  • There are hotels and there are hotels and the Pera Palace (www.perapalace.com) is truly a class above! It is luxurious with wonderful architecture and interiors. But what stands out for Steph and Ollie is the o incredible sense of history which gives the hotel a character and magic that no money can buy,
It is a hotel-museum. First opened in 1895 to welcome visitors from the Orient Express, it has been a witness to some of the greatest figures in modern history, lasting through the reigns of three Ottoman sultans, the fall of the Ottoman Empire, and the rise of the New Turkish Republic - and also contains some incredible mysteries, including one about Agatha Christie, who wrote Murder on the Orient Express there.
Please check out the wonderful Netflix series set at the Pera Palace which involves time travel and going back to the time of Agatha Christie! 'Midnight at the Pera Palace'.
Room 101, exhibiting the traces of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, preserving the splendour of that period with its grandeur and opening its gates to travel in time; can be visited by everyone between 10.00-11.00 and 15.00-16.00 every day at Pera Palace Hotel.
The hotel also has an amazing tea room. And the KUBBELI LOUNGE with the incredible domes features in the Michelin Guide.
    Please see www.perapalace.com.
    With thanks to the wonderful
Barış Atik - Director of Sales & Marketing - Pera Palace Hotel

I went to the Pera Palace Hotel on Friday August 4, 2023 just for the day with my bestie on an excursion I found through a tour and excuse company.
We used the spa facilities, had a hammam and full body massage, had lunch in the restaurant on the patio, went to the Ataturk Museum on the first floor of the hotel and went to the tea time in the hotel and stuffed ourselves with sumptuous pastries and desserts and drank lots of coffee and bottled water while listening to the piano being played

When you mentioned the Pera hotel in one of your recent vlogs, I ended up pretty much binge-watching the series you mentioned that's on Netflix. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this glorious hotel, the fashions of the time *sigh*, and the intriguing time travel!
Thank you for sharing this with us all.

Now I’m thinking….Turkey’s gotta go on my bucket list. I doubt this lovely hotel would fit our budget, but I’m sure they allow the public to visit and see some of their treasures. And the strong connections to Agatha Christie…a British treasure she is for sure. I recently watched the 1979 movie “Agatha,” a fictional account of what happened during the 11 day mystery. It starred Vanessa Redgrave as Agatha and Dustin Hoffman as the incredibly charming and wily journalist, Willie Stanton (who fell in love with Agatha…did she return the amour?) and Timothy Dalton as her estranged husband, Archie Christie. In the movie account, all the “goings on” occurred at a health spa in the Bath, England. But I can certainly see that someone like the famous mystery writer like Agatha Christie would be a regular guest at a such a magnificent and historical hotel like the Pera Palace.
