I bought one pretty recently on sale and I could not be happier! It's so perfect for my use, plenty rigid for my use case with Assetto Corsa and BeamNG and the wheel translates some feel to the seat so it may be more communicative than some more expensive rigid setups. My only complaints are that the steering wheel plate doesn't fit my Fanatec CSR (so I have to use the clamp for now) and there's no adapter for a gear shifter. Both problems can be solved with some mild DIY, drill some holes for the wheelbase and hack a 35mm TV pole for $35 to make a shifter mount. Still way less expensive than the next best option!
I've had this chair for 2 years, I sit at 3k rating in Iracing. This chair does the trick perfectly and for a budget. I just got my Fanatec CSL Elite pedals, let's see if this takes me to the next level. Nice review mate.
I find the pedals being lower relative to your seating position the most comfortable and most precise as far as inputs. I also find it much more enjoyable that way. After all you are not limited by the real life position of pedals and seating that you have to adhere to.
But the shifter attachment from Playseat isnt really that good. And i personally wouldnt pay 40 Bucks for a piece of metal, but there are pretty good alternative options in the Web.

I have this chair for a year. 5 10 215. I taped pool noodles to the arms to snug up the seat. I do push up on the wheel to make it more stable when I’m driving and it matters.
This chair is amazing especially if you have limited space, super easy to fold up and put away. Its really comfortable and sturdy. Definitely a good buy!
@@PaultheSimRacer just purachased it! I also have the same wheel your using. The pedals are different. Did you come from the T3pa pedals? If so, how do they differ from the fanatec pedals your Using? Tanx again
@@always_trust_all_scientists I had the T3pa's - the problem with them is that they don't have a load cell pedal. Thank you so much for this video. I live in the US, retired and travel full time in a 34 foot RV with my wife. We have VERY limited room and I just got into Sim racing. This video helped me decide to buy one since I can put it away after use. Only thing for me is I have to figure out where to put a monitor. Right now I use a laptop to play and there is no mounting place for it.
Excellent review! I wanted this thing since it was announced over 6 years ago. I've got the Fanatec Wheel Stand which is ok. I may have to get this for Christmas!
Thank you for the review! Very focused and covered important points. One thing I missed in all the reviews I have watched, including this one, is what is the height of your eye level line. This is very important for me, since I pretend to use it in front of my office desk, where the center of my 35" UWide monitor is at around 103 cm (top of the desk is at 74cm). BTW, I am 1,72m.
After almost a year i decided to buy me a more stable also yet better adjustable play seat evolution. The chair is really handy but for somebody that is bigger and heavier i couldnt find the perfect sitting position. The chair also struggles to have extra things mounted on like a handbrake or shifter. I order a sequential shifter but i sadly needed to send it back because there was no way it could be mounted on perfectly to make it stable so i hope my new playseat will give a better experience but for somebody living in a small apartment this chair is really chill and relaxt to race in.
If you want to get creative, I have DIYed and shifter mount and also mounted Dayton Audio Tactile Transducer Pucks. The transducers sit under each side of the pedles and on each side of the back of my Play seat Challenge. The seat is durable, very well made and fairly sturdy. The best part it all folds away. Running VR, so my whole rig is a computer, a wireless keyboard and the Play seat All can be packed up and stored in 5 mins. The transducer work very well and sitting in VR with them is pretty nice I gotta say. Great review
I am trading my heavy rseat for a playseat challenge. Moving from a house to an apartment the storage benefits sold me on this unit probably 5 years ago in anticipation of this day. Thanks for the excellent video.

Where did you tie the cable ties to? Sorry if that sounds stupid but the bottom of my pedals are flat and I don’t see how I could secure them using that method if that makes sense?
What steeringwheel do you use. I just got a playseat and my steeringwheel dorst fit on the playseat
I used a T300 in this video, then a Fantatec CSW 2.5. But now use a Fantatec CSL DD.
The title mentioned "after two years", but in the video there is no word about the durability during the time. But thank you anyway!
Fair enough, I did talk about the strap that broke - but to be honest that's all that has failed. It's coming up to 4 years now and it still works fine.
@@PaultheSimRacer OK, great do hear. Mine has arrived today and I'm very happy, too. I've never did sim racing but now I start with G29 and Playseat Challenge. Thanks.
@@derpaufler Good choice, I use that too but just upgraded. Don't at all feel bad that there is a brand new Logitech wheel, because its just the same as the G29, with a few gimmicks that not a lot of games will support anyways.
Alexander Ulv I got mine used for EUR 160,- as I was not okay in spending EUR 270,- for the G29 new. So the new one will be even more expensive at this point. Maybe I will make the switch to a Fanatec Clubsport Wheel sometimes.
Nice review! How do you connect the fanatec pedals to the thrustmaster base?
You can get a USB adapter for the pedals. Then pedals + wheelbase plug in seperately via 2 USBs
@@PaultheSimRacer 2 usb in Ps5?
Good review. I'm currently using a wheelstand and considering this option. There seemed to be a fair amount of movement in the wheel whilst playing though which concerns me. Still can't make my mind up whether to get one
It’s moves up and down a little but when you are racing , drifting it’s not noticeable at all.
Easy fix when locked in feel under the left side there’s a pin push it in and slide the frame back in a tiny bit it makes it solid just remember to push it back out when you want to get out !
@@slugz2079 This is really good advice! I've thought about getting the wheel but hesitated due to the wobble and no one has mentioned the pin for extra stability!
The Iron Swede works a treat pal
i have it, and the movement of the wheel is at most 1cm.... while driving you really cant feel it at all
What´s your opinion about the fanatec clubsport v2 pedals? In 2021 they still a good choice? or not?
