Kinda what I expected. Guy Ritchie has settled into a nice niche of "turn your head off for a while and laugh through action", and I'm 100% ok with that.
It is not that easy to pull that off well, to be honest.
It's sad that Marvel has become "comfort food" movies when this is what "comfort food" movies should be.
@theroebuck123456789
If someone finds their comfort in watching marvel movies then let em do it, who cares?
I’d be more okay with it if I liked that kind of film to begin with
@@theroebuck123456789 who cares
Everyone talking about Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill, but here I am , just really happy seeing Alan Ritchson getting more roles and recognition!
He came a long way from Blue Mountain State.
I will never not see Thad Castle when i look at him lol
I'm so happy for him
I was coming to say the same thing. Him and Henry Cavill together must have been amazing on set as they both come across as nice guys
too bad hes an idiot like thad in real life
We need American blockbusters to bring back the big budget, WELL SHOT, r-rated action film. John Wick can't sustain it alone.
Thank you for capital WELL SHOT. Almost all big budget movies nowadays look like grey sludge and film direction in general means a ton of Mid Close Ups
Keanu Reeves always has a great supporting cast to pick up the acting chops where Keanu lacks.
Agreed. We need more R rated action blockbusters that ruled the summers like in the 90s. Bad Boys 2 was the last of that breed for a good while before the comic book and fantasy movies phase (which I still liked some of those).
Equalizer 3 was well shot snd had some great action. I suppose it wasn’t big budget though
@@marksaguindel1903hey Keanu is the goat!
Saw it last night absolutely loved it Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill are now Q4 two the man from uncle is criminally underrated one of my favorite movies and this for me is right up there with it!!
Army hammer really BIT into that script! He was a HUNGRY actor. What ever happened to him?
@@roscojenkins7451 😂
@@roscojenkins7451 I think you know what happened to him!
This sounds like it might be a throwback to the classic 60s and 70s man-on-a- mission commando movies (Dirty Dozen, Guns of Navarone, Where Eagles Dare etc .) Those are some of my favorite films that I can rewatch endlessly and I miss that style of more lighthearted adventure war flick.
Will definitely be going to see this.
I got to see this early last week, and you are 100% correct that this film is a throwback to those classic men on a mission movies like Guns of Navarone, Dirty Dozen, and Where Eagles Dare.
Definitely worth watching, I had a blast!
When did Alistair MacLean vanish from people's memory?😢

@@greysnake2903 thx for the rec this looks solid
Here's hoping Alan Ritchson gets cast in a Wolfenstein movie at some point
My guy Til Schweiger from Inglorious Bastards is literally B.J Blazkowicz
Wait2 is Til Schweiger the mocap actor for the rebooted wolfenstein game? Cus for the longest time i've always seen BJ Blazkowicz as Til Schweiger, until i researched on google and find that Til doesn't land his acting on BJ's part (if i remember corrrctly)
@@productivindoid9069 They sude look crazy alike.
A Brit version of Inglorious Bastards!😂😂😂
Even had the same dude who we all cheered for as he killed Germans make us fear him from one scene alone

Exactly what I said 🤣👏
I have viewed both films, and that’s this one blindly, and didn’t really think it was similar. Inglorious bastards was much more dialog driven. And this one a lot more suspense.
A working man’s Inglorious Bastards)))
I N G L O U R I O U S W A R F A R E

2:47 Was that a sneaky Uwe Boll reference Stuckmann? Til Schweiger in a FAR CRY from his role… I see you.
Definitely not.
No
I caught that too, even if it wasn't intentional.
I really hope this movie has a Christopher Lee character. A REAL LIFE member of this covert unit.
More than this movie, I REALLY want to see a Christopher Lee biopic. Truly one of the greatest badasses of modern history
His life story could easily be a trilogy of films with a heavy metal soundtrack! Christopher Lee's life and family lineage sounds straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster
@@MichaelSavidgeStoryteller I made this same comment on jeremy Jahns review of this movie, and someone suggested a Mini-series, and I'm definitely here for it
He was... The Most Interesting Man in the World.
@@hifrommike2120 not even a character named Chris as a subtle nod? If so, that's disappointing
That's the biopic we really need, and most importantly to the box office...want.
The real SOE had quite a star studded 'cast' - people involved beyond Fleming included Christopher Lee, Maskelyne the Magician, Douglas Fairbanks jr, Jon Pertwee, and Peter Ustinov. There were a lot of people from the West End from costumes to make-up to management whose names would mean almost nothing now, who were heavily involved in something not wildly different to the Q Division in the Bond movies.
Alan Ritchson stoled the movie for me, he was so great
Going to see the movie tonight with a couple of other pals. Sounds like the perfect Guys Movie! Thank you for the review!
Grandfather who fought in World War II in the US Army would have definitely approved.
Eh ok pal
I love that you mention the character development is a little thin but that the actors are so good at what they do that it doesn't matter. You just made me realize something that I wish I had put into my review. The "character" in this film was actually the mission or maybe the team as a whole, and not a single person (I know that sounds a little weird, but we're talking about Guy Ritche, right?). The mission was the character and all of the people, the plan, the action, etc were the visual embodiment of its development as the central "character" in the story. It's kind of a weird way of looking at this film, but I think this is why the movie works. Great breakdown of the film, Chris.
Guy Richie’s movies are always a fun ride. There’s never a lot of melodramatic characterization except in one major character. One focus, one emotional note and clear concise message, if any. Which is fine by me.
I am really looking forward to seeing it.❤
Keep at it Stuckmann. 👍 I'll be watching this flick sooner rather than later, due in part to this review.
Really looking forward to this. I’ve been enjoying Guy Ritchie’s recent films.
I'm glad I didn't have to watch a 20sec non skippable ads. Chris stuckman is OG
Excellent choice of t shirt in this video Chris
Nice Ace Ventura shirt, Chris
Thanks this is what I wanted to hear!
Why does the UK have to wait until it goes to Amazon prime?
British film maker with heavily British led cast and yet no British release date?! WTH - very annoyed by this...
Amazon Prime bought distribution rights [which seems to be the case for the last few Ritchie films]. The box office projections aren't very high [although maybe good word of mouth will help] so maybe they felt it would fair better on streaming.
@@jamesatkinsonja Yeah that figures for the rest of the world but if the US can get a cinema release you would think the UK would too! Especially after the gentlemen success keeping the Guy Ritchie buzz going. Just annoyed as it does not seem like a film to watch on the small screen either!
Apparently Alan Ritchson read five books about his character and argued with Guy about his kills
Dude’s gonna get so many more roles from this
I love it when actors are dedicated to doing home work on the person they are portraying. Should be a bloody good movie.
I LOVE your shirt, Chris.
Henry Cavill and his band of wiley cast of characters well and truly deliver! This was a great watch! ❤
"Til Schweiger, in a far cry from his role in Inglourious Basterds" I understood that reference 😉
I really enjoy your channel. I think it’s pretty rad.
damn i am early to a chris stuckmann video let's goooooo
Any update on Shelby Oaks release date?
Wholeheartedly agree with your review. I was lucky enough to attend an early screening and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I wish there had been a bit more character development but it didn’t take itself too seriously and the movie worked for me
I'm just glad to see Princess Buttercup's boyfriend in another movie.
THE DREAD PIRATE ROBERTS! Tbf, Cary Elwes is in a lot of movies.
@@dmingledorff Robin Hood - Men in Tights... the only Robin Hood that can speak with british accent.
I so badly want to see this at the theater but thanks to Amazon it is apparently not being released in theaters in Canada so I am unable to watch it. I've waited so long for this movie to come out and now I find out it's not coming out in my country
The title sounds like a Guy Ritchie parody film that would be showing in another film
was that a reference to the far cry movie that til schweiger starred in or was that just coincidence? 2:47
where can i get that ace ventura tshirt?
Just came from seeing it and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! The action was good and everyone in the theater laughed at the humor. And there were all ages there. At the end I found myself wondering just how in the hell did they manage to pull it off? All I can say is... I really like Guy Ritchie's movies! This one was really entertaining! 👍
Going tomorrow! Can't wait! 💪🏻
What happened to feature presentation?
Gone. Reduced to atoms.
Nothing, he'll return to it
It became a rerun
Hope you enjoyed the new one he just released
No uk cinema release for this which sucks I was looking forward to seeing it on the big screen
And nothing online yet anout when or how to see it in Australia. Maybe on streaming services rather than in cinemas, which is a shame.
I was going to say the way you talking about this making it seem like it needs to be dark or very mature emotions. It was good, humorous, and fun!
Can you review Madam Web plz?
Here is Chris Stuckmen's new video I hope I enjoy it.
I was already pumped for this but this just adds more to it. Booking ‘em tix now

You should do 'Late Night with the Devil,' now that it's on streaming platforms.
Am I crazy or did he review this movie and delete it
Chris... Where is sheleby oaks?
Shame this didn't get a UK cinematic release. I was looking forward to going to see it
How can we watch this movie, not in cinemas or find it another site. No info on prime either. Looks like the comments are mainly the same. Cant think of another movie to do it.
Movie was incredible! Loved the similarities it shared with Inglorious Basterds, and loved Guy Ritchie’s style in this one!
I don’t know why folks are saying that Chris doesn’t review movies anymore! if this wasn’t a movie review, then I don’t know what is! Chris isn’t afraid to mention a movie’s shortcomings; he just doesn’t trash those shortcomings!
Get a clue!
@@jonnyfendi2003 What?
I'd rather have reviews like these over the relentlessly negative ones moaning about culture war nonsense.
Hey people, which film do you think is Guy Ritchie's best?
When is your furiosa review?
It never occurred to me, but your analogy to "SISU", is perfect. It works. And, having seen both films, and enjoyed both, I can hardily, reccomend both. This film (in spite of the bad press) is fun & engaging. The hiccups are (very) minor, the characters are (very) likeable. See it. I think you will like. Just point (or not) and shoot ! I do have to wonder how it will go over in " The Fatherland" !
Where is Sasquatch Sunset?
The movie was ok but more serious than the ads suggested. There were only 1 or 2 bad guys and it didn't really show them doing anything. The rest were Germans basically standing around waiting to be killed. You don't really get to know the "heroes". The introductions of the heroes is someone telling us "This is ______ , they do this___". Alan and Henry are the best thing about it.
I can’t wait to see this movie. There is one specific point in your review of the movie that I think a lot of people may not get but I hope they do. It’s when you talk about this movie is just a lot of fun to go see and I think nowadays people tend to forget a movie doesn’t have to be political. It doesn’t have to have any kind of strange overture or crazy sexual relationships or religions or anything could just be a movie that just good entertainment I think that’s what sorely missing and definitely needed and this day and age and I hope they bring that kind of movies back soon
Guys where can I watch the movie online!
Loved your review, feel sometimes reviewers try to be siskel and ebert. Its a guy ritchie and jerry bruckheimer movie, I expect over the top action scenes to make me go wow did you see that. I don't expect a historically accurate movie but I do hope to be entertained.
This basically feels like what a Wolfenstein movie would look like if Guy Ritchie directed it. I mean that in the best way possible.
No reference or mention of Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds which did this plot-line first in 2009?
He alludes to it at 2:48
@@jamesatkinsonja yup heard the blurb but was talking more about the plot similarities
Honestly the “group of WWII misfits must infiltrate Nazi island to destroy weapons there” plot sounds like it owes more to Guns of Navarone, something that Tarantino himself probably had in mind when doing Inglorious Basterds
Oh man my wife and I saw this movie yesterday. And I got to say you can tell they were having fun with this movie. we loved it
Great can’t wait to see what Chris has to say about thAAANNND it’s over
Arcadian? When?
Just watched the movie this evening. It was such a fun watch and I agree with this review.
So crazy seeing Alan getting a big role in a big movie, long time coming. Will never not see him as Thad tho 😂 legend
It is kind of nice that the US market got a theatrical release and was able to watch this film. I was waiting eargerly for this to be released where I am this weekend but lo and behold Canada, Australia and UK get no release but have to wait 3 months for a streaming release. Thanks Amazon Video for not allowing Commonwealth nations watch a film about Commonwealth contributions to WW2 but only the US can.
Shame it’s got no release date in England…
A damn good time? That’s all I care about when it comes to Gut Ritchie movies. He’s currently one of my favorite directors. Man of Wrath is my favorite movie he directed.
The Gentlemen was a great show too.
This movie was fantastic!!
Oh damn, Alex Pettifer is in this?! Haven’t seen that mans in a minute
I saw it last ight and it was a damn good time indeed, Guy Ritchie is such a good director
Also Henry Cavill has so much fun in the role and is fantastic, same for the Reacher actor, man I really underestimated that guy
Saw it. I agree. It was fun!
Sooo is this not just like a less serious inglorious bastards?
Feels like a British version of Inglorious Basterds plus CGI minus Tarantino’s writing, so far from trailer and clips. Liked the covenant, so gotta give him credit and watch, but I don’t know how it will match up
Have you seen the SAS Rogue Heroes series? Same subject but a lot more time to explore the real people it's based on.
Cavill's 2nd 2024 movie , that is quite awesome
It's because Argylle was filmed way back in 2021!
it's sort of like The Dirty Dozen mixed in with Inglorious Basterds.
i'm in.
Any updates on your upcoming movie 'Shelby Oaks'?
Things don't seem to be going well
I've donated $5000 dollars for the production of Shelby Oaks. Stuckmann hasn't replied to our e-mails in a while now. Me and other donors are already in touch with lawyers and preparing a class action, because honestly, we were all scammed.

Chris, do Blue Beetle review..🥹
Is there a reason why people believe every movie has to be about caring about the characters?
If you’re more focused on world building than character, then you’re a world building Director.
If you’re more focused on character writing, then world building, then you’re a character focus Director.
Some directors don’t have both, but their characters are driven by personality only. You’re not supposed to know everything about them. You are there to be entertained by them for two hours and nothing more because that was never the direction. 🎬
Yes very much this. One of the reasons i hate how everyone dunks on james camerons avatar. Its not a complex character drama, but it is an awesome scifi action movie with amazing world building, and thats all it needs to be enjoyable.
You're absolutely right. I have never cared much about characters (honestly feel there is something wrong with my brain) but the world and how everyone reacts to it is what gets me immersed and makes me feel the stakes
John Wick is another example. The characters aren't complicated but the world is built up well and it's mostly a framework for excellent action.
Only issue I have is how jacked some of the characters seem to be. Not many people in 1940s wartime could attain that physicality.
eh people like seeing jacked men in movies, nothing new. i dont know how you can have an issue with that specifically in a movie as stylized as this
this movie belongs to the 80s era when movies like first blood, delta force, commando etc were made and I grew up enjoying them all
When I saw the trailer I thought "this is going to be the perfect movie to watch on a flight". I like watching movies like this to relax on a flight.
This movie didn't seem to get a lot of publicity. We saw it but only 1 theater in our city even showed it! Great movie though, happy we watched it. It's a 'more serious, darker take' on Man from Uncle - similar vibes and we enjoyed it!
You are lucky, I'm a Brit and we never got it released. It's only a British film, producer, actors and about our history 😅 I've only managed to see it as someone has posted a good copy of it on TH-cam a day ago. That will probably get taken down soon. It was a film that should have been seen at the cinema! 😢
I see what you did there with Til Schweiger and far cry... 😁
Seen that chris made a review of this immediately thought " oh since he's reviewing it he likes it" saved me 5 minutes lol
"A far cry from from inglorious bastards" I like what did there very good! ❤
I absolutely loved this movie and like some, called it more like a comical version of Inglorious Bastard - The people the actors portray are rather interesting and it is worth reading the book for which Richie got the story from!
Still no Late Night With the Devil video?
So its like Inglourious Basterds
Is it a bird? is it a plane? No, it's an movie review from Chris Stuckmann. A rare sight. We may never see the like again.
Not in cinemas here :(
I know it's going on 'Amazon Prime' in many territories at some point.

From the title I thought this was going to be a sequel to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
