Sleep well Daniel. I’m sure I speak for everyone that has been touched by your art and self. R.I.P dude.
I can't believe I've been a Bright Eyes fan for so long and I never listened to DJ before his passing. The song on this video seems a clear influence on Bright Eyes, so beautiful. I'm sure I'll listen to DJ a lot from now on. He will live forever.
I don't get the hate. Nardwuar being Nardwuar.
there you go - the reason for the hate right there
I guess people can misconstrued Daniel Johnson just being overly nervous what's going on
nardwuar understands when people are a little different and he is very respectful to people like daniel johnson and wesley willis
‘Doot doola doot doo.. Kathmandu’ was the purest and funniest thing of the whole interview. Seriously, one of the best artists to exist in our lifetimes.
It's funny seeing Nardwuar actually nervous. Daniel is such a legend, and we all miss him.
gotta love daniel johnston! respect!
I've watched this video so many times, I can't believe Daniel's gone. He was such a unique musician, I hope he found peace.
5:58 Daniel shows the world why every sane person should love him
Weird choice of word here I think
Blake i agree.
He seems genuinely happy. I am glad that Nardwuar was able to do this for Daniel.
honey, i sure miss you :(
"Hey I did really well with all this loot"
Nardwar was really careful and made sure not to go overboard with DJ. Respect for that. You can tell he genuinely cared and wanted to actually get to know him.
Barely started watching this, and I'm already in tears. The child-like personality of Daniel makes it so, so heart-warming. I'm so sad and sorry for just knowing about him like a moment ago in time, but at the same time, it feels like finding the greatest treasure.
“Hey I did pretty well with all this loot”
I love the care nardwuar puts in this interview, he slowed down a bit to accommodate to Daniel's struggles. And he worked with Daniel so well, and you can tell he really cared for Daniel and wanted to have a genuine conversation after the interview. Daniel Johnston was such a precious person, he may have never made it big time but he'll always have a place in the hearts of his fans. And even inspired Kurt Cobain to an extent. I hope he's resting well, I only discovered his music when his passing made some news coverage, but I've absolutely come to love his music and personality. You are loved and missed Daniel Johnston.
You can really see how Nardwuar respected him. He even interrupted his freeze frame early for him. Rest in Peace Daniel Johnston
R.i.p daniel, we all love you
this was such a wholesome interview. I was introduced to Daniel through his artwork before the music, and he's just a fascinating and talented man. rip
daniel's voice is actually pretty good. emotive but shows a great deal of restraint
“Who are you?”
“I don’t know it’s hard to tell.”
Damn that man was an true artist
this dude is legit like bob dylan but with way more soul
His songs and art are so beautiful. Those lucky customers just browsing comics in the background witnessing a private performance by a legend.
Nardwuar truly is the goat for interviewing this pure soul, his performance was beautiful 6:02
Just found out he passed away. Forever grateful for his time on earth 🙏🏽
ALL THIS LOOT!!! even danny walked away saying "best interview ever"
This video is a great encapsulation of a specific moment in time.
Best Nardawaur interview.... that song is so good. Rip Daniel Johnston.
doot dootle doot doot, Kathmandu
"Got this cool Beatles poster for ya!" *wads up corner in hand...
This live song is so damn real. To the 5 people that go to be there and experience it in person; I hope you still feel it to this day.
This song is unbelievably good. “I played the game / but I failed the test / If I can’t be a lover / I’ll be a pest”
Bro when the comics came out his eyes lit up 😭😭😭
