I'd install turbo when you do an oil change, so either 5w-30 or 0w-30, owners preference. I'm just curious if he had aftermarket head studs or not. Couldn't imagine he wouldn't lift the head running e30 on rv6 turbo. The heavier weight of the oil is going to create a better film on the journal bearing of the turbocharger, since it's small and creates lots of CFM/PSI it puts a lot of stress on the journal therefore the film is going to better protect the journal from having low viscosity or a thin film at any given moment.
