WOW Renee, Those Journals are the best. I love the old scripts. I can look at it for hours. So beautiful. I’m sure you will find great info for yourself. Bravo on the “tip” for Mary. ✒📖 💝

Never could get into it and I have no desire to attempt to watch an episode or two. I'd rather watch some cartoons from the 80s or 90s haha. I have a very high standard for TV shows! :0)
I have most of the FP little people that went to all the playhouses, airport, western town, farm, etc. They are in very good condition. I'm hoping my granddaughter who is almost 2 will eventually play with them.
When my dad passed away I was 11 and I went with my mom and I paid $199 from sears for the headstone and foundation. They were divorced and it was my savings so I wanted my dad to have a stone. That was many years ago.
@@antoinettesmart7109 I'm 56 & I am so fortunate that my parents are both still alive & well. But my Dad's Dad died when he was 15; my Mom's Dad died when she was 12. They miss their fathers to this day (even though they would be 122 & 118, respectively). I don't think the length of time is the main factor when you're a kid - the bonds are so deep and central. Thanks for sharing your story. I bet your Dad died knowing he had brought a remarkable person into the world (with your Mom, of course) - and I think that's the greatest gift a child can give a parent. Sorry, didn't mean to get so deep. 😀
Those ledgers have so much interesting information in them! Some history museums and libraries are able to preserve them for research purposes. The one from the funeral home, for instance, would be very useful for someone doing graduate or even doctoral work for a business or other degree. The day to day spending, the cost of items, even the what was purchased that changed over the years can be illuminating. Were funerals more expensive or less so than today, taking into account inflation, average income of people at the time, etc. Someone out there would love to study those!
❤ What a lovely stash of gifts and treasures. You've got today! So nice of you to get the sesame street figures for your friend. She will love them. I just know it.!❤
Very interesting! Great to hear you are thinking of your esthetician! I really don't think you need one but who am I to know! Any more auctions or hoarder house coming up?
Some pretty nice finds at the flea market. I like the early 20th century ledgers; the Bergen County Motorcycle Club ledger from NJ would have been a great source for one ore even more "History Behind The Paper" stories, but 150,- bucks...nope ! 😉 Have a wonderful, sunny and stressless weekend, Renée ! 🌤 Greets from GER, U. P.S. What, you can´t stand "Friends" ?! I know a certain person who loves this show ! And no, it´s not me !! 😅
I never got into watching it. Years ago, my friend had a little get-together sleepover at her house and when another guest asked what we should do, it was decided on to have a Friends marathon. I never fell asleep faster in my life! Haha. I'm going to take a better look at the ledgers today to determine exactly what a few are from. Need my magnifying glass and good light to do some letter deciphering! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Those old ledgers remind me if the large collection of International Order of Odd Fellows meeting minute records I went through when I was a member...the oldest ones harked back to the 1890s! They, like the pile you were exploring, were large and HEAVY! The most interesting ones were from the 1906-08 period, the earthquake and fire and the following years during the restoration of the city (San Francisco)! The penmanship in many of these period pieces of history was beautifully done by the Lodge secretaries...today a lost art! Those boxes of DVDs looked like ones I saw at one of my Sal. Army stores recently...owners are dumping them, due to streaming capabilities! Documentaries and historical DVDs are what I look for...I'm not really a movie buff, except 1950s Sci Fi stuff, and I have most of these. Those peppers look great...another belt buckle. The Bechtel one you sent me looks great, mounted in a shadow box frame, I almost bought another company buckle from 1990...but the seller wanted $30, and would not negotiate...left that one...and it was the last day of his garage sale...my take was he really did not want to part with it! I have seen those plastic characters in my travels.
Perhaps you'll come across a similar belt buckle at the thrift shop for a fraction of the price! I do find that happens sometimes, you can't pay a certain price and so some time later, the same thing magically appears somewhere else and at a great price! The ledgers sound wonderful. As you said, not only a history of meetings but also a history of all of the events that had occurred during that time!
Hey Renee. I am happy you found three characters from sesame street. The ledger's might be from a bank. But the other from a funeral ⚱️ home. What a great day for a Flea Market. God Bless you Renee. Take care. Mari'a.👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗⚱️⚱️💙💚🌈🌈🌈🌈
It's always more exciting when a good ephemera deal turns out to be even better than you thought! And the motorcycle ledger/scrapbook was very overpriced, unless he gets a wealthy motorcycle club member from Bergen county to stop by.
I have a feeling those ledgers are going to be pretty interesting. I added up the costs for the funeral that I could see (headstone, foundation, flowers, stone vault & service - about $270 in 1926). Converted to the 2023 dollar value, those things would have cost ~$4,600. I'm sorry that motorcycle club journal was so expensive. I was enjoying reading the one page about the weinie roast committee (to be held at Bear Mountain, which I think is near Lynchburg, VA), the settling of the camera purchase, and the misuse of the piano causing them to need a new one (must have been a heinous piano incident). Jesus and hot dogs seem to run through your adventures). You friend will be so happy about those people. Dad joke about the Count from Sesame Street: -- "Who's your favorite vampire? -- "The Count from Sesame Street." -- "He doesn't count." -- "I assure you he does." Was a bust round here this weekend for estate sales. I went to one where they had used tools priced higher than retail. A little cooler though. Have a great Saturday afternoon & Sunday.
$4,600 then was a high cost, but I would think that a stone, foundation, flowers, etc. would cost a little bit more than half today. (Now my brain is starting to think about the price increases in the funeral industry and what they base those increases on...) $125 was too steep for me on that ledger. Being as it was for a Motorcycle Club, I do see the value in having a higher cost, because how often does one find a ledger for that kind of club? Perhaps there is someone out there that buys motorcycle ephemera or is from that town/has a personal connection to it, as those are the only ones that I could see spending that price. To buy it for reselling, you would have to know someone that would pay up for it. To buy it for historical/research purposes, a little wiggle room on the price would have been good. Glad I found those other ledgers first and for such a good price! The heat has broken here, another morning of 60 degrees which makes me feel like fall will be here shortly! Hope you have a great Sunday and enjoy some last-minute relaxing before another work week!

I've addressed this previously, but here are the reasons: 1. As a female, a chest mount can be restrictive, especially during colder months when I wear several layers. 2. Point of view. I am constantly moving, bending over, digging in boxes, looking at items on the ground, etc. Wearing a chest mount is okay if items are consistently on a table and you bring things up to the camera view. Digging in a tote, I'd rather hold the camera and bring the camera towards the object versus having to constantly position my torso so that my camera angle is always pointed at what I'm looking at. 3. Editing. Wearing a chest mount adds so much unnecessary movement that would need to be edited out. I am prone to motion sickness and have very low tolerance for jerky/sudden/constant camera movement, so wearing a chest mount adds to movement (having to position the camera angle to show what I'm looking at, quick movement of my torso to turn to look at something else, etc.). This movement would need to be edited out, but I actually get sick from watching this sudden movement, so no using any footage like that.
