We moved into our house 12 years ago. There is a PC2500RK in our garage. We never knew a code so we have not done anything with it. I learned how to stop the beeping. The trouble light is on and when I check it, it shows light 1 and 6. It cannot be connected to a telephone wire, as we have no home phone (disconnected years ago). This video was a great help. My keypad at the front door has the PGM terminal connected to a recessed door contact. How do I program this? It used to beep whenever the door was opened. I turned on the bell icon but that didn't work.
Hi, did you do the video how to reprogram for all the doors and windows? I reset as per your video( thanks for the video) but now nothing is triggering the alarm or chime. Could you help please?
Hi Great video and helpful. My unit has the trouble light turned on from the panel and making beeping noise all the time now. Can you show me to to get rid of it? I have a DSC system but very old, I installed back in 2000. I hope that you can help. Thanks
Hi Chinh! This trouble can be a lot of thing. I plan to do a super ''how to'' video about every proble you can have. Howerver, it wont be available before few monts. And it's very hard to explain like that with a keyboard. Good luck! 😉
Hi, have a system with 3 DSC PK5501 pads. They are starting to look unattractive. Cover broken etc. I have 3 new PK5500 pads. What do I have to do to replace the old pads with PK5500 units. I have 14 locations. All seem to work properly. Thanks
Thanks for the quick reply. I know the installer code so I should be good to go. I'm replacing the PK5501s with PK5500s. Is there anything that I need to do that is not reflected in the video you directed me to? Or everything should work fine? Thanks so much. Your videos are excellent!! @@HowToPM
I replaced one of three keypads. Initially, it went well. Got into the new pad via *8 5555, then 000 0 # Yellow triangle stayed on. Now I can't get the pad to respond. Had a big power outage and now both panels on my DSC system are off except “trouble” light. I disconnected battery and power to main board for 24 hours also installed new 16v power module for main board, but panels still blank and just beep. Will this reset correct this issue without losing all of my zones and settings? I have 16 zones. Thanks for any help, I’m at a loss.
If you are not familiar to program a DSC pannel, you don't want to reset it. However the issue you have really look like a power short or a power issue.
Thank you for the reply. I do not know how to program. I changed the power module from the outlet and I disconnected the battery as well. I am getting 17v at the board screw terminals. Anything you can think I can check for power short? Should I swap new PC5015 board or newer or does that require programming too? Very strange both panels I have are doing same thing. Thank you!

@@HowToPM I got the same problem! The panel shows that doors are open! I disconnect the battery and AC wire. I'll go back to it tomorrow to connect it back and check the result. Thanks for your videos.
@@mikemarjany74 ... You probably already figured it out. But keep in mind, when you default the panel back to factory default. If you have no resisters in the panel. That's why everything is open. Factory reset, panel wants to see the resisters that come with the panel. I forget, I think the resisters are 4.7 K. But I could be wrong on the value of the resisters. Go to location 13, If 1 is off, it's looking for resisters. If no resisters, turn 1 on.
You need to reprogram everything. Some alarm system skill are required, or a lot of patience and tutorials video and/or installer manual. I will eventually take the time to make a complete video about programming this alarm system.
My problem is different. My PK5100 says OPEN, 2, 4, 5, 6 and BYPASS, which is correct (new windows and back doors removed sensors). However, the green check will not light as before and I can't activate zone 1 and 3 alarm anymore. I was previously having success with *1, 02, 04, 05, 06, # to bypass open zones. Any advice?
Arm and disarm the system, you should be good then. There is the reset button also on the keypad (3 arrows in circle). Don't do the reset from that video.
It must be fully off. Power supply and battery. But watch out. I realize that some regular user do it and should not. I made that video for alarm technician. I mean, if you de reset it, you will have to reprogram it. And this is not an easy task when you don't have a bit of experience in it. I will eventually do a video about how to program it.

Hi, We have a DSC Power Series PC1832 and followed the instructions, but now nothing will turn back on or power up. The keypads and motion sensors are completely dead. Any ideas why? Thank you.
@@HowToPM We definitely reconnected the power and everything back to how it originally was. Will the 1832 system work without the backup battery? Even though we didn't have codes, it disappointing now after doing this that the sensors and keypads don't work. Thanks for any help.
How To I followed the same process. I’m using dsc 1616 and the panel is 5501. Currently the panel is locked (red) with warning (time not set). I short PGM1 and Z1. After 60 seconds. After typing *8 5555, it is not entering the programs mode. Do you have idea on this?
PC 1616 model connected into the telephone line without dialer is working, but the problem, once the device is dialing in the number registered, the device has not stopped dialing even the system is disarmed. Can you please help us. Or there is any way can set the device can dial upto 2 to 3 times only
Hello Abner? In fact the phone number you program must be related to a receiver (generally an alarm system company). The receiver confirms to your panel that the alarm has been received. If your PC1616 do not receive confirmation from the receiver, it won't stop communicate with the number until he gets the confirmation. There is alternate device who may send you SMS. I have forgotten the model number, I'll let you know once I'll be back at the office next year. Happy holiday! :)
Installer field 301 scroll to the first digit enter *66666...….until it only reads DFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, this will clear the phone number. You can also go to installer field 380 and press 1 to turn 1 OFF, which is communications. # to exit. You can also program a phone number into field 301 such as a pager or cellphone, program 350 as 05 (pager.) You have to punch in the correct response on your phone otherwise the alarm panel will hang up & call you back again, & again, & again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again, &again,
Ahah!! Hi George, of course I can explain. The 3G3070 is not the alarm panel, it is the cellular communicator. Follow the cable that is pluged into it it should lead you to the alarm system. Should be a bigger box in the same color. But watch out, after reset it, you will have to reprogram your alarm system and I did'nt yet did that video. Happy new year!
Not sure if you still monitor these comments, but wondering if you (or any other viewers) have any help/insight for me. Followed your exact process (for reference, I did have a wire already using the Z1 port, so I did the following: 1) remove cables from battery terminals, 2) disconnected/removed first AC wire, 3) disconnected/removed wire from Z1 port, 4) inserted single jumper cable ends into PGM1 & Z1 ports, 5) reinserted AC wire and waited for 10+ seconds, 6) removed AC wire, then reconnected every wire in reverse order [removed jumper cable from PGM1 and Z1 ports, inserted wire back into Z1 port, inserted AC wire back into first slot, and reconnected wires to battery terminals]). After doing so my PC5008Z keypad is now double-beeping once every ~10 seconds, and both the "Armed" and "Trouble" light are continuously lit. New house, so I don't know the old Master Code, and hoping to do the factory reset and then reprogram the zones. Any help appreciated, thanks.
It seam you have sucessfully reset your alarm system. That being said, it mean you need to reprogram the whole thing. Wich is not an easy task if you never done it before.

Unfortunately, this happen to often with DSC System. You may open your keypad and look how your LCD stand on the keypad. You will realise that it's only clip. Otherwise you will have to replace it.

Morning. I tried a lot but may I failed to restore my pc1808. I don't have any code it's showing me a red lock and a yellow triangle sign. Its alway active if there any movement, siren starts
Hi! Well, the red lock mean it's in arm state. It is possible that the installer have disable that reset fonction. It's rare, but it's happen. In that case the only solution you have is to replace the pannel or try every code one by one, until you find the right one. From 0000 to 9999.

Hum. I never realised if it beep during the reset. Maybe it does at the boot up. To see if it work just try the default password 1234. If it work 1234 should be the password. If it doesn't, it mean the reset is disable or you didn't make it correctly.

If it resets the system back to factory settings, do you have a video on how to reset the whole system, time, date, stations etc?
Hi Robert. Actually I would suggest no to do it. You will have to reprogram everything. Zone, delay, partitions. I did not yet made the video about reprograming everything. But you don't need to do anything if you just cancel with the monitoring station. The system keep working.

Do you know how to verify why a new battery doesnt recharge itself? All 3 fuses okay; we've had a couple electricity shortages recently, which I guess have unsettled the system somehow
It happens sometimes that a new battery will charge enough to remove the error icon on the keypad. That means it is a defective battery. Maybe it was store directly on concrete before it was sent to you. Few people know but leaving a battery on concrete, drain its energy and kill the battery.
Unfortunately, firmware updates are permanent with any type of technology, it is not possible to go backwards. As mentioned in the reply, factory reset reverts all settings back to default.
By default DSC is a ''normally open'' system. That mean the contact you use on your door should be ''normally open'' with a resistance. This is a more secure way to protect a door, but almost nobody do it in residential security. So you must switch your pannel to ''normally close''. You can do that in the installer menu (*8) in section ''013'', activate ''1''.

Yeah,, watching this video. You do know this won't work if everybody has been locked out. If you power up the panel and you hear like 5 or 6 clicks from the panel. Nobody's getting into programming unless you know the present installer's code.

Great video and helpful. My unit has the trouble light turned on from the panel and making beeping noise all the time now. Can you show me to to get rid of it? I have a DSC system but very old, I installed back in 2000. I hope that you can help.

Hi Chinh! This trouble can be a lot of thing. I plan to do a super ''how to'' video about every proble you can have. Howerver, it wont be available before few monts. And it's very hard to explain like that with a keyboard. Good luck! 😉
Stupid question here. Would this allow me to use the system, that now I own, without a contract with a monitoring company? Thanks for helping,
Yes. But you will have to reprogram everything.
But the system is yours, you may just stop paying them. They will stop monitor.

I replaced one of three keypads. Initially, it went well. Got into the new pad via *8 5555, then 000 0 # Yellow triangle stayed on. Now I can't get the pad to respond. I only can use > to scroll thru "system", " R with numbers 1-8", and "Press # to Select Partition". I check all three of the old keypads before starting and all were set to 1 and Keypad address 1.
What now?
Thanks!
I used # 902 on the new keypad.
Thank you!

What if your z1 is being used? Do you pull out that cable and the jump it?
Yes. Disconect the cable in those zones and short Z1 and pgm2
What do we need to do once we do the factory reset, for everything to work as before? Thanks 🙏
Any advice?
I had a false fire alarm the other day and a triangle trouble fault indicator came on. How do I get rid of that.
Arm and disarm the system, you should be good then.
There is the reset button also on the keypad (3 arrows in circle).
Don't do the reset from that video.
I know this has to be a dumb question but does the whole system have to be off? Or do you just take the back up battery off?
It must be fully off. Power supply and battery.
But watch out. I realize that some regular user do it and should not. I made that video for alarm technician. I mean, if you de reset it, you will have to reprogram it. And this is not an easy task when you don't have a bit of experience in it. I will eventually do a video about how to program it.

How To I followed the same process. I’m using dsc 1616 and the panel is 5501. Currently the panel is locked (red) with warning (time not set). I short PGM1 and Z1. After 60 seconds. After typing *8 5555, it is not entering the programs mode. Do you have idea on this?

That being said, it mean you need to reprogram the whole thing.

@@HowToPM Thanks for the response. I don't think the factory reset has successfully worked, as it remains in the same state as before I try the reset. Do you know what lights/sounds should be showing once the factory reset has been successful?

Will a factory reset also reset the various codes (master code, installer code) to their defaults?
It will reset everything like if it was brand new out of the box. Even the programing of your zone. Everything. You will have to reprogram it after the reset.
I tried this but it did not reset my rfk5501. I am not sure why. I have two panels on the system. Could that be the reason? The other panel is an LED panel.
One of your panel is probably an extension pannel. There is also the possibility that the reset feature has been clocked by the programmer.

Hum. I never realised if it beep during the reset. Maybe it does at the boot up. To see if it work just try the default password 1234. If it work 1234 should be the password. If it doesn't, it mean the reset is disable or you didn't make it correctly.

You still need to do the same petern. 😉
Will this process also revert any firmware updates as well?
Hummm. This is a good question. But I dont think it will be. Must be only a reset of every setting.
Unfortunately, firmware updates are permanent with any type of technology, it is not possible to go backwards. As mentioned in the reply, factory reset reverts all settings back to default.
I can't do this, is there another way?
Nope.
After resetting my panel, my key pad shows all zones are open. What did I do wrong?
By default DSC is a ''normally open'' system. That mean the contact you use on your door should be ''normally open'' with a resistance. This is a more secure way to protect a door, but almost nobody do it in residential security. So you must switch your pannel to ''normally close''. You can do that in the installer menu (*8) in section ''013'', activate ''1''.
You are awesome. It worked. Thank you
