Thrift shopping for vintage and antiques is my favorite thing to do! Today we go shopping at a massive Victorian Estate Garage sale in search of unique antiques and vintage home decor & furniture. I also check my local Goodwill thrift store for any awesome items to decorate with for the seasons ahead. Farmhouse decor from Joanna Gaines Magnolia is a huge trend right now! I score true Magnolia designer velvet chairs on facebook marketplace for a fraction of retail!

I used to have a beautiful antique walnut console with chipped veneer; I lightly sanded the rough parts, then varnished it and topped it with glass. I also love the look of an antique with all the blemishes. For that table, I would clean it well with Murphys Wood Oil soap, then re-stain it. I probably would also top with glass for protection if it's going to be used as kitchen table. Nice find!

Another tip for artificial plants or flowers is if all the leaves are sticking straight and don't look natural, take a lighter and quickly move it under the leaf to warm it, then curve it for a natural curve. Also if the flowers are frayed, use a lighter to lightly burn the the stray pieces, because they are polyester it will melt up to the petal.
I truly love utube thrifting videos, but love better,actually doing the real thrifting.
I don't shop like,I use to,but still love vintage and antiques and just going through old homes with original furnishings and fixtures, something Romantic.

That table is to die for ! I think it is absolutely exquisite. When you then put the chairs with it, I thought that you should not stain the table darker, as they are they look a really good match ❤. Pete is such a sweetheart getting involved with your thrifting, love it that he got some things for himself. Also loved the carved wooden lady statue, your mum is a very lucky lady. The lace table runner was another unique and beautiful piece that you own. Love your videos 🥰
I found a beautiful buffet in a dump pile in someone's yard. I asked if I could take it off their hands. There was a lot of veneer on it that was beyond repare, so i peeled it off. I sanded and stained it like the rest of the buffet, and I have to say it turned out pretty great. I wish I could send you a picture. It would be interesting to see what's under the veneer on your great find! You could also patch where it's chipped off. As always, a fun and informative video.

Pete's the 1st person I've ever known that went to a sale and caught a fish! We can only imagine the stories he'll tell people. LOL (just joshing Pete.) Love that table and the chrs.! A white table runner was my 1st thought when I saw that table but a vintage velvet table runner would look great on it too. Maybe at Christmas time.

Doing veneer is fun, easy, veneer very forgiving. Using sawdust around edges creates an almost invisible edge.

very simple to do the veneer. Secret is to replace the veneer with a piece that it will go with the grain of the wood. Rub with paper and pencil to get a rubbing. then use it to cut a piece of veneer and glue and clamp down. that's it. Les

I have peeled off veneer, sanded the glue off, and stained....much easier than dealing with it!

I took chipped veneer off an antique buffet…it was super easy. Damp towels on it for a little while and it peeled right off with blade. Super simple.

I am so jealous of that table and chairs. They look perfect together. It looks really romantic. The wood on the table looks like it could use some oil and that's for sure. Maybe it's just the video but it looks really dry.😊
Love the table and chairs. They're stunning. If you want to fix the veneer, I'd just patch the 2 large missing pieces. Dashner Design or Thomas Johnson on TH-cam are excellent in explaining how to do repairs. 😊
I remember when you first saw that shelf.
We had 107+ mph winds on Father’s Day and I lost my gazebo with my wisteria. (Also lost an Autumn blaze maple, a red bud and a windshield!!). I have never heard so many people mention wisteria since I lost it. 😢 Anyway… I love all your finds and so enjoy when Pete joins you!! 😊

What great finds! I especially loved the table and chairs for Mom. The dishes can be used for any occasion, they matched with the larger one perfectly. I've watched a woman on TH-cam restore Victorian houses and she uses linseed oil on all the woodwork and it turns out stunning. I'd love to have that wooden goddess statue in my garden. You have an exquisite eye! You're sweet daughter.

Holy cow-that’s my piano! The same one. I found mine at an auction and bought it for $30 because my grandma had the same one and since it was local I thought it may have been her’s. That is one HEAVY piano-has a huge piece of brass inside.

You can put wood glue under the peeling veneer and clamp. Or if you want to remove it cover in wet towels and leave overnight. Make it a lot easier to remove.

The antique oak table is already stripped for you. I would only put a light cerusing wax on it and then a glass top so it would be super easy to care for using it as a kitchen table. Great score. I didn't know Magnolia sold that style of imported French chairs. Great score there also.
Take the table to a glass shop and have them cut glass to fit the table top. Problem solved as you can leave the veneer as is and not devalue the piece.

That little table is so dreamy! I’m not sure how to fix the missing veneer, but I know I would fill it in and glue it down some how and certainly oil up that table to keep the light wood look! I love that so much!! The chairs are such a serendipitous find and are just stunning with the table! It’s meant to be!! Old castle feel!! Wow Selena , I can believe how perfectly those Chairs and Table matched each other...the Gods were listening and working their Magic for sure ...will look so fab ! Had to chuckle, because I stopped video to write comment...and then You spoke about how You were on a roll and BLESSED with thrifting hahaha...also finding the wee shelf so perfect! Had to laugh as well because we pretty much had the opposite day. Had to drive all the way into town to pick up a cool record I won... BLESSED..thought we would check out a few Thrift shops. 2 were not open in time , one had moved and another was crazy priced clothing ...should have know we were going against the flow today...as every time we went somewhere there was trouble with finding a park ...also we were hungry so that did not help ..so we came home ...now I am getting my fix watching Your video hahaha ...thanks x

The plates are Nippon geisha plates ( Japan ). I have a set with teapot and a lovely hot chocolate pot. Some are called "lady in the garden." They come in your red color and also in a very pretty blue. Wow that table...the lion heads are gorgeous! Nothing better than to have a super Mom! I was so lucky to have two wonderful parents who both lived to 90. You have a wonderful family!
