Your couple videos on these drops are the best I’ve seen on TH-cam. Just ordered my parts. Going with CPP, and doing a 5 in drop on back and a 2.5 spindle and 2 in coil on front. Really excited to get the project done. That’d be 4.5 / 5 to start and after settling, maybe add a block spacer to the back. Thanks!
If you have to raise the back, order some 1” lift shackles. They are a little aggravating to get on but they’re the way to go if you need a little in the back
@@gmtim3840 this is great. I was a little concerned on if I go too far in the back because I knew I could drop it with blocks. Will keep that in mind. Thanks! Also….I know there’s probably a ton out there but I’d like to take your advice on not using the drop shocks. Mine are worn, any recommendations on shocks you’d replace with?
What do you do when you get one with the longer springs in the rear? Do you remove some of the springs? Mine has 7 I think? Also what do you think about 3” drop spindles and stock coils cut 1 coil?
I hope that you keep this truck! It's absolutely beautiful! I guess that I like the lowered stance! But 2% looks good either way! Thanks for the video! I really look forward to seeing then buddy!
great video. I was thinking of going 5/6 because I don't like it to be too low in the back but I do want a decent drop. I found a 5/6 kit with 3 inch spindles on ebay.
I'm going to do a 4/6 drop on my 86 c10. Do you have a suggestion on the wheel and tire size for that? I don't want to remove the inner fenders in the engine bay. Also, what about wheel spacers?
You can also end up chasing fender gap. The rear wheel well is smaller than the front and if your trying to get the fender gap to look right the front has to come down some. If you measure from the body line to the fender trim you can really see the difference. As far as camber issue....Moog actually makes an offset upper cross arm shaft. It bolts to the frame but moves the upper control arm out so you can run less shims....and they are cheap! Love the long beds sir!!
I have drop shocks on my truck now. (came with them Rides like crap) I’m gonna take your advice and go 2 inch drop spring in the front and 3 inch drop spindle with stock shocks. My question is what rear spring should I use and what brand of suspension or drop kit you suggest and what brand shocks.
I’m not usually a long bed fan, but that red truck is a keeper. I really liked the green long bed you did a few years back too. I’m doing an IHC 5/7 drop on my 94 OBS. The kit came with the rear shock extenders and the instructions say to throw a weld bead on the extenders once they’re bolted on. What are your thoughts on that?
I’m ordering a 4/6 for my 85 short bed. What’s the difference in the flip kit vs leaf/shackle? I’m going with western chassis didn’t know if one rode better than the other or if it mattered either way?
So im wanting to buy the 4.5/6 drop for my 86 longbed but ive had many people tell that even with a 4/6, they've had rubbing issues. Not sure if they've ised stock or drop shocks. Makes me nervous, lol. Could it also be that coils are weak and lower more than advertised? Thanks in advance
I opted for the beltech 4/6 and did the c-notch too. I don’t know if it’s me getting older but when I hit a bump in the road my truck rides like hammered shit. Seriously thinking about going the airbag route but the fab work and the cost of the kit is astronomical.
If you used lowering shocks, that’s why it’s riding bad. I always use stock shocks on the rear with an extender and just a stock shock up front with no extender. A rough ride is just part of the cost of lowering one but if you run the stock shocks it’s not nearly as bad.
I haven’t had any trouble since I’ve started using the stock shocks. Maybe a little if you’re turning deep but I ya minimal. If you use lowering shocks they will rub pretty badly
@@georgefrancis3767 I usually do but just doing the axle flip doesn’t necessarily require a c-notch as long as you don’t plan on hauling much if anything in the bed. They do fine as long as they’re not loaded
Question- You mention the shackle hitting the bed wood, and that's why you dont use those. What shackles do you suggest? I just did a 2inch drop shackle on my 79 step side and the driver side site 1inch lower lower in the rear. Do you have any suggestions?
They hit a bed brace. There are several different ways to lower the rear, one of course is flipping, the other would be drop shackles and you can also buy lower spring hangers. The shackles will hit the bed braces so the bed braces will require trimming. Not terribly hard either way.
@@gmtim3840 Thanks so much for the response! So I did the drop shackles and did trim the bed brace to make them work. Now my issue is the driver side is an inch lower than the passenger side. @@gmtim3840 hey Sir. I have about a 4/6 drop for my 87 long bed. 2.5in drop spindles and drop coils up front and flip kit in the rear. My problem is that my lower control arms are rubbing my 15in rally rims bad. Do you have any recommendations for up front and/or a better stance/combo I could go with? @@bryanschrift7778 you can grind the arms to gain your clearance. You don’t want to take off anymore than you have to do take a little off and then put the wheel back on and see where you’re at. That would really depend on what you were planning on doing with the truck. You can flip the axle which is 6 inches and be ok. You just can’t really haul anything of any significance in the bed. Another option would be to use lowering leaf spring hangers to lower it which would keep your rear end on the bottom of your springs.
