    Dear Ricky, at first thank you for all the valuable lessons! I bought your book and am working my way through it. Could you please consider doing a couple of videos with easy 10 - 20 minute daily training exercises? I believe it would really help to have a guided practice routine in addition to the stellar lessons you already have provided.
    All the best to you mate!

    Is it only me that is seeing the following: If the lowest root note (by fret numbers not sound) is on the e-string it is an e-shape, if it is on the d-string it is a d-shape and so on. The only exception is that if we have it on the b-string it is a c-shape (but that is only because the b-string always behaves quirky by a semi tone...haha). Think about it.

      @@rickysguitar Looking forward to this. I made a video on my channel where I visualize the pentatonic boxes with Lego and reduce the boxes to a couple simple rules so I can even get rid of the concept of boxes. Feel free to check it out.

    • @WernerNoethe
      @WernerNoethe 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@samb759 That is correct. As I pointed out the only exception is the b string where you play the c shape. The b string acts always funny by a semi tone so semi tone from b is c. There you go.

    Great video man! The visuals are very helpful. Can you please do a next video to this where you combine the major and minor shapes on same frets? It will be great to see a visual of each of these 5 shapes and how the major and minor are combined in every shape.

    • @Enryu_CZX
      @Enryu_CZX 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's actually very simple first learn the relative minor concept.
      A minor scale is the relative minor of C major scale. That means C D E F G A B C
      in case of major you start with C and in case with minor you start with A.
      Shape 1 of A minor pentatonic (E shape) is the same as shape 1 of C major pentatonic (G shape).
      In case of A minor you start on 5th fret forming the E shape scale and in case of C major you start with 8th fret forming the G shape scale.
      try it out Good luck

    Sometimes the technical stuff isn't as exciting as just learning licks but this is really good info. One thing i wondered about is a friend taught me on a 1, 4 , 5 blues progression to play the major scale in what you list as position 2 on the 2 chord and when you go to the 4 chord switch back to minor pentatonic position 1 as they reside on the same fret. It works but I was wondering if there is a way to expand on that or is that just the main "trick"? Also any videos on note choice when soloing and the 5 chord especially as you are only there for 2 bars.. Great video, you make the mundane exciting....

    I think this would help me more if the paper was turned to mimic the way we actually see the instrument. I think I would be able to vision and remember the shapes more that way. Looking at the fretboard horizontally is how we actually see it, I think that would help more, for me anyway, what can I say, I’m a slow learner, but then again I’m just starting out at 61, you know the old saying, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks for what you do.

      We're all self taught in some way or other. It's nothing to do with being dumb. I'm sure you're not. You have gaps and holes in your foundation knowledge so stuff like this has no context. You need to go back to basics. Fill in the holes and when you're ready, look at stuff like this. Don't be so hard on yourself. Have a great Christmas!
