Hello from deepest South Devon in the South West of England. I have been watching your podcasts all this year and feel very lucky that they were the first podcasts I ever watched. You have helped me through a very difficult year which has seen me both recover from major hip surgery and close my wool shop. I am now a new convert to podcasts and have also watched many others mainly through your recommendations. So a huge thankyou. I am 63 and have knitted since I was two years old. I have taught many people to knit and spin..it has cheered me to know that so many young people are enjoying these fibre crafts and are now linked across the world.

@@knittingtraditionsThank you All went very well and I am now out of pain. Knitting is almost always the answer to most things in my opinion. In my shop I specialised in selling natural yarns and the majority were not super was as I have always advocated the yarns you call rustic..(I do like this description) I now have a house full plus a friend's spare room of remainder stock. If you know of any one who would be interested..I still sell a little to my current stoners from my cottage, but it would be nice to see the rest go to a good home maybe a startup business. I have some interest in this but would like to spread the net further afield. Take care. Dawn.

I would add my voice to your post as TH-cam podasters have helped me more than I can say over the pandemic. Inga being one of the best podcasters, imo, and I think we should give a huge thank you to her for holding down a high stress job and producing the podcasts we love. ❤💖💙🧡❤

I have also knitted my way through a couple of hip replacements and so many other losses and ups and downs. I cannot imagine how difficult it was to close your wool shop. It is wonderful to "meet" you here though!!

@@Stumpybear7640 I agree. I would love to learn to do a podcast but don't have a clue how to start. I was used to travelling around giving talks to large groups but it's the tech bit I would flounder with.

Thank you so much for explaining your process with the islander color work sweater! It helps me so much to hear how you make adjustments so that the item fits better and/or so the color work turns out beautifully! i am no where near as prolific a knitter as you are, but I also enjoy finding different yarns to try, and different techniques or patterns so that I challenge myself a little bit. I love knitting!! Whenever I see that you've posted a new episode, I get a big smile on my face!!

I use a mnemonic for kitchener. Just remember to ‘cough upon’ your kitcheners. That means You ‘koff pon’ the front needle, (knit-off : purl-on). and then reverse that for the back needle ie ‘poff kon’ (purl-off : knit-on). Set up is just the ‘on’ parts of that, so purl-on for the front needle, knit-on for the back. I hope this makes sense 😊

Sandnes garn also has brand new diy catalog that I know you will love!! La bien Aimee has a new book ( not yet released ) that looks interesting too ! The leather bags are gorgeous, I’m getting a Tumi bag ( the Adrian) , very expensive , for knitting and traveling, I’m going to visit family in March. I hope for it to be the only bag I will ever need🧶🤣 loved the blog , all the names are stunning, please keep showing acquisitions, it’s my favorite part !! 😊

One of the things I love about your podcast is that you aren't constantly using hand dyed yarn for everything. I love hand dyed yarn, but I can't afford it for everything. A sweater will run $100.00 to $200.00 dollars for hand dyed yarn. I love hearing about all the other yarns and where you find them. It is a big help. Your sweaters are always lovely. Thank you for sharing it all with us.

Hi there. It is been some time since I have checked in. As a doctor I am so amazed with your time to knit and bring these video’s in sharing your beautiful makes. I am having a bit of tea also while watching. The sweater is fabulous. Wow the stripes match from the sleeves to the body. Such perfection. I do love that type of collar and have thought of alternating a pattern (pretty bold for me) to make it mine. Nice that you had time to visit yarn stores. One day I would love to visit Norway.

I am knitting my first top-down raglan sleeve sweater (Petite Knit's "No Frills Sweater"). I chose a lace boucle in pale tan and a fingering weight in dark cream. It's not too bad, though I do catch needles in it ever so often, but it is beautiful!
I've been knitting off and on for over 50 years, or I wouldn't have tried a boucle and a new adventure at the same time. It's working out though. Thanks for being an inspiration.

I found your podcast while searching for podcasts to watch while crocheting a few weeks ago and have been following along since. I figured although I’m not a knitter, I would still enjoy these podcasts based on our shared love of yarn! I love the look of knitted items, but I’ve been scared off from hand knitting as I’ve always struggled and been hopelessly slow with creating projects. Well, you did it. You inspired me to pick up my dusting circular knitting needles and now I have a pair of leg warmers/boot cuffs casted on. The process has been satisfying as I’m using a bulky yarn and my work is growing quickly. Im feeling more confident in my knitting capabilities! I’m excited to begin to learn how to be a more experienced knitter! Your podcasts give me so much joy since I can see how happy knitting and yarn makes you. Looking forward to seeing more from you!

28:40 you easily can already join the quarters by a nice crochet stich in a contrast colour. So you can save time. Always nice to watch your Podcast ❤

You've chosen some nice patterns and yarns for your knitting. Like your striped self designed jumper. You should discover some native Norwegian designs and add your own unique style. Like with your grandmother's sock technique, but with patterns, colour works for jumpers.Just a thought.

I know nothing about crocheting so I have zero advice for your blanket, however I’m so excited to see it finished! I’ve been loving hand-made blankets recently ❤

Beautiful knitting! You may be thinking of the Alaska Hat. It is in my queue and so is the sweater.

FYI, in Italian "filati" just means "yarn", so that yarn must have another name too 😉
It was lovely to visit with you today! Love your makes ❤️

Always a delight to sit and knit to your podcast! I love both sweaters you wore; the stripe my favorite! I think Kat of Heather and Hops might have a pine tree hat border pattern...think she did a sweater too. Happy New Year!

Love your podcasts! Is there a formula for adding short rows to use at the back of a garment?

16:38, I love the top-down raglan, the colorwork has a horizontal stripe effect to it that's why it makes you 'look' bigger; I find that horizontal stripes tend to do that.

Hi Inga. Another great episode. I agree with you on the Gilliatt. I am knitting a sweater with it right now (using 2 of the colors you used plus a 3rd). The pattern calls for 20 sts on a 3.5 mm but I thought the fabric too dense so I went up to a 4.5mm and am doing a much smaller size. We will see how it turns out. You might check out Jessica McDonald's Snowy Hat pattern. It uses Gilliatt and has small tree-like motifs. It is the matching hat for the sweater I am knitting, Snowy Pines.

I wonder if you were thinking of the Alaska hat. That has a pullover with the same tree colourwork pattern. I have made that hat and it is stunning but I am not sure if it is the right yarn weight for your project idea. I can recommend it though and am planning to make the pullover this year and another Alaska hat soon x

Inga, you've inpired me to make to Bjork Raglan, your version is a very beauiful color combination and it looks great on you!! I've just started knitting in the round (after the short rows) in the raglan increase section in the yoke but I'm stuck!! My problem is that in the raglan stitches around the BOR are not lining up. I cannot fingure out how to avoid the jog problem. I keep getting a zig zag pattern (like spider web) rather that the raindrops pattern at the BOR raglan. Please advise. I'd really appreciate any help here!

The stitch holder tubes. Are they hard to slide stitches on? Mine seem to stick more then I'd like. Takes me much longer to do the quick try on or block for size. Defeats the purpose. It looks like the same brand. I've gone back to the cross stitch string and darning needle.
