Alynda Lee's song , New San Francisco Bay Blues, incorporates guitar phrases which I associate with a Townes Van Zandt version of Darcy Farrow. Not that there's anything wrong with using fundamentals which many virtuoso guitarists employ. Love it.
She's very little like Patti Smith. Not to mention that 'very young Patti Smith' wasn't even a musician. She was a struggling writer, principally writing poetry. "Horses", "Radio Ethiopia", "Easter" don't sound much like these songs, either. I'd never call her early stuff 'country'/'folk'. She reminds me much more of someone like Gillian Welch, a bit of A.A. Bondy, or Coralee.
