Love this video! I most definitely need to do this flip kit on my 83! I've got to get my rear down a little lower. I really don't want to pay the money I've been quoted to get a C-Notch.
Chevrolet & GMC half ton & three quarter ton regular cab pickups were the only models in that generation they stopped producing in 1987. All of the rest of the models were produced up through 1991 except for the one ton regular cab pickups because they stopped producing those in 1989.
"They" tell me this also works exactly the same on G-10 vans. I'm fixing to find out! Was debating drop spindles, but if this works fine I'd rather go this way. And if it don't, I'm only out two stock springs...
hey man love the content, on a 255/60/15 would you recommend cutting 2 coils? Want to go a little just a little lower. Btw been watchen for awhile and love the s10 your building for mini nats.
Great job...Question why Monroe up front And belltech nitro at the rear? Also those silver line belltech performance any better...And there was no need for a mini bumpstop..? Safety perhaps. Great budget!
The silver Belltech shocks are more bouncy to me I just prefer the ride of the drop 2s…I got the Monroe’s local I why I run those…I usually run drop 2s front and rear
I followed all directions. Works well. Question how do you orient the u bolts. If one side is angled back versus forward does it matter at all? I had to do this so I had clearness on the nut for the rear shocks.
The flip kit I used had a notch for the left side shock bolt…some kits don’t so you can cut the bolt alittle shorter or buy a bolt short enough to work
Try the Kimball Midwest Torq CB….you will never use WD-40 again…unfortunately for me these things show up from customers the day I’m starting on them so I don’t get a lot of time to soak them
On the rear of this truck was the back tire a 11” wide wheel? I have this same size wheels and am about to do this drop on mine. Looks like I’m gonna have to add 1” spacer in the back so it doesn’t rub on inside of rear fenders on bed. Any help would be awesome!!
I want to do my 85 GMC the same. i want to use all the same Nitro 2 drop shocks. Summit shows 8000 8007 8017. Someone else used 8005 for 2" drop. Which do I need for 3" drop? And what torque spec for U bolts, some people are stripping threads. Thanks, video was great.
I had a 77 square body Silverado short bed I put bell tech spindles and a flip kit for the bank cut two coils off factory springs and 2" blocks it was on the ground I went through two sets of A-Arms it scraped so much the coils pushed out the bottom A-Arms got that thin it ripped up reflectors on the highway when changing lanes other than bottoming out it didn't bounce like heating coils and removing leaf spring
Question for you: I’ve got a 5/7 drop kit from IHC suspension for my 2015 crew cab Silverado. Rear was 7 inches dropped spot on but the front only dropped 3.5 inches. I talked to them about it, email pictures and alignment paper work and they couldn’t find the cause of it. So if I cut the spring coil I guess the truck will lower a bit more right? So the question will be how much do I have to cut the coil to get the 1.5 that I need. Thank you in advance for your help.
So if you watch the Lowered or Lifted video on the white Chevy it was the same way….installed their 5 inch arms and it only went down like 3 inches so we ended up putting drop spindles on it also
Any chance you could take a couple ride height measurements for me? On flat/level ground.....from the ground to the bottom of the frame below the front cab mount...and from the ground to the bottom of the frame at the rear crossmember (by the rear bumper brackets)? I would greatly appreciate it!
shocks for front end? already bought the one you used but want the fron ones.part number that I've got from ebay its 8005. its for a range of 0"-3" drop. you recommend those?

Thanks guys I'll make a video of the process havnt found not one video on TH-cam of one being done planing on just a 3/5 drop nothing crazy low cuz I like big wheels
@pugskreationz it will run slightly on big dips...most of the rub I've experienced tho is when you are turning and hit a dip it will rub on inside of fenderwell not up top
Ok cool, thanks i have air shocks on the rear now and they bottom out,so i purchased the belltech nitro drop 2 but waiting until next weekend to install them
I see you used a Monroe spectrum shocks 37049 for your drop, question if I used a 2”coil spring and a 3” spindle will this shocks works as well for the 5” drop
Did you have to flip the pin for the leaf springs? I got the same Amazon kit but the forward hole doesn’t fit over the pin. Think I’ll be ok if I drill it out a bit?
Man on my obs I just cut a coil and a half out of the front, done a flip kit and notch in the rear with a 1” shackle, new front and rear oe spectrum shocks for a 67 Impala (same lengths as the belltech drop shocks but softer valving) and it rides like absolute garbage. I’m thinking the front and rear are either both riding on or almost on the bump stops. Any recommendations?
Grab some Nitro Drop 2 drop shocks for it….the front that’s a lot of coil to cut on an OBS…I’d say grab some spindles and 1-2inch drop coils and try that
