 skills, equipment, load out matters. everything actually matters lol Camo matter in Cold War to give you that effect of being hidden while firing behind a object concealed while still being seen of course in the true vision aspect. But not detected, or actually having the tank shaped being seen if your using your terrain the right way. Bush, trees etc.
Six sense good on Cold War can help utilize that strategy. To know when your seen through bushes. Not every map is always open. U don’t have to go brawl all the time. Not to mention the fact you actually have to take a concealed route to hide your attack scheme so a speed build can be used for that purpose or to take key terrain away by securing it 1st to make them have to fight you for it vs having a 50/50 of who gets it. or to have a rammer build set up so when your hull down the enemy can’t just rush you because main battle tanks can pull a Obi-wan and say I have the high ground and will take 1000 hp off your tank with a ram depending on if they are using a heavy beast like the m1a2 or leopard 2av5
So the plan of attack must change. And having spall liner might also give u the option along with prek crew skills to open options to take the hill even tho he’s got a elevated position so you won’t be so screwed when’s he coming down at you. The track protection cough could counter them tracking you coming down a hill so it matters. Your flawed and biased so stfu trying to be a saint saying they offer both good and then the next hate being a complete fool of your self and contradict yourself the next. An yes I was bored an had nothing to do for like 5 mins so suck it I responded to you lol
An yes I have a life don’t use that because my response is just as long as yours

I enjoy both modes but from the very first time I played ww2 I could clearly see that the vision system is out dated . What I mean by outdated is that it's obvious that the ww2 vision system has been made a feature, mechanic because of technology restraints at the time it was originally designed. Most pcs were unable to keep rendering objects so for mass consumption it had to be limited rendering.
It's always amazed me that players are so proud of being able to master the ww2 vision mechanics and how a tank you are fighting is able to move a metre back and become totally invisible .

I think the opposite. The camo system in WW2 is in my opinion a tactical feature to use, in CW you can get shot from the other side of the map. Not every map is made for CW, so ppl who know the dirty little spots own the game. Additionally I think there are too many broken tanks in CW, tiny fast rocket launchers who kill you our of nowhere etc…
I just enter CW from time to time to earn silver. But there is no fun for me, playing against clan platoons with 3 gunmarks, they run the enemy or my team.
I get your point, you enjoy CW. But I am a casual player, I don’t have all day to study the maps, learn each new OP CW premium tank and tbh is the gameplay in CW too fast for my taste sometimes. And since I often find the queue lobby empty or just 20 players waiting for a game, I think the majority of players are not having much fun in CW.
So I personally think the opposite and I think that’s fine, different ppl have different tastes

@@jacobsekela8691 I was one of the people that really liked True Vision in WWII. They only thing that didn't work for me was that when the tank wasn't spotted it wasn't a silhouette like in cold was so premium Tank with loud camos like the Tiger Shark or Dragon stuck out like a sore thumb. I remember seeing a tiger shark on Malinovka Winter and due to the True Vision mechanic now greying out the tank when not spotted I could see it as clear as day on a white background. This isn't an issue with True Vision now, so the only negative I had for it originally has been fixed.

I highly disagree with this mainly because of the FPS generalization, this game is not a FPS it is a team based, role based, strategy game. Where people have their roles that complement each other and aid in allowing others to do well to achieve victory. CW takes this and ruins the whole point making everything devolve into a system where everything becomes a 1 man army that does not rely on any team play to counter weaknesses as there really are none.
6.0 already fundamentally changed the balance of the game, and CW just makes it so they divert development away from the actual game that people signed up to play.

In WW2: You have a limited distance on the map and therefore you just have a limited viewrange. That seems logical to me. And the tanks all have their pros and cons. Better armor, better gun, but less speed and less viewrange. You have to decide what you can play better with.
In Cold War even a light tank is a main battle tank. They are to strong and in this mode you really don‘t need a LT to spot the enemy. All the different classes of tanks don‘t make any sense.
And than, there are missiles. These should have at least 100 meters to fly to make any damage. Missiles should only work as long range weapons - just as in reality.
I played Cold War a lot, but I returned to WW2. In my opinion it is the better, more tactical playstyle. But that‘s just my thought.

I wasn't really that arsed about 6.0 but there were some issues I had that have never been addressed and probably never will. The constant snapshotting from half the map away from someone not even aiming at you really pisses me off, especially when you're 2 tiers down and in something with no armour. The problems with the game right now are the 3 Cs. Campers, morons who won't move up or off the spawn, lost count of the amount of games I've lost because you're basically playing on your own. Capping, people capping when you're massively in the ascendancy. Why? Clueless players, just utterly, utterly useless players who have no idea what they are doing and do fuck all. Not defending WW2 because I do prefer Cold War over it every day, but WW2 has a camouflage mechanic that can even keep a tank invisible even if they are inside your tanks view range. Remember, there are things like camo netting as equipment that add to a tanks camo factor, and even paint jobs add some too. Then you have commander skills like green thumb, silent driving, ect that all enhance camo values to a tank on top of the paint jobs and camo net equipment. All those aspects will affect what you see and when you will see, beyond just a tank being within view range. Now you say you love the death barn in Cold War, I think it needs a speed nerf because I’ve seen them chase down light tanks and even turn on a dime to keep up with them. It can easily out maneuver even fully upgraded medium tanks. It needs to have the same maneuverability as a fully upgraded centurion 2 to keep it in line with other era 1 medium tanks that are not carrying a massive naval cannon as a main weapon.

Have to agree... I have played for 4 years but not continuously, keep coming back to this game only to be disappointed by the WW2 mode. CW was naff at first, but now with some very good tanks it's great and what I prefer to play. WW2 tech tree grinds are shit for the most past, you're constantly outclassed and outmatched, even mid tier premiums are useless at times. 6 shots from the Minuteman using premium ammo for no pens, because it was a tier IX game. Useless. The tanks I was interested in grinding for like the top centurions, M48s, Sheridans etc are now all in CW so I've junked and sold almost all my WW2 stuff, except for a few tier X premiums and concentrate on CW mode. It's just far better balanced to me and seems to be the main focus for WG on the console, despite what they say. I have nowhere near the number of frustrating games in CW that I have had in WW2. I don't have time to waste on frustrating fruitless games - there's enough frustration in real life. I don't expect to win all the time but still want satisfying games. The inbuilt bias in WW2 as well as the unbalanced matchmaking is so ingrained in WW2 it cannot be fixed, the attitude we get is "there it is, deal with it. Git gud" and other such statements from morons.

Hi Riki, Agree with your comments. Not only is true vision better but the Era system is what makes cold war so much better for me. The capability difference between the top "level" and bottom "level" tanks within a Cold War Era is much less than if you meet a tank 2 tiers higher in WW2. That’s very false xD the fact that a bottom era tank can never face anything that is a “tier” lower than it makes the grind awful because as a bottom era tank it’s only +2-0 and a middle era tank would be +1-1 and a top era tank would be +0-2 so in fact the era system is worse than the tier system

I am in agreement with your comment about what inherently causes the toxicity within WW2 mode as a systemic problem within the core game itself. That problem is also then again compounded by the unbalanced matchmaking with too few skilled or veteran players from one side to the other. WW2 now has about 70-80% of the players more often than not on both the winning or losing team managing 3 or less penetrating shots before being destroyed. As such WW2 mode is playing more similar to checkers than the chess game it once was. Perhaps more accurately checkers with a queen in play on the board, the queen of course being artillery. I find WW2 frustrating to play coming back from CW now if I am in anything other than a light vehicle or tank with similar stats to a light tank, which provides the closest playstyle to that of CW for me.

Love the channel, BUT: this time it sounds like a unicum who had ground all the crew skills, learned the maps, tanks stats to master view ranges/camo and has been rinsing less experienced players for years responding to complaints of “its not fair” with “Git gud scrub” THEN spends weeks mastering COld war and truevision and when he returns to ww2 the shoe is on the other foot and he’s forgotten how to play the game without truevision…… ah well 😅

You're right. Only, it doesn't take weeks to master CW. People that were unicum in WW2 have it even easier in CW. The noobs are even easier to farm because they have bigger tanks to hit and more HP to eat...

@@paskeetje you’re right lmao I only play CW for silver. I’m super unicum. Cold War is so easy it isn’t even funny
There’s nothing in it to master. You can see everything. Unicums already know the best areas on maps to go to avoid getting shot by noobs trying to snipe 800m distance using true vision LOL

back when the true vision tests happened pre 6.0 along side +1/-1mm i found that i started doing a whole alot better as a casual player, i was able to play smarter without putting myself at risk like i usually do, personally +1/-1 and true vision are needed in the original game mode.

True vision isn’t needed in the original game
Because tanks are balanced around the normal spotting mechanics. That’s why borsig’s can remain unspotted basically all the time but they are slow as balls to compensate
If you had 💩 vision you’d have to make every tank roughly the same speed otherwise all it does it further throw out the balance of tanks
Don’t you remember when they tested it in WW2? It was heavily disliked and for good reason

@@CN7810-X He's trying to make a point that true vision doesn't work in WW2 because it would make roughly 50% of the tanks in that mode completely unplayable. And he's right.
I have no problem with true vision in CW because all the tanks being brought into that mode are developed for it. They're all very similar which makes it more boring in my opinion, but that another discussion. The tanks in WW2 are not developed for this so true vision would wreck that mode.
The two should remain the way they are and be kept separate, imo.
