The venetians should be ashamed for sacking the city and weakening Constantinople. Should never have been allowed to fall to the Muslims.

Well, it is always easy to say that for History. In that period the Venetians had their own problems. And as for İstanbul, Constantinople or nova Roma, what ever you want to call it, to my point of view it has nothing to do with the religion but with ignorance, politics and not appreciate the beauty in front of you, which is also true for the Emperors of Constantinople in that time as they also destroyed everything which came before them.

I also used to think negatively about the Crusaders sacking Constantinople. But that changed 180 degrees in recent years as I researched more and more into the details of what happened. Quite frankly, I'm surprised Constantinople was not sacked in the previous Crusades for their devious treachery.
The lying, backstabbing, and two-faced nature of the Byzantine emperors against the Crusades is absolutely appalling, beyond shocking really. They never kept a promise or bargain, never assisted as they promised not even in the smallest amount. In many ways Saladin was more trustworthy, honest and honorable than the Byzantines. At least Saladin was open and honest about who he was and his motives. I'm quite surprised Constantinople lasted as long as it did.
