To kill Isobel without killing everyone else release Dame Aylin. The harpers and the Flaming fist will attack Moonrise tower while the Tieflings and Gnomes will use the distraction to make for baulder's gate while the absolute is distracted by the attack. Teleport in and kill Isobel.

HOWEVER for some stupid reason, Dammon will remain in the inn,(which is the main reason I hate killing Isobel in the first place) because he sells some insane items in Act 3. Anyway, what you can do to save Dammon, is wait to kill Isobel until AFTER you kill Kethric. Dammon will no longer be in the inn and you can kill her by casting darkness, fog cloud or whatever to sneakily kill her. Also however, Fel will force take away the quest to kill Isobel if she’s isn’t dead by the time you storm Moonrise Towers. So, I ended up having to do like the entire moonrise towers siege and then the Kethric fight without long resting to avoid Fel.
@@davidsoyele7829 Hmm ungroup your party and have someone stand by him with a moon lantern. Killing all the shadow creatures. Maybe the strange ox helps.
@@jaystrickland4151 Hmm, maybe I’m not sure how the game codes it is the thing. Because there’s usually a cutscene that plays and everyone in the inn automatically becomes undead, however if you kill Isobel AFTER killing Kethric that cutscene doesn’t play, so I’m not sure tbh.

Really wish there were more transformations like this available outside of class choice. Its basically just slayer and displacer beast. Id love it if we had some that were tied to items like other spells. Or even potions. What I'd personally love is if you could contract lycanthropy and go down a story around that, though i understand that those kind of story beats would basically just mirror what you do with Durge.
Yeah same here. Druid might be my favorite class and even with that I wish we had more forms.
@Omaha01 shame the shadow druids werent an option to side with in act 1. Couldve given a new subclass where you could wild shape into creatures similar to what you find in the shadowfell.
@@Omaha01 I just wish all of the forms were as well developed and fleshed out as owlbear and he myrmidons. Bear, badger, deep rothe, and panther are all the biggest losers in my opinion.
Bear is just decent health and a complete downgrade to owlbear. It's taunt being completely useless as AI will always prefer to target you since your AC is basically non-existent.
Deep rothe has 10 AC and the worst health scaling of all forms. At level 12 it's health is roughly equal to the badgers.
Badger has 3 actions and no bonus actions. What? Burrow should 100% be a bonus action. Also, burrows prone effect is a flat DC 13 and there's no way to raise it. So it's just kinda terrible.
Panthers invis is bugged and doesn't work properly. At level 8 and higher, the bonus damage no longer applies. Pounce, like burrow, is a flat DC 13 save and almost never works because of it. Coupled with the fact that it isn't a bonus action, and that panthers damage/attack rolls are from dexterity which it only has 15 of, panther is kinda crap. You can never use jugular strike of your own accord, always has to be another party member proving the enemies.
If you like the idea of Lycanthropy, check out the "Blood Hunter" Class mod, its based off the class from 5e made by Matt Mercer, and one subclass allows you to transform into a Werewolf (its a bit glitchy though), there is also another subclass that I would compare to a Witcher!

While it makes sense lore-wise, it is unfortunate that you lose the Slayer form if you reject Bhaal, especially after the sacrifices to get it.
I agree - you know what else doesn't make sense.... When Bhaal kills you - and you are laying there ded while Jergal does his spiel... The tadpole should have left your head, because you are ded... buuuuuut w/e :p .

Yeah you should at least get some sort of permanent buff from being the Slayer previously or something, not enough benefits for being evil in this game
I seriously love the design of the slayer. Having the conditions to do more damage, but you can create those conditions with other attacks makes it shockingly versatile and brutal.
Imagine playing as a Dark Urge Druid. Getting your Slayer form killed then just shapeshifting into a bear right after. Then picking Half Orc on top if it. That's basically 3 extra lives before finally falling in combat.
Yeah that sounds like a really fun run!
Don't forget the displacer beast form if you go partial illithid too

there is a druid modpack that makes it operate more like 5e and it includes an item that gives a turn of sanctuary after your wildshape is killed. It also turns wildshape into a ritual spell under certain conditions but even without that you can enter a fight in wildshape, get reverted back to humanoid form, and wildshape again 2 more times that fight (you wont need to). At max level this gives you an effective health pool much higher than just about anything you will fight. Even without these mods druid can pull off something similar, making it capable of being the most ridiculous tank in the game
Slayer form is usually a mixed bag in combat, but it is truly impressive how quickly Slayer shreds Orin. And playing the evil path through the plot is much more satisfying.

Just found this vid after starting my 1st durge playthrough and now i have even more incentive to go through with it
5:00 Level 10, it’ll give you 3 attacks, and I think it also ups your stats. Also interesting build, if you happen to be doing a build with 3 levels in thief for the extra bonus action, the slayer actually carries it over to the slayer. Means you can use 2 of its bonus action abilities per turn.
6:27 I think that’s supposed to be the: “if target is dazed the attack is a crit”, I’m assuming the tooltip is just wrong or something.
I’m just going to add on to this auntie Ethel‘s hair also carries over so that 25 strength can become 26 giving you another level +1 from it.
I’m actually kind of disappointed I watch this video thinking it was going to be a video covering all of the little tips and tricks to make an entire build revolving around the slayer such as making sure that you get auntie Ethel‘s hair plus your suggestion and then other stuff like that. unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case. It’s a very basic video so if anyone else has any other tips and tricks, feel free to chain here I guess
DC of all abilites tied to charisma, which is always 8 in slayer form, so about 10-11 DC. Surprisingly, passive dc boostings items carry over to slayer form, so wizards and sorcerers are probably the best choices to use transformation efficiently for 3 attacks with decent DC on abilites. Any martial is just heavily nerfing himself, unless you just want temp hp.

I had a dark urge pally lock. Unlocked the form out of curiosity with a little save scumming and discovered it actually was a direct nerf to basically every part of my character.
Yeah the Oathbreaker is really good!
Some patch (5 I think) made Tavern Brawler feat account for shapeshifting. TB does now stack with Slayer form, making it way better but probably still worse than a regular TB build like Open Hand monk. Thief's extra bonus action carries over as well, allows great synergy with the prone/dazed/bleeding effects. Paladin auras carry over as well. Precasting a concentration spell works too. Oh, and the free extra 150 hp come in handy when you try a solo run.
Thief Rogue is very very broken on any difficulty, if you prone them they are literally dead in two rounds with slay, and you can automatically heal if you bleed them even once.
yo for the multatrack that +4d6(slashing)Conditional is from the "if the creature is dazed your hit will be a critical hit" which adds 4d6 on top of the 4d6 of the base attack
Permanent bonuses to player's ability scores (Everlasting Vigour, Auntie Ethel's Boon, memories from Mirror of Loss) are carried over to Slayer form and are added to its ability scores. And since strength modifier is added to its normal attacks (Slay), you can get a damage boost, though negligible. Sadly, tavern brawler doesn't work with Slayer form (as of Patch 5).
Tavern Brawler does increase damage with slayer form, it's just not shown properly, test it yourself
Would you still get the See Invisibility condition from Volo’s fake eye?
No you don’t get Volos eye in slayer form.

I lost Isobel to the raid, but never got it.
However, she was there for the fight against Myrkul, when I killed her there, I got the Slayer form.
Also, this may have been a happy glitch, but I actually got to keep the Slayer form after rejecting Bhall. Which is actually kinda cool for role play purposes too. Since it’s like I’ve truly conquered this part of myself.
lore wise, slayer is bhaals avatar in you, rejecting bhaal is rejecting the slayer, because the slayer IS bhaal

I can see this being a little better if you have a party member use the tadpole ability that lets anyone in range use actions and bonus actions interchangeably. I think it's called mind sanctuary. Probably going to play around with it later since minthara is so so so interested in the astral tad
I wish there was some sort of mod where you could reject Baahl and still keep the slayer form. Like from a RP standpoint. I feel like it could be still be thematic to scorn Baahl but, in the final battle you decide to use your slayer power in spite of it all. In order to make something good happen and save Baldur's Gate.
u can use the mod "free and powerful slayer" and the mod "choose your status" to add the slayer transformation after u lose it to bhaal, they're both on nexus
Or, you know, just be evil as the game intended for the slayer.
a good follow up vid to this is to discuss this like a wild shape deep dive: what class abilities work? what feats work? what racial traits work? what items work? that way people who'd be interested in building around it have the needed info.
personally, i'd be more interested in making a slayer build if we could get it much earlier like late act 1 or early act 2.

almost nothing works because larian decided that druid and all wildshapes are much weaker than 5e and have to lose viability in the late game without mods
You can let Isobel be taken alive. Then Long rest after killing her in Kethric's fight. It will trigger and you will have slayer form for act3

The best idea I have for the +4d6 slashing (conditional) on the Multiattack is an oversight leftover from an early version that was never fixed
Looking in the comments, people are saying its the extra slashing against bleeding targets, but some testing of my own has proven that wrong
The special interactions Multiattack has (from my findings) are:
Bleeding: Each attack that hits deals an additional amount of damage equal to your Strength modifier (normally +5/+7 for under/at or above level 10)
Dazed: Each attack that hits is a Critical Hit (+1d4 damage)
None of the Slayer attacks benefit from effects that buff weapon attacks (eg. the Crusader's Mantle spell), but do apply effects that trigger on a critical hit (eg. Mortal Reminder for Great Old One warlocks) and any time you deal damage (eg. the Cull the Weak illithid power)
Fun fact! This fight is easy if you dont have slayer form yet if you are a warlock with the spell "Hunger of Hadar". It adds dificult terrain, blindness, cold damage, and prevents Orin from attacking if you are outside the radius. The only hard part is rolling initiative higher, I recomend using a speed potion for this, as she can stunlock you easily.

I just finished the duel with Orin on my durge playthrough. I refused to kill Isobel and rejected Bhaal in the end and it felt like such an amazing anti hero story. I cried when Karlach told me she was proud of me. This game is just phenomenal on every level.

I wonder if the intel, wisdom and charisma stats are indented as is or a bug... the relentless lunge also use your charisma DC bonus, which is why it almost never land

I have a Durge tactician run on hiatus that I began a few months back, right after finishing the game as normal Tav. I got the slayer form in act 2 without killing Isobel or my romance partner.
The only thing of note that I did was to let Marcus take Isobel. Scleritas Fel commended me afterwards for getting EVERYONE at the last light inn murdered by letting Isobel get kidnapped. I'm not sure if this is an intentional method by the game, or it just bugged out for me.
My Durge run is heavily bugged out the wazoo. Minthara was my intended romance, but somehow the game placed me on the Lae'zel romance, AND got Minthara's romance activated at the same time. They don't mention each other or acknowledge that I'm basically two timing, which is odd because out of all the romances, I think those two would have the biggest problems being two timed like that.
Letting Isobel get taken means everyone at the inn dies
@@GeorgeJoubert-id2cv I would know because that's exactly what I did??? I'm just saying Scleritas Fel still awarded me with the Slayer form. I still had to resist killing my romance partner, and I successfully did, but it's just buggy af.
Video claims that one must either kill Isobel directly or kill their romance partner to get the Slayer form in Act 2. I didn't, but still got the Slayer, and the only thing I can think of as to why that is is because I let Isobel get taken.

It appears that the save DC for the slayer actions in some versions of the game is linked to your class' ability, so if you're Charisma-based it is pitifully low to the point of being nearly worthless. Hopefully patches have fixed that.
Interesting, I kind of lost interedt in the slayer after my lv 12 Durge paladin with like 20 AC demolished Orin's slayer form with little difficulty, but I guess it's actually quite strong and Orin was the problem.
For Multiattack, the target must be bleeding in order to get that extra 1d6 slashing damage.
Dam when did the slayer get all these new abilities, it used to have like 4 at launch
It makes me wonder if you have the slayer form but a companion kills orin instead. I.e Durge stays the f away from the bhaalist temple. Does it change the ending?
Easy way i heard is to cure the shadow curse stopping people turning in to undead
You can actually have a slayer vs slayer fight with Orin if you speak with her mom in her bed chamber using speak with dead before you start the fight then you have to pass a speech check and Bhaal will make her a slayer too
Does all slayer attack and buff proc item passive? Like the ring that heal you for the maximum roll possible or the one that gave you +2 poison damage on each attack?

I think the point made might be that slayer gets buffs at lvl 10 and you didn’t mention that or even demonstrate it at lvl 10

My preferred way of saving everybody in Last Light while killing Isobel is at the end of Act 2 where you triumph over Ketheric. While everybody is celebrating in Moonrise, just straight up kill isobel, and then run all the way to the Prison stairs so that you can get out of combat asap since everybody is only marked as temporarily hostile.
If you have Jeheira be recruited as an ally and you try to long rest, she will be hostile but you can non-lethal her and then long rest and then she gets back up and ignores whatever happens (and so does everybody else, lol)
You can also temp hostile kill her in camp, perhaps easier. Same results, and only Dame attacks you.
Maaaaaaaaaan what I have used the slayer in all my runs, and I didnt know that the ability Piercing Growl Existed, I dont think I have ever seen it on my cheese weel of spells as I play on controller, I must manuallly add it I think, or I need to take a look why I have never seen it
You need to rescue Volo by the docks and he gives you a book about the Slayer
When I fought as the slayer and went to HP0 and then reverted but i was still 0 HP. i don’t think that is supposes to happen .. anyone else get the same thing?

Tavern brawler makes the slayer more likely to hit on its attack rolls BUT the damage part where your strength is rolled twice does not affect slayer. but it does affect druid wildshape now so wildshapes fully benefit from tavern brawler

Someone else mentioned you get it if you get the book from Volo. I've done that both times so I didn't know you couldn't get piercing growl

You only get piercing growl if you save Volo in act 3, after you do that he gives you a book about the Slayer and reading it gives you the spell and a passive that gives advantage against Slayer form conditions abilities.
When does he come to your camp if you refuse to kill Isobel?
After you encounter her (getting the blessing). So, if you want to scam this, which I plan to do on my second urge run, get the Pixie and don't meet Isobel until after you start the attack on Moonrise. Then you can kill Isobel with fewer consequences and not have to make all those rolls in camp to not kill your lover.

I kept all party members, so yes to that. I stole in front of Isobel, so she attacked me! Not so innocent! But otherwise no, you are going to HAVE to kill someone undeserving, to get the Slayer form, unless you wait until you kill Orin and then, well, you've chosen the evil ending so....

That's not the problem. Once you kill her the shield breaks and Dammon becomes undead.
Such a shame that despite how cool it is, any well build character will be pumping out better damage or utility by not entering the Slayer Form
Yeah but at least you can use it and then go back to the same HP you had to begin with when you revert back. Also inflicting Flesh Rot can be great!
the way i see it, you can use it as a sponge for a boss fight. I'm currently running solo shadow monk 8 /thief 4 and altho i can pump out a ton of damage and reset the combat endlessly, there are some instances in act 3, where i fight enemies with huge hp pool, so switching to the slayer in these instances can be a good thing.
How do you make the butler appear? I have never seen that character before.

@@dans5662 Dark urge is a character you can choose to play on character choosing menu. And if you dont choose dark urge he/she will just die and be placed in Baarl temple. The butler is dark urges butler, wont shown if you didnt choose him/her.
Does the Savage Attacker feat affect the Slayer form?
Yeah it does!
You can kill Isobel immediately after arriving at Act 2. This is possible even if you have sided with the goblins and killed everyone at the Grove. First go into Last Light Inn and then go directly to Isobel(you may be stopped in a speech with the dude who helped you but leave him). To kill Isobel you have to talk to her about kidnapping her yourself. You will fight her and can kill her there. After that you can convince Jaheirah to join you and fight the now turned residents of Last Light Inn. To make the second fight easy prepare and position a lot of smoke/firewine barrels near the enemy spawn points of the second fight. Then light them up and have an easy fight. After the fight you can even convince Jaheirah to join you in the camp.

i got the slayer before meting isobel, not sure how though, but i bit of gales hand by accident at the start. then promised to help the halflings but ended upp killing them all with jaheira,(she got to me, was so hot) i also accidently killed halsin, it was my first run and i had no clue what i was doing, sadly game save files got all messy in act 3 and game bricked. i know i had it before meting her cus i used it to kill her.

Best option imo, is to romance Shart (and your fav LI) Spare Isobel, then kill Shart = get Slayer form = win win...LOL

@@FranWest. I still think waiting until all of the harpers are at moonrise is the best choice. I makes the fight at last light way smaller and gives you support at moonrise

I often read how weak it is but personally I found to be pretty powerful as a “oh shit” button for my sorcerer
Damage is good, additional health pool is useful. It basically allows me to still be a menace even after running out of spell slots

@@Omaha01 Also my slayer form didn't have piercing growl. Apparently you need to get some book from Volo for it?
I think it was weaker on release but was buffed. Pretty sure the extra attacks came a couple patches ago.
@Djindjolia If that's the case I wasn't aware. I think I've had the book both times I got the Slayer form so I wouldn't have noticed it not being there
@user-nh5mq6kc9v yeah on the wiki it still says you get the extra attacks from martial classes. But now I think it just comes with the form

Just wait until after you kill Ketheric and Isobel will come to Moonrise then keep all but one character at camp kill Isobel and knockout Dame Aylin and fast travel to camp. Longrest and Aylin will be at camp and completely unaware of you killing her lesbian lover.
didnt patch 4 fix the issue of your mental stats not being carried over?
Nope, not patched. :-( I can confirm the mental stats do Not carry over yet (may be updated some day). But good and random news, the Hag hair and some other upgrades to stats that I have found do carry over. :-).
No they didn't carry over both times I got the Slayer Form
what if you make the boom mage your love interest? killing him will give you the form and then his "revive me!" quest will activate right?

I’m heavily disappointed with the strength of the slayer. All that murder just for a badass form….thats so fucking weak that it’s a massive debuff to become one. I could do 6x the amount of damage in a single turn as my monk, than the slayer could do in 10.

Absolutely useless. I went for a fighter. Lvl 5 more attacks, action surge, 2H specialization bonus action attack... I did WAY MORE damage with just my 2H than with slayer form. Only usefull while REALLY low hp trying to save myself. While maybe you can keep your lvl 5 second attack, you CANT keep action surge or bonus action attack. Sux
Tbh slayer mode is very very bad, much worse than just playing a normal build
Free HP and damage without hurting your actual character though which is nice

@@Omaha01 the issue is, if you’re thinking optimally then it actually hurts your party to turn into a form that does less damage even if it’s “free” because less damage means more time for the enemies to stay alive and deal damage themselves, sure slayer is alright in normal where even the worst builds are fine but calling it good when compared to actually good builds in this game isn’t true.
So if you’re trying to make a decent build then going into slayer form hurts your party more than it helps
it's a second healthbar that tanks a lot of damage + 3 attacks 25-40 when you're out of spell slots is decent@@mrbilbs8039
Very underwhelming form. Used it only once and never again. It doesn't matter what class you have - hopping into slayer form always makes you weaker. On top of this, the only redeeming quality of most druid wild sfapes - tavern brawler - doesn't work with this. Without item effects and with no bonus hit chance from TB, no matter how powerful slayer would be, you can barely hit your targets without party's help.
Tavern Brawler does increase the hit chance. It just doesn't work for the damage. I've found the Slayer form to be beneficial in some of my runs
I just got my slayer form at level 9 I am now WAY WAY WAY WEAKER than I was without it. What a fucking joke of a transformation. You literally get weaker in every single way. I can talk, I can't do good damage, I can't cast spells, I don't have more armor or more HP while transformed. The Slayer Form is a fuxking waste of time. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. It is extremely useless.
Imagine playing a martial that only hits two melee strikes rather than a mage and you can see why getting double health (I'm at 75 at level 10 with Slayer getting 150), three strikes minimum and a bunch of other buffs if you play around bleed etc.. makes Slayer a good form
