I saw a video with Jello Biafra talking about Wesley Willis, and he said something to the effect of "People will remember WW long after they've forgotten the backstreet boys." I'm glad that is still a true statement!
+TheWickerMan1981 Would have loved to have met Wesley Willis... and especially would have loved to see the Wesley Willis Fiasco! I have a friend who was in Chicago then, lived in a group apartment with Wesley and dated one of the Fiasco band members. They broke up because Wesley was impossible to tour with, his demons "Heartbreaker", "Nervewrecker", and "Meansucker" would come out under stress and create anger and mayhem between him and the band.
+mlbloverock Me 2!! I didn't discover him 'til about early 2000's from Napster during its peak. I just recently found out one of my friends used to party with him and the band. First guy from here ( central CA ) I ever met who knows of him. Seeing Wesley's physique during his performing days, It was apparent his life would be short. He was a brilliant man in certain abilities & skills, yet probably not so bright in regards to diet and nutrition, or possibly it was just a lack of will power to watch his diet. Combine that with touring and it was probably next to impossible for him to eat healthy and do any training. The psych drugs were a major factor in throwing his metabolism off balance as well. These factors were all his fate I suppose, as we can speculate that "If he could have or would have only done this or that ... " But fact is, he never would have! His life was short. He lived through hell at times. Yet he also experienced Ecstasy ( not referring to the pharmaceutical type, lol ) to a level most people could only dream of. So maybe we can say he lived a fulfilling life as well!
Wesley Willis was as punk rock as you can get. His creativity and prolific style was well beyond whatever punk used to be. I miss that dude like a milkshake.
My words to the soul of Wesley Willis: "If JESUS IS THE ANSWER then I am sure that HE LOVES YOU TRULY and that you reside with him now and the demons that tormented you in life are gone from you forever residing in HELL were they belong! Those that knew you LOVE YOU TRULY and solute you 'farewell' with a bump to the head!"
Been listening to Wesley since I was basically a little kid in middle school, around the time he passed. I enjoyed his quirkiness back then, but over the last 20 years, the profundity of his purity and soul as an artist has stood out more and more, and made my appreciation of his music that much deeper. There was never a single speck of bullshit with the guy; he was truly as real and authentic as they come. How many rock musicians can you genuinely say that about? The world lost a real ray of light when Wes died. We should have collectively appreciated him more when he was still around. Thankfully, his intense devotion to recording his endless catalogue of compositions has given us the privilege of enjoying his high-flying rock-&-roll spirit for decades to come (and beyond).
he's up there in god's kingdom. the bible says we gotta wait in the grave, but i sure god picked his best creation to go to heaven early. Wesley is for sure one of those chosen few.
The Wesley Willis Fiasco broke up because Wesley was erratic and unpredictable while trying to tour. His schizophrenia became more intense on the road.
@@machfrju I know he was a chronic schizophrenic who he believed he was possesed by three different demons... no demons without angels, no hell without heaven. Wesley Willis: "I’m doing great. Just been busy and working hard. I’m doing my damn to keep out of trouble. Sometimes that demon give me trouble. That demon give me a hellride by cussing me out with profanity. I ward it off on the bus I used to go in from now on. It used to pick me up in the year 1985 and 1986 and shot down. The demon shot rock music down. The demon sabotage against my music. The demon got me on a treacherous hellride I don’t want to be on. I’m keeping busy, I’m just doing well. I’m not gonna be warded off the joy music bus. I want to go on the trail ride instead of the hellride. I’m keeping busy. I think we have a hellride. Praise the Lord, I’m doing great. The demon make my life terrible. He shoot the whole rock set down."
This is unironically better than the vast majority of Christian music.

As a Christian I agree.
I jam this to praise God :)
And it's actually Christian music non-ironic.

I bought a CD off of him and he shook my hand. After we were both in the men's room and only one of us washed his hands, but I'm not saying which one.
Parking only for Wesley, or his accolades
Say Rau!!!
I miss this man more than words can express.
Let me help you, rock ‘n’ roll, McDonald. You’re welcome.
Wesley Willis was as punk rock as you can get. His creativity and prolific style was well beyond whatever punk used to be. I miss that dude like a milkshake.
Now this is Christian music
I’m glad he gave his life to Christ
Wesley had the greatest sense of humor and it all came from his faith combined with his schizophrenia
Damn I miss Wesley, this is such a banger and should be required at all masses

Yeah, I don’t know about all that
He did WHATEVER he felt like he wanted to do.

Yup, Quickness-era. I hadn't noticed that before, but you're absolutely right.
I hope Wesley is in heaven with no more demons taking him on a hellride
This is so unique
Tell ‘em like it is Jack. It was surreal to be real. 🙏

Wheaties, breakfast of champions.
I miss this dude so much!!!
Say rah, say rawl!!
I just found out about this artist and I must say, I am impressed. No wonder why he catched Rick Rubin's attention back in the day.
Also, doesn't he look like a combination of Daniel Johnston and and Neil deGrasse Tyson?
Jesus is the Answer and the COSMIC DANCER
RIP Willis 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love this man, he brings me so much joy!
Now more than ever
Mitsubishi the word is getting around

Cool
What was the question again?
Is that why he broke the Fiasca Band up ?
The Wesley Willis Fiasco broke up because Wesley was erratic and unpredictable while trying to tour. His schizophrenia became more intense on the road.
is he for real? Did he believe in god?
There are excellent documentaries on TH-cam about Wesley Willis. You can judge how real he was...
@@mlbloverock Let me take a shortcut: Do you believe he believed in god? ; )

@@mlbloverock Thank you for this extensive answer!
