  • This easy 'Swiss Roll' recipe is perfect for tea time or dessert, which is both delicious and surprisingly easy to make! I have made sure to include all tips possible for an amazing Swiss roll recipe for beginners! The 3 ingredient sponge vanilla cake roll recipe turns out a soft and fluffy Swiss roll dessert.

    For this recipe, I have used a 16 X 28 cm baking tray

    4 x eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
    3/4 cup or 90 grams of all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup or 110 grams of caster sugar

    It seems as though everyone bakes the same cakes differently, e.g. some add salt in the cake, others do not. Some separate the eggs, others do not. In this video, they wrapped the finished cake in baking paper and left it for a few hours before unwrapping it. In some recipes, they do not want this. Am I wrong?

    Looking forward to trying this, I noticed 1thing why did you not baking powder to the butter?

      Air is the only raising agent in a Swiss Roll, If we use baking powder it will crack the sponge while rolling. You can use whipped cream instead of jam.

    Do you roll it while it’s still hot?? Or must you wait for it to cool down before rolling it.

    What kind of paper did you use? I use parchment paper and it always sticks to the paper when i roll.

      There are two sides on the parchment paper, rub with your fingers, one feels more slippery/shiny than the other side. You put the slippery/shiny side upwards!

      Size of the pan is 16 by 28 inches and you need to beat at a high speed until the mixture turns into ribbon stage.
