@laddgoodall6015 that's awesome! My daughter and I camped in the back yard a couple days ago and it was great! I need to work on what bedding I want in there still.
@@jeffpryor8670 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I appreciate that so much! I love mine. We camped in the backyard with it already. Be careful with the light bar cord. It's very fragile. If you got the wildfinder tent.
Just mounted the exact same tent on my Ranger, I did a bed rack of course. This tent with a 270° awning is perfect, but you need to access the tent from the side if you go that route.
I had the same one unfortunately had to send it back due to damage during shipping/transport aside from that look’s to be great quality for the money hopefully won’t have same problem with the next one
@andrewurista6174 that sucks! Sorry to hear. I had no damage to mine during shipment. I did break my cord to my light inside. I reached back out to the company and they are trying to make it right. I just need to send a picture to them. It's been a great tent so far. Slept in it 2 times so far
Nice review. How strong are the struts and are they easily replaceable? Mainly, I want to carry my recovery gear in a rifle case and canoe on top of the tent. My only concern is if the tent can still open and stay open with weight on the racks.
@mandingo9471 i would say very strong. I would have no problem putting alot of gear on it. It's actually a little difficult to close at times. I jump down whole holding the rope to close it. I think it's only a could bolts to replace them of they fail.
@mandingo9471 i hope you like it. It's been a great tent for what I do. I like how it looks on the Jeep as well. It's been riding nice for several months now
Did you need to drill into the platform to mount this or the previous tent? I also have the rhino rack platform system on my jku. Not sure what tent we’re going with yet, but this looks like a good option.

@PenguinOutdoors dude!!! How exciting! Let me know what you think? I had that smittybilt Rooftop Tent and now this one. To me it was a huge upgrade of ease of set up. I'm trying to make time to go one more time this year.
@@jones_edition I will for sure, I'll do a video on it probably late next week. It is set up on a stand in the garage and so far I'm really impressed. I got a diesel heater for it so I plan to get out a few times even while it's cold. Could make for some great, peaceful content since I'll likely be out there with all the woos to myself.
Thanks for the detailed vid, man! I also just subscribed. Two questions for you... do you think a down sleeping back can be stored inside the rtt while it's closed, and do you think it's super heavy?? No weight is listed on Amazon that i found.
@rockmail3 thanks so much for the sub! 1. I think the down sleeping bag will fit inside with the original mattress. I did swap mine out with a 3 in memory foam mattress. (I have a video on that - "camping prep vlog"). If you keep it all original, you can fit a decent amount of stuff inside. 2. I would say it's decently heavy but not as heavy as my old smittybilt Rooftop Tent. Maybe a total of 125 to 150 lbs (just guessing). I did get it on my roof rack by myself. It was tough. Two people would be recommended 😆 Hope that helps some! It's super dark inside. I like it better than my smittybilt RTT. The ease of set up and take down is my favorite part.
I can fit some but not all right now. Im planning on getting some vacuum bags to suck all the air out and hopefully I can leave my large pillows inside. I took out the original mattress and put a 3 in mattress topper inside. I have a video of that (camping prep video). With the 3 inch topper, I have two small camping pillows, one camping blanket, and one kids size sleeping bag. I have to store the ladder and my other pillows in the jeep for now.
@shamanizing you can definitely mount it on cross bars. I would make sure the cross bars are about to support the weight of you and the tent. It would be easier to mount on cross bars for sure. Lol mine was touch due to the spacing issue
@jones_edition Thanks, Jones. I was looking at a competitor RTT and saw this tent a couple of weeks ago, but there were no youtube reviews yet. This one will work. Have a good one, Ken 👍
@shamanizing I definitely think there are better tents out there. But I couldn't pass up on the price. For what I do this is perfect. I have noticed that the light bar cord is very fragile and broke on me, so i'm gonna have to fix that. Other than that I love it! Going camping in it tomorrow with my daughter. Video, we'll be up in a few weeks.
@jordanniklas2827 sorry for the delay. Here is what I ordered. It was not easy to mount. I was frustrated mounting it to be honest. That's why I didn't film the process. 1 Rhino Rack Backbone Roof Rack - Jeep Wrangler 4 Door 1 0 1 Rhino-rack Pioneer Platform Tray - 72" Long X 56" Wide 1 0 1 Rhino-rack Rcl Legs For Fixed Mounting Points - Qty 6 1 0 I ordered it from etrailer.com
From the Amazon reviews, the chief complaint is the mounting hardware (brackets/bolts). Does anyone have any recommendations for replacement parts that would be an "upgrade"? I would like to make sure it's securely mounted when driving at highway speeds. Thanks.
My brackets have been pretty good and it's been on my Jeep. Since i've mounted it. My only issue is the light bar cord was really, really fragile and broke on me before I could use it. The company did reach back out to me to help fix it.But I just bought some different lights. Also my ladder hits my Jeep rack. Still trying to figure a solution out.
@andrewleydet3451 I'm 6 foot. I think it will be close. I'm a side sleeper so I feel like I have enough room. 2 people would be the max that I would be comfortable with. My wife is pretty tall and I think it will be great for us
Hi. Enjoyed your video presentation and content. Job well done. Just subscribed to your channel. This looks very similar to the Naturenest tent I’ve been considering. I can’t find the weight of just the tent assembly itself: only the shipping weight. What is the weight, if you know, please?
@LIFTSMITH thank you for the sub! I would just have to guess the weight. I put it on my jeep rack by myself. I wouldn't recommend that. Lol it was a little difficult. I would guess it weighs close to 150 lbs. I was considering the Naturenest as well. I like the price and free shipping of this one.
Alright. I will certainly seek and extra hand to mount it. Thank you for such a quick response. I look forward to watching your other videos as I just discovered you last night while searching for this tent brand review. I’m leaning pretty hard on ordering this tent from Amazon. Though I don’t yet have a rack system to mount it on yet. I drive a 2004 Wrangler LJ. Limited options for roof racks for the LJs. Just got into off road/trail riding about a year ago. It has been a good transition from backpacking/campground camping and my former motor sports over many years ago of Moto-cross in the 70s to car racing in the 80s and go karts in the 90s. Combines the mechanical vehicle world with the hiking/camping world. I’ve spent most of my trail driving in the Daniel Boone National Forest & Red River Gorge area. Thank you again.
@@LIFTSMITH I want to visit that area so bad! And I think Amazon is a safe place to take a chance with things. Easy return policy and good customer service. We'll that has been the case to me so far. Thank you. Will do. My favorite trail recommendation for the Gorge area is the Sinking Creek Trail and a few of the connections trails to it. Good anytime of year but I like it best with the leaves off for increased viewing. Very few on trail camping in the area. But Callie’s Campground is a great base camp area. They have sites from full hookups to primitive sites that are $10 per night. The little store makes burgers and great pizzas if you have a lazy cooking day.
just got mine in and going to install today or tomorrow. question bc i couldn’t find any type of literature that came with it, but what are the 90 degree looking things in the box inside the tent for ? i have that same rhino rack but i also have the roof top tent mounts specific for the rhino rack so not too too worried about the mounting of it bc i just attach those to the bottom of the tent and then throw it up there and they’re already aligned with the slides in the rhino rack !
Just bought this tent and the ladder is also hitting the side of my roof rack so for now hooking it to the rack but thinking of solutions. Let me know if you think of anything.
That's my only complaint so far. Well I also had my cord break on my light bar. I reached out to the company for that and I think they are compensating me for the cord. But I temporarily made a little paracord rope loop that I an attach my ladder hooks to. It does rub a little on my rhino rack still. Which I don't like. I'm thinking of driving it to a welding shop and see what they come up with
@RDOverland I'm not 100% sure. Maybe 100 - 125 lbs? 🤷♂️ I was able to slide it onto my jeep by myself. Not easy but possible. Lol I would recommend two people of possible
