Logo Design on Fiverr... Is It Worth It? (LOOK AT THE RESULTS)

  • I’m starting a new business and I’m going to get a logo designed for $50 or less on Fiverr and I’m going to share my results with you. This is the second video of my Fiverr series where I share with you my experience of outsourcing business-related tasks to freelancers on Fiverr. I will link to that playlist here so you can check that out if you want.
    Now the reason I'm creating this video series is because I know that starting a handmade business is a lot of work and there are inevitably a lot of things on your to-do list that you either don't love to do, you don't know how to do or you just don't want to do.
    Nevertheless these are things on your to-do list that just cannot seem to get done and I'm a firm believer that if it is an important task and it needs to get done then maybe it's time to outsource it and have someone else do it for you. Fiverr if you've not heard of it before is a marketplace of service providers and freelancers that sell a service like graphic design, product description copywriting, product photography, search engine optimization and a whole lot more. What's really cool about Fiverr is you get access to a lot of really talented freelancers for very affordable prices.

    Something to think about is design students, or those just starting out in the industry looking to build their portfolios. Often times their services will be lower priced since they are still learning, or looking for things so they can add on to their portfolios - for the same amount of money you spent on fiverr, you could have given the project to someone who would possibly care just as much about your project as you do because it'd mean something to them and wasn't just another number in their queue.
    Investing in a young designer or a student is great work for them as they try to get started in the industry, especially if you're a small business who is tight on funds. Collaborating with a smaller designer like that could really help both of you grow!

      @@djphilsantos You can check on linkedin, or reach out to universities to see if they have a design program and who to contact in that department. Going through the department, and the professors could help since they'll have a better idea as to the student's capabilities and might be able to suggest a specific student who could fit what you're looking to do.

      Agree. I've been going through different products and finally found my calling. 3 years, learning and have made many, many mistakes. Had to actually take time off from my dream due to life.
      Currently, I'm relearning, because things have changed a lot since I actually sold on etsy. I have a lot a head of me, but I'm excited to be where I am now with my new products.
      Anyways, I have used etsy for logos and other designs. I love having people from etsy design for me. For one, I'm supporting another crafter/designer. Then the best part is that they are very happy to make sure you are completely happy with their products. They take pride in their work, which gives the customer a well thought of design.

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      My suggestion with Etsy though is to make sure that it is going to be a one-time logo that is not premade that they can sell over an over again. You want your logo to be yours alone and not share it with another business.

    • @CreativeHiveCo

      I guess I feel like it's all very subjective - what seems simple to one person may be very complicated to another. And if the business owner is happy with it and they don't want to take the time to do it themselves, then I think Fiverr can be a good option.

      @nithinkarunakaran4057 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is such a wrong thing to say... What seems simple to you, took hours of brainstorming on the part of the designer.... Simple doesn't mean it's easy... This is what happens often in this world, artists are not given their due... For example, the apple logo is so simple, but ppl never say that it's such an easy thing coz they are already a brand... But if it was a lesser known brand then that logo designer wouldn't have been appreciated.... Sad world 😔

    Still laughing at the one that didn't even read the design brief. Not all designers are like that, but if they're charging that cheap of a price, Idk if you can be surprised. A logo for your small business doesn't have to cost hundreds (or thousands) of dollars. You can find good designers at $100-300 that will fit what you need, better than you could have ever imagined.

    Wow I know this video is older but still, thank you so much for sharing your experience, I think I’m going to try Fiverr.
    Are you allowed to trademark/copyright the logo after they design it for you? Would they try to argue that the logo is their work? Definitely looking to get a logo to trademark/ copyright it but scared a designer will not allow for this process. Any clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated ❤🙏

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When you commission a logo on Fiverr, the rights to the design typically belong to you upon completion and payment. However, I'd say clarify this with the designer before starting the project. Most designers on Fiverr are open to discussing ownership and usage rights, and many even offer options for transferring full rights to you upon completion.
      Before finalizing any agreement, make sure to communicate your intentions clearly with the designer to avoid any confusion down the line. 😊

    It depends on the designer. Based on your video 40$ it's a lot for the quality they offered... very disappointed. When I was a student I remember I stayed like 1 - 2 years to 5$ before upgrading. I ended up with something that I liked very much. Working with someone on a logo is a process because you don't start out on the same page and you have to go back and forth a few times to help you get closer on an idea. I wouldn't be worried - you can find some great work there! Just be as clear as you can be on your concept and purchase a package with revisions.

      @@CreativeHiveCo The real problem is that it's not about whether you like it or not.
      Brand creation is supposed to be done by professionals, people who have education in visual communication. not any guy who can draw a little. otherwise, I'm sure you have a little cousin who could have made you the same logo.
      You have an issue, this issue is that you need a professional logo made. You ask for the help of a "specialist" in the field.
      But at the end of the day, you are telling him/her what fonts and colors you like.
      How is this person a specialist? Like I said in my own comment, it's like seeing a doctor and telling him what you need.

      Hi Aiicha! If you’re in the US or Canada, you automatically have copyright of your artwork/sketch as soon as you make it. When you’ll want to register the copyright for your work is when you want to be able to sue for damages. You can check out this article to learn more about it: www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-general.html. With regards to your Fiverr question, I think this article will be very helpful: creativegeniuslaw.com/do-i-legally-own-the-content-or-designs-created-by-someone-i-hired-from-fiverr/ Good luck!! ❤️❤️

      Hi do you need a logo

  • @calieandco
    @calieandco 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, if you're getting a logo, they should send you a few different sketches (pencil on paper) before putting in the work, so they know if they're on the right track. From the video, it looks like none of these designers did that.

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There was some back and forth behind the scenes with the designers, which allowed us to get closer to what I was looking for.

    It has been some years since I looked at fiverr but when I was last looking it was as a potential freelancer. Back then you had to sell your "thing" for £5 (hence the name) and you didn't get the full £5 of course. Fiverr take their cut. So what can I do in so little time that selling it for less than £5 is not just mugging myself A LOT less than minimum wage. What is this about getting something for $50? Did they change the price structure?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Freelancers on Fiverr can charge a different rate than $5 now, which can make the pricing more competitive.

    i can’t remember if you mentioned it; but how does it work as far as payment? u pay half and get the logo then you pay the rest if you like it? also are you able to send something you sketched out for them to use as a reference ?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fiverr is an upfront payment, which is why you need to look at all the criteria of what you get out of the package before you place your order.

      Hi! No. Sorry I misinterpreted your question for Tiny Hands. This was for another business I was working on then. With regards to building site, pretty much for all our online shops, I usually build the site myself since Shopify makes it easy to do so without having programming knowledge. For additional features, I would use Shopify addons. If there was something I couldn't do on my own, I would talk to customer support for Shopify or for the addon. And if I absolutely could not figure it out on my own, I have a Shopify developer I love using to help me with the more advanced features. Hope that helps! 😊

      When it comes to my businesses I am super picky because my brands represent me and I want everything to be just right. Branding tells the customer so much about who the business is and it is such an important step in business development. It's not a place to be wishy-washy about what you really want.
