    One of the best interviews I've seen of yours yet.
    Great guy and liked how he could walk you through the collection and talk about the pros and cons of each bike.
    Brought a smile to my face when he said he used to own Moto Guzzis. As a fellow Aussie that's been obsessed with V7s and Californias for decades it's always great to come across someone that appreciates such a niche marque with a great history.

    I am this guy, I am Australian, I have ridden bikes all my life, he is right Australia is a great country but its boring , especially when your older. I had been livng in the Philippines for years before Covid and now just returned as Mark has done, I used to enjoy big bikes in Australia but now I prefer enduros especially here. I have been telling people for years how great the lifestyle is here, Marks 500 is my type of bike

    Great interview; I'm living in Australia and I agree with Mark there... one of the best country in the world , full of opportunities but... if you are approaching even 50... game over: dating life is way over😁. Guys and Gals realize you will not be going over 80km per hour in the Philippines. 4 lane concrete highway in the countryside , well, that right lane? Yeah, there is a sleeping dog or a farmer drying rice on it . Those wild two lane roads going up the volcano, yep, just around the bed a car parked in the road. Not to mention the many trikes, big slow trucks, etc. It’s not Australia, not The US. The best feature about a motorcycle here is fast acceleration for passing. That’s about it .

    I own NMax V2 now and I modified it to 230cc (more torque and top speed) and I LOVE IT. I’ve owned Earox in past and it’s not comfortable on long ride and also during pandemic I bought blindly Xmax (it’s a big bike) and it was too high for me as my foot was never flat (my height 176cm) it’s just wasn’t safe imo especially due to my driveway is tiled in slippery tiles and when it rained I almost drop it few times.
    My personal opinion after test driving all Honda and Yamaha motorcycles that NMax is the best.
    P.S. I also own a car because there are times when I travel with my girlfriend and her family and we are more than three

    It all depends apon your skill level what motorcycle will be best for you . A twist and go scooter with no clutch could be plenty for around town or in the city . If you plan on using the expressway, you will need 400 cc or bigger to be on it . If you are in the province you may want more of an adventure style motorcycle that can handle multiple surfaces to ride on . I personally like the XR 150L Honda because it is very comfortable and simple to maintain. It can handle fairly deep water with the intake and exhaust up high . Light weight and a nearly 3 gallon tank that can go for quite some distance.

      Pocket rockets are, or were generally 400cc fours, CBR, GSXR, NSR etc, and I have owned many. These are mopeds, and as interesting as watching paint dry. However, reliable, easy and cheap to maintain runabouts, yes of course.

I say, that I have seen more of the Philippines than most Filipinos. As me and my bike get older, I tend to drive a little slower now. When I go on rides with my friends with the big H-D, I definitely have to pedal a little faster to keep up. I like that last bike in the background that you never showed off. More traditional style. The Kawasaki Vulcan 650 is a real rocket. More important than speed here in the Philippines is good safe braking. ABS. Anyway, I enjoyed the video

    as a local myself, here's our horn etiquette: 2 beeps means asking to pass through. 1 beep is a reply good to go. 3 beeps to "nope you can't", also a "respectful" warning honk to those who wanna merge the main road and when you're on a trucker's blind spot. long honk is your usual "wtf".
    some smug raider/sniper riders are quite cocky, they'll race you if they see you on 400cc's just saying.
    if you're a bike junkie, I suggest you stay in bigger main islands like luzon or mindanao. you can do bigger loops here. btw that bristol there is the real head turner hands. up.

    That power posts on the extension road is the result of bureaucracy.
    The DPWH take cares of the road but the electric posts are either under local power distribution or multi regional like MERALCO.
    The DPWH road contractors are not allowed to touch those posts and they are happy about it.
    The power distribution companies will take their time in transferring their posts. Since it will require money for them to move and unless they are forced to do so expect that they’ll be there until the end-of time.

    Purchasing an ADV 160 to travel Southern Luzon. Owners manual says 291 pounds for load capacity. You mentioned yourself and your wife on your 150, do you have any issues with load capacity? I am 215 pounds by myself, but wife will be with me as well.

    Life is short especially when you're on you're 50's. How much years do think you got left. I wouldn't short change myself. if I ever go get a bike again it would be a Ducati. My last bike was a Moto Guzzi 1100cc. Or worse case scenario a BMW R nine t.

    Do you sometime wish that you had a significant other to share your adventures with? I am planning to come to the PH next month, via Singapore. I know myself, and worry about feeling lonely. I'm wondering if others experience this as well? It sounds like I can meet plenty of English speaking ex-pats (US, California), but that can only get you so far..

    Awesome Video. Ive been riding since 1971. Mostly dirt. Ride a 2007 Ktm 525 exc now for serious offroad yet sort of street legal. Like you mention of all the things to hit. Think a Yamaha WR 450 might do good at turning some of the obstacles into. Jumps instead of getting potential road rash. : ) Have seen a company thatt does off road tours with the WR/YZ 450.

      I plan to get a KTM when I move to the Philippines. I have lived in the provinces there were there are lots of dirt roads. When it rains some of them are mud pits. Only that big bike would be doable. Those bikes with the traditional shocks on the rear are very uncomfortable to me. I love the power of the KTM. have driven the WR 450. Its a great bike. That is a possibility too. Yet, KTM makes a very light bike.

    • @jerrygrover6286
      @jerrygrover6286 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@puppyupper4565 Not sure about getting parts for a KTM. That could make the WR a better choice. Good to know there is tough riding in the Phillipines making getting good woods racing bike a good purchase. Still put a plate on it for some street riding. There is a company in the Phillipines that does offroad tours. Multiday? Not sure but they do multi islands, river crossings etc. 150.00 per day. WR 450 is one of the bike choices. Would not be my choice to ride a gay scooter with knobbys into the mud bogs. LOL

    • @puppyupper4565
      @puppyupper4565 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jerrygrover6286 I am not sure on the parts thing either. I have ridden the WR and it is a fantastic bike. Lots of instant power. I am waiting for the Philippines to open up to non-vaxers. Though I would take the Novavax if it ever gets approved in the US.

    • @jerrygrover6286

      As of now!.. Still not getting no jab. Seems outdoors still need to wear mask? Claimed that may change 4th quarter of 22. I mentioned that offroad company chooses the Yamaha. So guessing no parts issue. What KTM you thinking about. Them 300 2 strokes a #1 choice for hard enduro riding. Light weight for attempting to go impossible places. Riding up walls and boulder hoping. Like my 525 exc for putting all the power to the ground from idle speeds on up. Turns like on rails also. :-)

      @@jerrygrover6286 The KTM 450XCF-W. But learning from experiences of others in a foreign country is a good thing. I may do the Yamaha. I really did like it. Its just quite a bit heavier. I have not ridden the KTM.
