I love Dan’s style. It’s very creative and knows how to employ dynamics and contrast when needed. Fitting right moments to blast and when to pull back. Devour me Colossus or and plague flowers the kaleidoscope. His YT channel has play throughs of these songs.

When you mentioned the melodic drumming i immediately thought about Toe, a japanese math rock band, they have this song "Kodoko no Hatsunei" it has gorgeous compositions, unfortunately there are no drum cams of this, but you can get an idea of it with this live performance: th-cam.com/video/y2fWP7ApVkA/w-d-xo.html
Why is it "silly" to play a blast beat? I mean... I get that they're WAY overused and I try to not use them unless it seems necessary to the song I'm writing to, but nothing on drums is "silly"... unles your name is Aaron Kitcher, and you program all of your drums and can't actually play them live.

Nailed it! Great band. I suggest And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope. Two singers, clean also plays violin. Drummer wears a gopro sometimes.

One scary, who does all the growls.
And one Jesus, who does all the clean vocals and also plays the violin.
