    We are excited to be testing out the new Baja Boss All-Terrain tyre from Mickey Thompson. Mickey Thompson tyres are known the world over for their superior performance in the off-road segment. Having won multiple Dakar, Rally plus many more off-road championships, we are thrilled to be putting these on our test Ranger Raptor for the next 10,000km or maybe more!
    They look awesome! Super aggressive for an All-Terrain so lets see how they go. We'll keep you updated on the journey of these tyres over on our socials otherwise tune in for the 10,000km review.

    I’ve got these on my 4wd. By far the greatest AT on the market. They work great on the beach, in the mud, on grass, on gravel and on wet and dry bitumen. Very quiet too. Can’t hear the big knobs on the bitumen at all.
    2 weeks ago while driving home on a wet road, a kid in his bike jumped out in the middle of my lane while I was doing about 60kph. I slammed on the brakes and jerked the wheel to the right to miss the kid. To my astonishment, I missed the kid and I didn’t over steer or under steer. These tyres saved the kids life. If I had the KO2 or KM2 I had previously, it would have ended very differently.
    Getting the size you want is a problem. I waited 6 months for the 255/85/17 and gave up waiting. I ended up getting 295/70/17.

    Just ordered a set of thr ATs. Expensive but buy once, cry once. You get what you pay for.
    Edit: I've had them on for about 1 1/2 weeks now. Have not had the chance to go off road yet. On road they've been very quiet for a very aggressive A/T tire no road noise above my 2017 Ford F250 6.7 liter diesel. We did get a mad downpour last week and I was driving home to a furious rain storm so I experienced them rolling through water puddles and ponding. The widely spaced tread blocks allowed water to pour out so I didn't feel any hydroplaning--- but then I also didn't drive like an idiot either. The tread looks like it will churn through dirt and gravel and as winter comes will easily crush snow. I plan to go doen to Monument Valley in a few months and drive through the dirt tracks as I haven't been back in 12 years. I have the fullest confidence that I will be well served by the Mickeys.

    I put these on my '23 luxury SUV. They're relatively quiet for such an aggressive A/T. I get more comfort knowing my vehicle has one of (if not THE) best A/T tire on the market. Price? Was about $1800 for four 22" tires. Probably the most expensive (non-sports car) tires I have purchased, but on a six-figure SUV, don't want to cut corners.

    Good video guys! I am quite interested in these after having an excellent run with the ATZ P3, bulletproof tyre although very noisey. What does concern me is the weight. These are significantly heavier (66lbs) than the old P3 (56lbs) and heavier than the Toyo RT (59lbs). That’s a whole 10lbs heavier than the old P3 in a 285/75R16 !

    • @TyreReviewVideos
      @TyreReviewVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you're spot on. Since popping these on my bus, the fuel efficiency has dropped, which will be the weight. I've come from a mid-weight AT, so probably would have been the most marked difference there could have been with the tyres I run. It comes down to the intended purpose, and whether you need something that's as tough as nails like this one, or whether you can step back a notch. That said, I reckon this tyre should be significantly quieter over its life, given that it's got about 17 years of development on the ATZ P3, so that aspect will be better 👍

    My two trucks, 3rd gen tacoma and 2000 f-150 v6 manual are both pretty weak on the power, and they do well with SL tires. I'm offroad driving on lava rocks 60% of the time and have enver popped a tires. I think it comes more to the driver not being an idiot and looking at everything his tires are rolling over and picking proper lines and speed. I'd love to run the load E's but my trucks are wimps and gas is expensive.

      Really depends on the bus you're looking at running them on, and what you'll be doing with them. Keep in mind that the Wildpeak is theoretically a very tough 2 ply sidewall tyre, while the other two are 3 ply. The Baja Boss AT is actually better on wet roads than the X-AT, but I'll be curious to see how it wears, as the X-AT wore really well. It's a toss up!

    • @TyreReviewVideos
      @TyreReviewVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right that once you wore past the sipes they wouldn't do anything, but that's actually not too far off the full tread block depth on some of the BBAT sizes. They range between 16/32 and 18.5/32, so you'd only have a maximum of 3/32 left when you've worn past them. I think they helped save my bacon recently, which I'll go into in more depth in the long term review 💪
