      I'm not tall, and the Frontier is a little easier to get into than the Tacoma. And the seats are more comfortable and you can get one with a six-foot bed in the back for hauling stuff. @@PistonPundit

    Toyota ruined the new Tacoma and Tundra. Turbo-only drive trains will never see space shuttle miles. Also, the overwrought cartoonish bro-dozer styling of both trucks is ridiculous. As a Toyota truck loyalist I just bought a new Frontier. The reserved, rugged style and NA V6 were major factors in the decision.

    The vast majority of USA owners use their Toyota as a grocery getter. For this, the T is hard to beat. But T's seats are not as good as Nissan: ask me how I know. T's engine are now turbos, which will wear quicker: this is certain. The advantages of T disappear when hauling and towing, especially over long distances, and over mountains. N's 6cyl engine/tranny is a far superior one for haul/tow. When haul/tow, N's engine achieves better mpg in real world conditions; hard to believe, but true. The adage is true, especially for trucks: there is no replacement for displacement. The pity is USA buyers have never seen the diesel powered Navarra: for haul/tow and mpg, this is unbeatable.

    • @PistonPundit
      @PistonPundit  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Interesting insights! It's true that many people in the USA use trucks for daily tasks rather than heavy-duty work, and for that, the versatility of the Toyota trucks is great. And you're right about the seats and comfort varying among brands - everyone has their own preference. As for the diesel-powered Navara, it's indeed a beast in regions where it's available, and many would love to see it stateside. The debate between turbos vs naturally aspirated engines for longevity is an ongoing one, with valid points on both sides. Thanks for sharing your perspective, always great to hear from someone with firsthand experience! 🚗🛍️🔧

    • @robgrune3284
      @robgrune3284 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@bouncer812 expected. Americans like to run short trips and keep engine temps cooler than warmer. Most engines today are GPI, so carbon is not unique to Nissan. It's not too big a deal, tho: I can have a valve clean done at a local shop for $250, every 4-5 years. Considering a Taco is priced +$10k more, $250/4yrs is ok for a truck that performs better on the road, better comfort, better mpg, when towing +5k#. My only complaint is Nissan omitted a trailer brake controller: to me, a glaring omission that will hurt sales.

    Naturally aspirated v6 is going to last much longer than a hybrid 4cyl twin turbo motor. When the battery dies on the Tacoma. Ouch that is going to be pricey. Guaranteed the turbo goes around or slightly before 150k miles. And then the 4cyl engine having the wear and tear from the extra pressure the twin turbo puts on it spells a recipe for disaster

    The Frontier Pro4 x is a better value vs. the Tacoma TRD Off-Road. I've owned both, the new 2024 Tacoma is very nice but is about $10,000 more than a comparably equipped Frontier when you consider the mark-up on the Tacoma and the fact that you can get up to 10% off the MSRP on a Frontier. I added the Alldogs RCKilla lift and it changed the look of my Pro-4X completely, looks amazing. I have not added larger tires but will when time to change, only have 3k in miles. Surprisingly, mpg hasn’t changed, still holding slightly above 20mpg combined.

    That 4 cyl. Turbo will be junk at 100 K. I’ll take the frontier. Too bad Nissan don’t make a king cab pro 4X in the states.( only Canada) Also they should offer the rear locker in all models. Nissan should offer a factory lift also. People would forget Tacoma quickly.😉

    Frontier Pro4x infotainment system is terrible, laggy, and slow to respond and often the carplay navigation lags far enough behind my phone where I've missed exits and shuts off and reboots on its own. There are door issues the warranty wouldn't fix and I've often went out to my locked truck without a key for the door to somehow open and alarm go off. Also, if your battery is weak/dead you can't even shift into neutral to get a tow as the transmission is all electronic. All of which Nissan doesn't care about. Definitely the last Nissan I buy. That being said it does drive nice and other than those very annoying features it's been a good truck. Would 10/10 trade up for the hybrid drive tacoma.

      I hate to say, but you're kidding yourself if you think the new Taco won't have any of these problems.
      Toyota didn't even fix a stupid rubber trim piece that came undone on the roof of my parent's 2018 rav4. It just came undone and started banging on their driver side window one day. Car didn't even have 30k miles on it. It was under warranty, nothing was done.
      Sorry to hear about your Frontier. Sounds like you liked the truck before the weird problems. I'm just warning you not to get your hopes up with Toyota. I really do hope you find good luck in the new Taco.👍 Stay safe out there.

    👎 you can’t turn the driving lights off on the front part of the bumper
    👎 the radio takes forever to boot up makes me think it’s going to crash one day
    👎 open the hood and wiggle it up and down from the center with one hand and look at the hinges wobble like they are ready to break loose.
    👎 the steering is extremely Stiff.
    👎 the plastic bumper on the front keeps popping loose from the front of the fenders. Makes it look like crap. You have to keep pushing them back in.
    👎. Spend almost $40,000 and you will not get running boards.
    👎 if you buy a four-wheel-drive and you get hit in the rear end collision really hard the left leaf spring could poke a hole in your gas tank. There’s a safety recall on that.
    👎 they have way too many sensors on the dash that absolutely drive me nuts.
    👎 they made it kind of difficult free to reach in an access the oil filter so you can change it which is stupid. They should’ve put the oil filter on top of the engine like they do on Mercedes. But they make it difficult for you the truck owner so you have to bring it to the Nissan dealer. Which I will never do.
    👎 faulty door, locking mechanism on the drivers door.
    👎 if you don’t close the drivers door hard, you might have to open up the back door and reach Drew to open up the drivers door.
    👎 way too many sensors on the dash that drive me nuts. 👎I like the 1997 extended cab automatic four-cylinder much better than I do my 2022 Nissan frontier. Personally I have total regrets of buying it. Keep in mind they depreciate really fast. If I could find a 1997 extended cab, that’s in really good shape I would put my 2022 Nissan frontier in the desert and set it on fire just to show how pissed off I am about the truck.

      I get tired of the Toyota resale argument. Who cares about resale when you’re left driving a truck with a terrible driving position, *gutless* engine, endlessly shifting transmission, and loads of NHV? (2016-2023 Tacos). I test drove two different ones and HATED them. The new Frontier is a VASTLY better truck. So much so that I traded in my 2003 Tundra in on one. The Frontier ran circles around the Tacoma. I’ll take lower resale value all day long to pick up a powerful, smooth drive train, fantastic towing experience, great driving position, quiet interior, and exceptional road manners. I’m a long time Toyota guy but not slavishly devoted to any brand. Nissan built a better truck this time around. As for the 2024 Taco, no space shuttle miles out of that 4 pot turbo. Immediate dealbreaker when you can’t get an NA engine.
