In 2017 I bought an X6300H, 11.2 channels, second from top of the line, as a factory refurb. My model is known for high pitched squealing when a full 11 channel setup is used with it. Factory refurb techs missed it before I got it. I didn't catch it in the 90 day warranty because I only had 7 channels on it at the time, and it's quiet if you don't use all the channels. Cost me two grand to find out I'm not a Denon guy.
I bought a Denon factory refurb many years ago from an "authorized b-stock seller", and when I got it, it wouldn't power up. When I called them, they claimed that b-stock units were not allowed to be sold to Canada, and I should've never been allowed to buy it in the first place, and not only would they not fix it, they demanded I return it. I laughed at them, and took it apart myself - the board was cracked on one corner, like someone put it down on something sticking through the bottom vents and broke the board. The only 2 tracks that were cracked were for the power button. After I scraped back the solder mask and bridged those traces with some wire soldered across them, it's worked perfectly ever since. Their receivers are ok, but their customer service, and market protectionism is utter BS - would never buy another denon ever again.
Looks good. But I would prefer the old school tuners/amps. Requiring a remote isn't good. If the original remote breaks or gets lost, the device is almost useless. Maybe a universal remote will work, but probably not with all of the functions.
I managed to get a Bose 321 system about a decade ago for $40, complete apart from the base of one speaker stand, reported left channel faulty. Turned out the phono cable they were using between TV and unit had been chewed through by their kitten. No fault on the unit, still using it.
Most of these units you have to have the original remote control, I shopped in a second hand store and bought an expensive stereo receiver for 42 dollars and made sure that I had the original remote control as those functions can't be duplicated on a universal remote, as a matter of fact the original remote control was securely taped to the unit and I was very lucky, other electronic components that I purchased had the original remote controls removed by the customer and I couldn't control all the functions. This is why when you purchase used electronic components always make sure that you have the original remote control otherwise don't buy it.
