Yeah no I agree, most reviewers say something like “... for something around this price - $170 MAP at the time of writing this review...” but prices of guns can change a fair bit in airsoft
He over emphasized the small details like the flip up sights and the sling point attachment, like, it's not rare if a gun at that price point has those 2 things.
I have a gun very much like this in design, the M15 has a very similar body and stock but I'd say the barrel is bulkier. Cost me 160 for the gun, a mag and an extra 30 and 10 for a helmet and smart charger. Well worth it, works like a charm. I recommend this weapon for any new players.
I had a tippman aeg for a year it was amazing out the box payed 160 for it never had an issue with it sold it to a buddy who uses it now and still hasn’t upgraded anything on the gun and is still just as good as it was when I bought it
They're going for 50% off right now on the Tippmann website if you're still interested. $90 USD +S/H then again it's 2 years later, maybe a nice lightweight weekend fun gun.

ive had mine since the first came out and i play pro... i took this gun and upgraded it a ton... the reason for that was because i loved the way she felt and the outer style
Coincidence lancer tactical mmc is way better than the gen 2s and had the same externals as this but has a full lonex gearbox. Best budget gun out therr
Lancer does have some heat for around that $130 price point, there is a lot of competition in that sub $200 category. We probably should make a video comparing all of those sub 200 AEG's to get some concrete comparisons

If you want to remove the flash hider, just make sure to remove the small screww on the side of the flash hider first and then carefully unscrew the flash hider and you'll be fine. I have a tracer on there and it's workin awesome. Just remember CCW!
I love your videos and reviews, and I'm interested in this gun but you have to include a range or accuracy test :( my friends first gun was next to useless because the spread was just too much. I hope this is something you consider!
The gun that beats this is the lancer tactical mmc. Same externals besides it has a metal outer barrel and a different style rail. But it comes with a full lonex gearbox which retails for 140 alone. Which makes some of the best internals out there. It will blow this thing out of the water. I have ran everything from a jg all the way up to krytac and vfc. And the LT MMC line doesn't hold me back at all after 10 years of playing. It's the only gun out there right now I recommend to new guys. Way better then the combat machines!
Buy a refurbished umarex as an entry gun. They're usually less than $100, and even their $35 refurbed mp7 is excellent for the price, and all of their stuff uses Tamiya small connectors and have good power. They're all plastic though.
The two tabs that you push in to take the stock off won’t move… not sure how to take the end off the stock off to put batteries in. Friend has the same m4 and the tabs work fine.
Question for noob like myself: does the carbine and CQB variants actually make a measurable difference in accuracy? All factors kept the same, is there a real difference or is this just "whatever look you fancy more" when it comes to airsoft? I prefer the CQB but if someone can convince me that the carbine greatly improves accuracy then I may change my mind.
Could you review the G&G CM16L 2.0E, it seems really good value and it could be a better starter gun possibly? Also I was interested to know what makes a gun able to use an 11.1 lipo? Thanks
CL bites not very knowledgeable about these things but for a lipo you should probably have a MOSFET in your gun... some come integrated, and in others you’ll have to add them yourself. And your engine and gears and all that should probably be good enough to handle the stress...
A LiPo doesn't require a FET though. The gun will draw more current from a 9.6V NiMH battery than from a standard 2 cell 7.4V LiPo. A FET is really nice in combination with a micro switch and a 3S LiPo, but LiPo's and FET's aren't something that has to come hand in hand.
Dominik Wagner aight then. Using a lipo without a mosfet has the potential to burn up your engine and have a fire risk. The mosfet acts as some sort of regulator to prevent that from happening. Therefore, mosfet=good
all those things you found surprising are no surprise to tippmann fans because the company know that users want affordable gear that works they know what to cut corners on and what not to i mean the sights and sling are nice touches that put them 1 up on the competition causing more sales after all there are 2 ways to make profit higher prices or higher volume and tippmann goes for volume allowing them to not make utter crap

I would have liked to see a metal rail or a mosfet for this price, but they are new to the airsoft game and they need capital, so it can be excused. Looks like a good option.

Jonathan, I was wondering what your opinions are about periscopes, corner shots and the krummlauf. Should they be allowed? Are they an unfair advantage or just another utility? Should using them while shooting count as “blindfire” or should they only be used for observation? Thanks
They are blind firing, so therefore they should not be allowed. I'm personally fine with a periscope/angles lens as long as its not attached to the gun.
CasInbound true CornerShots use a fiber optic camera so you are never blind firing. Things like the periscopes shouldn't be, imo, as they are just firing devices, but something that you can see with that militaries use? It's the same argument ad riot shields, people don't like going against them, but they give a real advantage. Imo, CornerShots should be limited to semi auto, so there is less spray and pray. Just semi auto pistols. All of this is just my opinion, no need to get touchy people.
personally i use a periscope, but i dont shoot while doing so. i have also been hit in my periscope before and called it as a hit. i would like them to be allowed but only if they cant be used to shoot and count as player hit. they are part of your equipment and if any other part of your kit was hit it would count, so i dont see why they would be any different. cornershots are an interesting one. limiting them to semi is an interesting idea but most people use semi anyway so its not much of a disadvantage. if gun hits count then its not as big a deal, but otherwise you can get little immortal turrets. maybe with riot shields they should only allow opaque ones, that way you can be shot through any viewing slit you have in it.
Cuttlefish Rampant Properly shooting isn't just about being able to see your sights and your target, it is about having a good field of view that allows you to keep an eye on the area around your target to make sure there are no safety hazards. The FoV on angle shots are not nearly wide enough to get a full picture and because of that I would still consider them blind firing.

Damn. I cannot wait until they finally allow full airsoft down in Australia. We're restricted at the moment to paintball and Gel Cap which while similar is not quite to the same point, (and I wanna do some milsim dammit...) The commando looks like a quality product though for an entry level gun but you tend to expect that from Tippmann, though my exposure to them has been purely through their paintball gear.

Classic Army EC2 and EC1 have better components for $165, but not a bad looking AEG.
Edit: They also have MOSFETs which this gun does not

$170-$175? I dont think it's the best. Good? Yes, but Lancer Tactical has aegs with 6.03 tb and a rotary hopup w/ full length keymod rail around $130.

Big problem with these is the fire selector switch falling off would recommend some thread locker

It’s good for the first couple of weeks , even with cleaning and and taking care of the gun, then has multiple problems, good gun I rate 6 out of 10

I saw some range tests and these airsofts seem to lack in range like they have problems hitting uper torso size targets at 150feet
