What a pity... I was in Istanbul (and Top Kapi) in 1980 for the first time and could see MUCH more than you. I visit Top Kapi every time I'm in town....and I have enjoyed. Apparently the great Chinese gifts in old kitchens are not to see anymore. Try again...things are improving and you'll see more. I just LOVE the place. Especially the harem with its bathroom is incredible!
You are a typical westerner. You have to criticise everything that does not fall within your parameters. And you are wrong too. I have seen Topkapi and many many European palaces. Most are actually smaller, and the British ones are smallest, and very drab and dull and hardly any architectural beauty. . They are also full of stuff looted from other countries. As for prices, entry is not at all cheap. I have also seen tons of them perpetually under restoration, with half the places, out of bounds. I saw that at the Louvre, as well as The Tower of London, and Schonbrun Vienna. Besides, who said entry tickets were cheap ? Honestly, get down from your western high horse... 😡.
Well, yours is typical bias. Do you even live in Turkey? Of course not! I am a Turkish citizen and from our perspective, it is as it is. But I understand your motive, you criticize all criticism 😄
It's very beautiful palace and architechtural beauty....!!!
