zach hill once lost a tooth by eating a carrot whilst watching slum dog millionaire and now im 1dering if the opening shot was a reference to that,,, either way really great and insightful video
thinking about having a "box" of movement around the kit in order to maximize efficiency is actually a super helpful tip that ive never considered before. this little bit of information will change how i play forever, thanks :)
I appreciate the attention to detail on how Zach’s kit is set up, but I’d like to argue that there’s not one specific way to set up your drum kit to make what he plays necessarily easier. I’ve seen drummers with their kits set up in the craziest ways that absolutely rip, and I’ve seen drummers pull out rulers and suck ass, everyone’s different and it’s practice more than anything! It should also be noted that all genres of music have drum kits that can get set up in different ways, if you have a mega death metal kit, you probably aren’t playing math rock, if you have a floor tom and a bass drum, you probably aren’t playing Rush lol
love the vids. im a massive autistic zach hill nerd and its nice to know im not the only one. hes really the best. i can play republic of rough in ready in full super well, just by listening to it over and over again.
also i have one more question. Do you know what tuning zach uses for his drums? i know for his toms its really low and tuned close to the bass drum and on the accoustics album he has his snare head off and it sounds tuned really high. I could be wrong but if you dont know i could figure it out myself im not sure lol@@maxxisntbored
