  • @BlackSeaRC

    That was a detailed painting project! I always find I use far more paint than I planned. The Land Cruiser is a big body so I expect the spray cans do not last long. I have a similar big paint project soon as I am building the Cross-RC PG4A and the body is very large. My main concern is whether the masking tape will damage the fresh paint surface when doing multiple colours. I know you really need to let the paint harden for a good time period. Did you find the masking tape damaged the paint surface in any way on your body?

    • @KobtsevRC
      @KobtsevRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used special tape and it works great, but it's best to let it dry for 1 day. Yes, I damaged the paint when I applied the tape after a few hours. After this error, I waited 1 day. I just didn't plan on painting the whole car that color.

    • @BlackSeaRC
      @BlackSeaRC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KobtsevRC I suppose at least with a hard body you have an opportunity to make corrections. When I painted my last polycarbonate body there were a few imperfections but I just had to leave them.

  • @bigwhop136
    @bigwhop136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This came out beautifully. Can I ask a question? So im trying to paint my hard body but everytime i use the tamiya masking tape to make the lines so I can paint the other side a different color when I take the tape off it leaves a streak of residue that makes me have to start all over and sand it and paint again but all I will be doing is going is circles. My question is if I leave the residue will this clear coat cover it and make is vanish? Or do you have a suggestion to get rid of the residue? Before you suggest some products I did some researching and I tried Wd40, Water, Goo Gone and using more tape to stick it and bring it up but none of these work. Thanks for any help!

    • @KobtsevRC
      @KobtsevRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you sure you're using Tamiya tape? How long do you wait after painting before applying Tamiya tape? My tape leaves no trace. The only problem I had was when I didn't wait for the right time and put Tamiya tape on the fresh paint. Then yes I'm having problems. The best option is to apply primer, wait a few hours 2-4, then apply paint and wait a day. Then apply the tape and apply a different color of paint. Wait a day to remove the tape.
      If you have any questions write
      Did you use soil?

    • @bigwhop136
      @bigwhop136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KobtsevRC Yes im using tamiya tape im doing different color stripes the ivan stewart toyota stripes to be exact. I guess ill wait each day to do a stripe. What is soil?

    • @KobtsevRC
      @KobtsevRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i mean primer
      you ned wait a lot
      check what write on the can of paint

    • @bigwhop136
      @bigwhop136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KobtsevRC Oh yes I use tamiya primer. Ill just start over and wait 24 hrs on each paint and see how it comes out. Thanks for responding and the tips!

      @@bigwhop136In this case, it is better not to rush! I, too, was in a hurry and made several mistakes, which caused me to lose even more time. A lot of patience and diligence and you will succeed!
