Wolf Spiders are among the most dangerous insects in Grounded. Whether you want to hunt them or avoid them knowing where they spawn and where they patrol is critical. In this video I'll show you every wolf spider spawn location and tell you how to unlock the Mithridatism mutation!

As the game keeps getting updated, as we get level 4 and 5 items, wolf spiders will become the new ants
Tarantulas will be the new wolf spiders haha

When you have the mithridatism mutation as well as the brood mother club, they are super easy. Also use the barbarian mutation if you have it.
The one by the cassette tape, if your shoot it from where you’re standing on that rock it can’t get you. Easy kill to get the loot for an early game player (though you need about 40 arrows!) sometimes you’ll lose those arrows under the rock if you don’t kill it quick enough.
They updated them sadly and can now jump!
This new patch changed one of the patrol routes by the tree. I have a base by the tree, it is along the water a bit to the right of the tree. Before the patch never saw one, since the patch, I am in a regular patrol route.
Yeah every day there's at least one near our base and before the update we never saw any.

I don’t know if there is a random wolf spider that just wanders around constantly and never sleeps. But I’ve ran into a wolf spiders in places you wouldn’t expect to run into one. I’ve ran into one over under the hedge. I’ve ran into one by the baseball, one by the lasers, and several other spots I can’t think of at the moment
Yes, I’ve seen this too. I THINK it might be one of the two in the tree that just goes around the map because it went by the first research station then my base by the machine. I killed it and went to the tree the following day and only one was in there.

@@daltonsalisbury9346 I actually followed the one that’s under the porch by the mushrooms one day. And he went into the hedge and went clear to the end by all the orb weavers. So it could have been him that I seen. The one by the baseball I seen I think is the one in the hole under the rake. Because I killed him by the baseball, then went under the rake and he wasn’t there
I had one in the burgl lab, not on the other side of the glass but in the tubing, chasing me through the doors lol
@@travdaddy777 haha yes that happens to me a lot too. often they bug through the ceiling at the entrance, i just saw the legs from it but it scares the shit out of me because i know the spider is near the only entrance. I had one spider behind the glass and got a bit stuck. I tried to shoot at him and i went home to craft arrows to kill him. So i went back to the lab, through the left door before the burgl room and i saw a big wolf spider looking at me. well i dont think he wasnt stuck anymore xD Cant believe they fit though it.
Mithridatism makes fighting wolf spiders a breeze, although I was building my base on the giant rock on the left side of the pond and a wolf spider usually wanders around that area
I made my base on the oak tree awhile ago and I used to be able to just passively lock them out with grass walls but now they keep changing spawns so my mega base has mega spider issues
I’ve had the wolf spider in the pebbles near the flooded area stalk my base under the picnic table before. It was early morning and he was heading to bed so I followed him and that’s where he went back to.
Also the wolf spider underneath the slanted rock, I’ve seen underneath my base. I was building my house, and all of a sudden I see the grass moving. I thought it was a ladybug or one of those beetles. Then he aggro’d on me. Luckily I don’t think he can get up to where my base is at. I’m built on that giant rock next to the pop can. Which is near where that wolf spider spawns. But I didn’t think he would come the whole way up to where I’m at
I built my base right on top of the first science station you find. Ive been ambushed by a pesky wolf spider 3 times now, twice right by my house and once on the mysterious machine. Im trying to figure out which of these bastards it is, he doesnt appear very often but when he does he scares the shit out of me. Seems its either the one under the rake or the one under the wooden plank.
I’ve had 3 wolf spiders one directly after the other come over to the first field station and walls seem to keep them out. Just is a pain to clear an area of grass out to make a base big enough to where the walls keep the spiders out of agro distance
I’ve seen 3 underneath the oak tree before. Also the one under the porch patrols the hedge area also. I followed him the whole way up to the bird bath one day, cause I was curious where he was going

They roam during the day, pop up in ant hills, and sometimes just seem to be behind me out of nowhere. Even had one ontop of the oak root on the right by the soda can.
A wolf spider murked me when I was right next to that machine near spawn. In fact, I've had two run-ins near spawn, both during day for some reason. One right next to the machine with the buttons and the other right outside the mite cave under the faulty laser. I hadn't been anywhere close enough to any of the spawns to warrant it following me home and it was literally within the first few days. I always sleep as soon as it turns 8 so it couldn't even have been one from night time.
Thats where my groups base is as well, im pretty sure the plank one and the action figure one next to him patrol that area as weve had two at our front door before. If you had a three or four story base and shoot him with arrows from the top he’ll run off after a few shots.

So ifyou don't want to encounter one of these, just make a base in the east then? Looks like they pretty much got most of the map covered by Bases and patrol routes

In addition to the ones listed, I've seen six more: (i) one patrolled along the back wall at the hedge, all the way from the corner with the electrical outlet to the far end of that level (under the frisbee), (ii) also near the hedge, around the edge of the flooded lands (including all the way to the base of the bird bath), (iii) patrolling along the top of the stones round the edge of the upper level of the hedge area (when you go through the Ominent door walkway which leads from base of bird bath to the upper bit), (iv) patrolling around the starting machine, (v) patrolling along the top of the stones between the haze and the picnic table, and (vi) patrolling along the grass line at the picnic table (which is beyond the 'under construction' fence). These may just be extended patrol paths for the ones you mentioned -- although the hedge ones are a bit further afield.
There is also one patrolling around the westerly anthill that seems to hunt you down. I ran into a mass ant graveyard because it went into the tunnel and was just wiping out all the ants. It also seems to patrol the area by the 3 stinkbugs near by, Couldn't get them to fight :-(
What I've found is the Shroom and Doom update greatly expanded the Wolf Spider patrol areas. Before the update I never saw one near the Mysterious Machine unless it followed one of us. Now I see one or more near it every day. We have our main base next to it and had to put a fence around the house because we kept getting ambushed when coming out of it, lol. I also saw one near the hedge that I had never seen over that way. The ones you mentioned are included in my list but the patrol paths might be larger than I mentioned.
@@MediocreMilton all the ones I mentioned were pre expansion, but were rare. My main base is by the machine and I've fought off wolf spiders attacking it, but only 3 in 350 game days. I think the AI may have had other problems that were holding them back which got fixed. Now they've been unleashed!
I found a weird way to glitch wolf spiders at the tree where they freeze in place with a trampoline. You need a bow and trampoline. if you use it correctly the minimum arrows you need are 1. Successfully freezing them close enough to you will allow you to pick them back up
Yeah I've found alot of ways to glitch them and get them stuck.
I've killed so many wolfspiders and still haven't unlocked this - probably because I shoot them from range. However I've been stealth attacked by them many times before - so really I should be immune by now :D
As a noob it would be cool to see a wolf spider hunting guide, I so far have not been able to find one.
You basically need ladybug gear and mint mallet with 10 smoothies
I used 10 beefy smoothies to beat the broodmother
Here's what I've been doing, I've made full ladybug gear with a weavile shield and a bee spear. The shield completely negates damage and avoids getting poisoned if you fail a perfect block. The bee spear has a critical hit chance increase and it hits pretty hard. Just learn it's attack patterns and hide behind the shield when it attacks, I've killed 2 using the same shield without repairs, not at the same time of course lol. Bring a few smoothies just incase you get hit and get poisoned.
I've had the one under the toy head be active during the day. Scared the living shit outta me.

At 8:41 I think there are two wolf spiders. I went there for a milk molar and died after killing the first wolf spider to another

I've built many houses, and now I realized that most of them are near a spawn of them XDD
They pass by my Punch-O penthouse base all the time. Just pick them off with crossbow from my balcony. Easy.
They aren't insects, they're arachnids.
I killed more than 5 wolfspiders.. I survived their venom 5 times.. I don't get the mutation.. What's wrong? 😭

My friend has the same problem, i have the mutation and im the host but when my friend looks at his mutations he only has 20 instead of the 22, it looks like the 2 new mutations are bugged for players who arnt the host.
@@ironside9803 yes counted it with my friend.. He's the host he has 22 mutations me just 20..
@@queen_3570 we have tried mutiple ways to try fix the issue, he loads into my game and he has 22 mutations but as soon as he moves the 2 new ones are gone, we have had to resort to starting a new world where he now has all 22 of them.
I dont which wolf spider it is but during the day he sometimes wonders all the way over to yhe mysterious machine and hes walked on it
The update changed the Wolf spider patrols. They seem to be everywhere now, lol.
@@MediocreMilton i was always under the assumptionsthat the triangle between the 3 lasers was a safe zone but not anymore
My first wolf spider kill was right under the yellow leaf on the mysterious machine the spider got stuck under it and I stabbed it to death with the spear haha

@@MediocreMilton yeah that's what I do I've been going to the tree In front of Burg.L and messing with the 2 wolf spiders inside they kill me everytime even using ladybug armor with Liquid rage 2 hits with the poison and I'm dead even blocking the poison Mutation unlocked but glitched on me so I don't have it

Sometimes they get stuck. I had a grass wall and slanted clover roof part on the ground as part of a square 5x5 weevil trap. A ladybug got stuck on one side and then a wolf spider got stuck on the other side just a minute later. Easy mode killing big critters with a bow or a spear this way.
How wolf spiders do you need to kill to get the mutation?

You don't have to kill them, you just have to survive the venom 5 times. I recommend doing with a Friend so they can revive you

@@steve_jackson9933 I got it man, it took more than 5 tho, it was like 7 or 8. And I didnt get poisoned at all I used a bow and high ground

This information is false i got the mutation by getting poisoned
I tested it in Creative where the insects don’t attack you and got it after killing 5 wolf spiders. Maybe you can unlock it both ways?
I died from a wolf spider with poison on me and got it
Because I made sure I was poisoned before killing the wolf spider and I didn't kill it I died and then I got the mutation and then killed the wolf spider
If this is the case then this is the ( possibly) the first mutation that you can get two different ways
