- How’s it going everyone? Back today with another one. This time, we’ll be looking at 10 bands’ discographies that I will NEVER complete for one reason or another, whether it be a lurking turd, or a mediocre mid era, I’ll be covering it all! Enjoy y’all!

Really cool topic for a vid I think darkthrone would be that for me lot of later albums I just don’t care about owning
The Emperor one blew my mind. I think they have 4 amazing albums.
Someone in the comments finally mentioned iron maiden. Nothing after brave new world is necessary; and possibly a few snooze fests before brave new world, too.
Nothing is necessary unless you're a fan. I will say I can still list some songs on those post-Brave New World albums that would get into or challenge for a place in my own favourite top 20 Iron Maiden songs.
Paschendale, These Colours Don't Run, El Dorado, The Great Unknown, Writing on the Wall, Darkest Hour.
Some people might get bored with a band but it doesn't mean they've lost it. I'd put up the songs I've listed alongside even Hallowed Be Thy Name, The Trooper, Wasted Years, Run to the Hills, Phantom of the Opera and any other songs you might care to mention from their first seven albums.

Cool selection and choices! Didn't share your opinion about Morbid Angel but they are as well a band I will never buy all albums.
Nunslaughter, Sabbat and Abigail. All got releases that I absolutely love but can’t be arsed and too many other great bands to listen to for me to have the will power to complete their Discography’s
Matt mate if you have never tried to listen to Belus by Burzum i would recommend you do so asap it is one of his best albums if not the best, it is criminally underrated and a perfect example of what is now being heralded as solar metal ie bright shining dazzling truth held to the light .
Can't argue with your picks kinda hard not to fall off a lot of these bands discography at some point. 🍻
Entombed. There is atleast 2 albums of theirs that I don’t ever gonna need in my collection.
A lot of older bands are on autopilot at this point.
If i love a band enough, then i am definitely guilty of completing discographys even if i hate a couple of albums. Can't bring myself to complete Darkthrone though just because of the sheer quantity of poor albums. The unholy trinity is all i need from them
@@martinnapier6286 That’s fair enough, I definitely have some mediocre albums in my collection through doing that, but I wouldn’t say I have any quite as stinky as Load or any of Metallica’s other junk
I think with most classic bands, as long as you start from the beginning and get the first four, that's all you need. @@Altars_of_Mattness
When It comes to the later Emperor Releases, I only Recommend Prometheus & IX Equilibrium to the People who are interested In Ihsshn's Solo Stuff, because that's where he was headed after those 2 Releases.
When I first seen the video title, I thought of the various potential reasons of why you might not complete a band’s discography.
Besides disliking the record, Maybe the price of a particular album seems unattainable or the records out of print from a band that’s broken up and re prints look to be out of the question.
My first thought was Overkill due to the amount of albums or any 80s band who had a shit run in the 90s or later. My exception to this rule is Slayer. Too important to me and I don’t care.
I recommend you to play Burzum's Sol Austan Mani Vestan when you go to the grocery store. It's the most relaxing thing ever
Anthens to the Welkin at Dusk Is Emperor's Magnum Opus for me.
I pretty much agree with all except Darkthrone, they can do no wrong in my eyes, I love the progression (or regression some might say) into more punky/crust and more recently doom and traditional metal.

At least with Darkthrone not every Album sounds the same, unlike some Bands.

Very interesting take on this video, seeing the title I assumed it was going to be bands where an album was out of print, rights were lost etc.
The comeback album for Cryptopsy with lord worm was Once was not

You should check out Fallen and Belus by Burzum, great albums. All those plingplong albums are shit, so no need for those. Agree on Darkthrone, stopped buying them years ago, but still managed to buy a couple of turds. Great video Matt. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Great video. Reiterating the Occam's razor, it's easier to talk about the bands which deserve having all their albums
I would also include Mayhem here to be frank. There are some weird stinkers in their disco.
I'm on board with Morbid Angel up until the 'Formulas Fatal to the Flesh' album, which I found to be quite good as a whole.... straight downhill from there, though, with 'Illud Divinum Insanus' being one of the most disappointing albums of all time in my world, right up there with 'Cold Lake' by Celtic Frost.. .💩
Agree about Swansong I hate that record.The only bathory I think blows is Octagon (Destroyer of Worlds isnt great either but not shit) so have no plans to get those. The last good Cryptopsy totally is non so vile, boring and shitty after that. The Cult Is Alive is the last darkthrone I like and I hated the albums after Total Death until like 6 months ago. The punk and doom stuff is super lame,and if it wasnt darkthrone nobody would care about those records.

Me: In Flames. I actually have Carcass' entire discography and love it all. Swansong was a big "fuck you" to their record label at the time.

I'd agree with the Cryptopsy take if it was not for the most recent album, pretty good IMO. Possible bias as I saw them live just after release and they were great.

Completely agree with your opinion about the Bathory vocals, even though many will see it as a hot take. There are a couple of bands where I like certain releases but didn't even bother starting a collection due to way to many releases in way to little time, for example Trhä, Kalmankantaja, Drowning The Light or Sadness.
Interesting idea Matt! I'm really good at not completing band's discographies! I just buy stuff from a certain band and not pick anything else up for years later haha! I have most of the Carcass albums, minus the debut and Swansong. However, I wouldn't mind having both as I really love the band. I agree, Torn Arteries isn't as good as Surgical Steel or Heartwork. I have almost everything by Metallica, except for the latest one, and I don't know if I will ever get it.
Never listened to Cannabis Corpse or Cryptopsy, so I can't say anything about them. I've only heard 2 albums by Bathory, the one you showed and Blood Fire Death. Honestly I don't like the Viking songs on those albums, so I'm fine to stick with the first 4 albums. Quite new to Darkthrone and Decapitated, I've only heard a few albums from each. I'm still impartial to trying their later albums. I only know the first 4 Morbid Angel albums, after that it's a toss up for me. I've heard the Steve Tucker albums are decent.
A couple of mine are Slayer (Diabolus), Megadeth (Risk), Sepultura (Roots), AC/DC (too many albums) and Machine Head (Catharsis). Cheers man! 😁🤘🏻
I went through every Burzum album and I immediately regretted it lol. Very wise decision to opt out of that.
Also, put some 'spect on Swansongs name!!!
I agreed with most of your choices Matt. However I've got all of the Carcass and Metallica studio albums, they're the only two I do have them all and I think its because I jumped on both in the late 80s/early 90s, I just kept on getting their albums over the years and they became almost an auto-buy when they put a new one out. I agree though that 'Swansong' is Carcass' worst, not sure what they were trying to do exactly on that record. It's like half proper Carcass, half Bon Jovi 😂
Have you heard the new project Fenriz is doing Coffin Storm? He does vocals on it, it’s a doozy

New Cryptopsy was finaly Worth it for me..
I have NO idea why you don't like those Bathory albums, BUT...this is exactly how I personally feel about Ulver and Anathema who went WAY out of line after their first few albums. Especially Anathema. I mean really, fuck them. I was so incredulous when I looked them up that I thought Tidal was showing me another band called Anathema. It's such a branding betrayal that it makes me angry. If you want to do different music please go ahead, but change the name for the sake of fans. Advertise that this new band is from ex-Anathema members if you want. Serenades or GTFO.
They've been an alternative/soft rock band for way more albums then they ever were doom/death.

I fully get the Burzum take. I actually enjoy the later stuff more than Det Som Engang Var. The other early stuff cannot be topped though. Nice vid 👌
What about Gateways? It’s slower more doomy Morbid Angel but evil sounding.
Gateway is their last masterpiece. All garbage from there on

Metallica I agree although I do like everything up to and including Re-Load and nothing after apart from the odd song.
Entombed I'd have - I like the early death and death n roll up to Same Difference but nothing after that.
Another obvious one Iron Maiden - everything up to 7th Son is great and then pretty poor after.
Annihilator - the first 2 albums are excellent and then nothing much after.
I agree with Morbid Angel but for me Altars of Madness is one of my favourite albums and I saw them tour it when it came out, but anything else you can keep.
I can't think if you've done this before but why not do the opposite to this (sort of) and do bands with the best discographies.

I thought the same with Decapitated, I tappedd out with Organic Hallucinosis and never bothered for years. I ended up revisiting them and buying the rest. But the first two is where it's at.

Some selections 100 same opinion (Metallica, Cannabis Corpse ...), some I actually like but understand your perspective as music is different so accept fact it lost you (Emperor, Cryptopsy, Carcass, Bathory). On Decapitated must correct you man they didnt change vocalist. There was terrible accident where Conan was very badly injured in same accident in which Vitek died.
You'll listen to the Black album, but not Swansong? I've heard enough. No need to return to this channel.
