DJI DRONE - STEPS BEFORE FIRST FLIGHT
1) UNBOX your DJI drone.
- Keep the serial number on the outside of the box.
2) CHARGE your BATTERIES and CONTROLLER completely.
- Phantom 4 owners, do NOT charge your battery and controller simultaneously with the same charger. This could damage either unit.
3) ACTIVATE your DRONE.
- Activate your drone in the DJI GO 4 app on your smartphone or tablet.
- DJI GO 4 app for Apple users: goo.gl/QEv5HF
- DJI GO 4 app for PC/Android users: goo.gl/RGCQTg
4) Purchase and activate drone INSURANCE, or DJI CARE REFRESH.
- Buy DJI Care Refresh here: goo.gl/9QwpJK
- Activate your DJI Care Refresh here: store.dji.com/dji_care_infos/...
- If activation does not work, email DJI Care Refresh Support: [e-mail]. Make sure to put, "Request for activating DJI Care Refresh" in your email heading.
5) UPDATE the newest FIRMWARE for your drone, controller, and battery.
- Upgrade to the newest firmware using your computer or phone.
- Make sure you have a micro SD card in the drone, batteries and controller are fully charged, and have no propellers on the drone.
- With your computer, download DJI Assistant 2: www.dji.com/phantom-4-pro/inf...
- Connect drone to computer, and update firmware in DJI Assistant 2. (OTG cable may be needed.)
- Connect controller to computer, and update firmware in DJI Assistant 2.
- Or update firmware on your phone. Never interrupt a firmware update.

It's crucial to remove that foam piece on (13:34). I left mine on for years and burned out my gimbal. I had to get it repaired and now it's fine. How can I have overlooked that?

It's not a requirement, but I would recommend it. Gives you a peace of mind and will cover you for up to 2 accidents during the first year.
