Mai Pa Narayanan, a veteran writer and journalist, who has moved closely with Karunanidhi, Stalin, Vaiko and other Dravidian leaders and nonbelievers, is now a successful speaker on Alvar (Vishanavite saints) pasurams (sayings). For nearly three decades, Narayanan has been in the political field, interacting with these leaders closely. Since 2006, he turned to spirituality after a visit to an ancient temple in Thanjavur district.
“I am called ‘Alvar’ by Viduthalai Chiruthaigal leader, Thol Thirumalavalan. Similarly, other leaders wish to hear the pasurams of various Alvars. Though I have moved closely with nonbelievers, it is only in delivering discourses that I derive satisfaction,” says Narayanan.
Another hardcore Dravidian leader, Vaiko requests Narayanan to recite pasurams whenever he is stressed. “It is a request from Vaiko to pick up his calls whenever he calls. I generally recite relevant pasurams and speak for a while and Vaiko is happy,” says Narayanan.
Narayanan began his career in DMK’s official newspaper, Murasoli. “Though I joined a newspaper that was owned by rationalists, I never used to compromise on my beliefs. I would sport vermillion on my forehead and none used to object,” says Narayanan.

This gentleman makes too many sweeping statements and quite surprisingly the Author(Chitra) facilitates by asking such dummies like......which you liked most, what you admired most, who was close ...etc etc. Every body knows that hundreds of lensmen and newsmen were/are close to political heavy weights and every one of them has many many recollections to make.
