Only when it comes to Sepultura, because outside of that. They haven't done anything special. I still respect their work in Sepultura but let's not fool ourselves. They still live in the shadows of what was a great band in the early 80- 90's

@@Raphaeldrums speak properly because that makes zero sense what you just sent me i respect that u admire igor thats fine i have zero hate for the guy as for my original comment after i saw the video and being an extreme metal drummer myself since igor got a Fkn record contract with sepultura way back when- i did infact notice he totally fkd up one of the easiest yet most important groove changes/verse fills in the damn song here people are allowed to make mistakes but i was merely chuckling at you being so admirable towards the guy when here he bombed the damn song and he even knew it if you are a drummer dude you would have caught that severe fuck up right away while u sit on your couch or whatever the heck you were trying to say to me im not exactly sure but i hope its a cozy sofa me .. im behind my drums writing my own music thats way more technical and heavier than anything max wrote and i even after 20 yrs dont fuck up songs i write that bad clearly he forgot the time change and or the correct buildup and as i am someone who has been on as big a stage as him ill give credit to the man maybe his monitors were messed up ...i doubt that though....he made a mistake and it really flubbed the pulse nothing more nothing less

Talvez um dos bateristas mais criativos do metal, principalmente em Arise, Chaos A.D e Roots, um dos poucos a ter um estilo próprio em que só de ouvir já se sabe quem está tocando. Grande Igor... essa garotada de condomínio nunca irão saber o que era o Sepultura ao vivo no começo dos anos 90.

Apesar que o tempo passou tenho total respeito pela história do iggor por TD que criou e influencia o metal.com seu jeito de tocar único,o Eloy pode ser rápido mais técnico mais a criativa do iggor ninguém tira,numa época bem mais difícil o cara realmente revolucionou.

I saw that show at the Tweeter in Chicago. Massive pit for Sepultura. They had a general admission area that was a pit. But the seats area turned into a pit for Sepultura. I lost a shoe and had to drop down to find it.

ENVELHECEU! E dai! ESSA Entrada simplismente sera eternizada. Melhor musico é o que compõe. E os bateristas modernos são rapidos, técnicos más não tem ainda uma composição como a linha original dessa batera e outras pelo Igor criadas.

@@MrTimcoelho verdade, ele é muito bom, melhor que o Igor, más é muito experimental. O dia que acertar um ritimo, um feeling audível. Ninguém poderá alcanca-lo, compõe bem, más a música cança depois de 3 ouvidas.

São composições de batera única.
É isso que o Eloy e esses bateras modernos precisam entender. Não é o BPM que agrada, mas sim as viradas.
A batera do Eloy grita mais que a guitarra e o volcal. Fica difícil saber o que é o instrumento master da música.
Veja Sad But True do Metallica, peso e ritmos casados perfeitamente... é uma musica que se escuta hora pela batera, hora pela guitarra, hora pela voz.

Iggor tem um felling único, pqp! O cara criou uma pegada de tocar que muitos depois dele seguiram a risca.
Max e Igor. Falem o que quiser, mas a química desses 2 era a completa essência do Sepultura. Toca muito, mão pesada, pegada e groove únicos.
Max, Igor e Andreas. A guitarra do Andreas é bem marcante no sepultura. Nao é a mesma coisa com outros tocando. Sepultura dos anos 90 nao tem igual.

I had the good fortune to meet Iggor and Max through Phil Anselmo here in New Orleans back in the 90s when they were on tour with Pantera, and lucky for me I was onstage when Iggor sat in for Vinnie Paul for one song during the Pantera set. Iggor nailed it just as good as Vinnie would do it, and Vinnie was tickled watching him play his parts. Max and Iggor are very down to earth and fun to be around as well as being top notch musicians.
I am very Jealous! These two are my most favourite bands ever!

Daqui a alguns anos a galera vai ficar falando mal do George Kolias igual falam do Igor e do Joey. Dois pioneiros do metal. Ja vi nego falando do Inferno do behemoth comparado com o Krihm. Nego é extremamente mal agradecido e não toca nada. Muito menos tem a mesma criatividade.
E tem o seguinte o Igor sempre foi pura força pra tocar , não é um cara criado em instituto de música cagando técnicas, é um mamute selvagem , a parte física pesa muito mais com a idade, mesma coisa é o Lars Ulrich , Mike Bordin...

He's the only drummer ive seen set up like that. Right foot with left hand tom set up.
I guess when it went a bit more tribal he was less inclined to roll along the notes, so didn't need the more usual setup, so whatever is more convenient will do it. The surprise to me is that for some years he's had little or no angle on the toms, so there's a lot of height to make up going from snare to tom without hitting the rims. Works for him obviously!
@@crazydavec3861 Yea, I play a little and have tried to set my drums up like that when I was younger cuz honestly He and Mike Bordin played like that and I thought it looked cool. That lasted less than 30 minutes. How they do it or why I'll never know but like you said "It works for them..."

@@goldenltd1970 Iv'e seen that guy play for a few different bands and no matter which band he plays for I always end up watching him for probably 80% of the show. Amazed at how he actually hit the drums and his snare work. Then I'd go home and try to set my kit up like his , with the high flat toms and there was just no frikin way. The only other drummer that even come close to playing like him is Eloy from Sepultura. Actually, now that I think about it, Igor Cavalera, the original drummer for Sepultura used to play with raised toms also. He was good but IMHO, Eloy and Bordin are just on another level.

Hell, Neil Pearts last tour kit was larger than his Moving Pictures kit.
Those front toms look huge. Basically they sound like floor toms. The angle is quite odd too. Igor is one of my absolute favorites!

They are huge, he gets that big powerful sound from the size & tuning. No one had a better sound.
Sd Ny Yea Igor always has had a great sound, and was a beast on the kit..well after watching recent videos like this I should say IS not was lol. Dude def uses some huge toms; one of the only other drummers I can think of (at least in metal) who also always used big ass toms is Vinnie Paul of Pantera. VP's drumming in Pantera was great, he played with a ton of fuckin power; and he & Rex always held an extremely tight pocket driving home that groove behind Dime's riffs/solos. I gotta say Igor may be more technically impressive and has a pretty distinct style...and like VP great as well at driving/creating Sepultura's groove. But I gotta say VP was king when it purely comes down to driving home that powerful, heavy groove haha.

I've never played drums but I have to imagine that being a thrash metal drummer like Igor, you have to have more stamina than a boxer or fighter. that's approximately 1 hour you're banging away at the drums. am I right?
btw igor is the best drummer ever. love that tribal groove that he brings. so glad I got to meet him and max a few years ago
I am a drummer & Igor is my biggest influence by far. Yeah it's great cardio but it's not like boxing because you use your wrists & ankles. I played a show with Dying fetus & he didn't even break a sweat but I get into it so I get drenched.
If drumming is as tough as going 12 rounds of professional boxing, you're probably doing it wrong. Yes, playing drums in a metal band IS a kind of exercise, and it does require a certain level of physical fitness, but playing a 50-minute live concert doesn't quite compare to, say, intense workout in a gym for the same duration of time.
To me it's about how hard you hit and if you are playing mic'd or not. High Tempo definitely makes you sweat. But there are plenty of grindcore drummers who barely sweat. If you have a finesse style with (imo) less room for dynamics then you might not even sweat. I digress. It's not much of a workout unless you make it one. Been drumming ten years in grindcore mostly and I sweat usually and I hit hard and do single foot blasts etc. The modern style is definitely a more efficiency based playing style.
